wally is dreadfully confused, vision fading in and out. he can hear maggie, barely, through the voices and the roaring and the skipping and... so much. so much noise. his breathing is rapid, frenzied by the intensity of everything happening within a mind that is usually free and clear from clutter.

he reaches blindly for her arm and holds her into a vice grip, fear outweighing concern for putting too much pressure on her; maggie would understand, she always did. she always would. maggie is so sweet... a sad smile crosses his face. at least he has her.

" it's... it is the most, " he agrees solemnly, " but we can get through anything together, maggie. "

Voice   hoarse,   nostrils   flared   and   jaw   clenched,   she   doesn't   mean   to   sound   bitter.   But   the   way   he   brushes   it   off   so   easily  --   so   casually,   without   remorse   to   what   he's   done   and   plans   to   continue   doing  ..   It   made   her   inked   blood   boil   almost   immediately.

Lottie   pauses,   her   expression   softening   and   shoulders   starting   to   lower   from   their   angered   stance   at   his   question   ...   soon   enough   she   curses   under   her   breath,  knowing   now   to   be   caught   --   something   she   could   have   easily   avoided.

Out   falls   a   shaken   breath   from   her   lips   ;   before   once   more   lifting   her   hand   to   raise   her   cracked   glasses   then   pinching   darkened   eyes   together,   frustrated   with   herself   even   more   for   the   all   forementioned   vulnerability,    ❝    We   were   married.    ❞ 

Bitter   taste   on   her   tongue   to   share   that,   with   a   cold   venomous   tone   to   match   it.   Her   eyes   shoot   to   his   leaned   forward   form,   weakened   gaze   begging   him   not   to   push   further.   It   wasn't   worth   it   to   reopen   wounds   forced   closed   solely   through   self  -   inflicted   restriction.   Closed   off,   she   only   leaves   him   one   final   curtain   call,     ❝    So   I   repeat   my   previous   statement.   Look   where   that   sacrifice   got   you.   ❞

LITTLE   DEVIL   HESITATES   A   RESPONSE   TO   GIVE   THE   LEADING   PROPHET,   no   matter   if   rehearsed   multiple   times   in   her   head,   pure   instinct   takes   over,   and   with   a   hitched   breath   Lottie   finds   herself   reprising   a   small   white   lie   instead,

No   attempts   were   made   to   meet   his   gaze   (   whether   on   purpose   or   complete   accident,   she   left   up   to   him  ..   ),    though   her   gloved   hand   does   release   from   the   death   grip   she   had   on   the   strap   of   her   hollister   to   her   mouth   in   a   slight   yawn   and   then   her   eye   to   rub   off   any   sneaking   exhaustion   that   threatened   to   make   itself   known   in   the   midst   of   danger. 

 In   the   same   heavy   minute,   she   takes   the   time   to   keep   their   surroundings   in   check   as   if   she   hadn't   been   doing   so   in   the   past   hour ;   while   Henry   went   ahead   in   hopes   to   find   some   sort   of   food   for   their   small   group   of   apparent   cycle   fugitives..   ❝   You're   one   to   talk,   though   --   seeing   as   you   either   kill   slash   "  sacrifice  "   or   avoid   everyone   you   see   whenever   possible.   ❞
