Michael Reederâs âDEADRINGERâ at Hashimoto Contemporary NYC.
Opening on Saturday, December 1st, 2018 at Hashimoto Contemporary at their New York City location is artist Michael Reederâs solo exhibition, âDEADRINGER.â
Through the use of bold saturated color and graphic geometric patterns blended with figurative elements, Reederâs work delves into the concept of self, and the innate human desire to be an authentic entity. Skulls and hands are prevalent in the artists work, calling attention to both internal and external physical elements that connect us all as humans. As we strive for uniqueness, we are bound together through our humanity, highlighting the fact that we are ultimately the same.
About the exhibition, Reeder states, âI wanted to focus on how similar we as humans are regardless of our external differences and how desperately we attempt to stand apart in society. We are all composed of distinct experiences, backgrounds, cultures, fashion styles, careers, etc., yet it is all individually mashed up into a dead ringer, almost carbon copied vessel - the human body. This concept is the underlying premise of DEADRINGER.â
The exhibition will be on view until December 22nd, 2018.

Mike Eganâs âWhere Death Goes To Die.â
Currently on view at Anno Domini Gallery in San Jose, California is artist Mike Eganâs solo exhibition entitled, âWhere Death Goes to Die.â
Mike shared his thoughts with me on this exhibition and stated, â2108 has me feeling like Iâm at a bit of a cross roads in my career as an artist. I wanted to create a body of work for this show that was new and fresh but still screamed âMike Egan did that!â Iâve never been one to that is experimental with color and I wanted to change that. The idea of drawing the viewer into a painting with color always appealed to me. With using new colors for me like purples and aquas and using the gradient colors I feel like these new paintings really pop. Another shift is the size of the work that Iâm doing. I wanted the paintings to have a commanding presence in the gallery.  Although I still have the themes of death and dying running through my work Iâm hoping that people find joy and happiness with how fresh and bright everything is. The title âWhere Death Goes To Dieâ is kind of me saying forget about the sadness and death aspects of my work and maybe focus on the new graphic qualities and colors that Iâm using. Iâm still alive, moving and growing as an artist!â
The exhibition is on view until December 14th, 2018.

Ghetto Streets On Acid by Slava Semeniuta a.k.a. Local Preacher
Slava Semeniuta is an artist, photographer, and DJ from Sochi, Russian Federation.
I love everything that looks cosmic. Now I often use body painting and Digital Art. In my opinion, all the most beautiful and really valuable things are right before our eyes from the very childhood, and probably, for this reason, we stop to notice it when we grow up. Seeing the splendor in things that other people call dull or even unpleasant is a very controversial gift, but at the same time wonderful.
