I’m just a girl on a neverending quest to illustrate every clothing description in asoiaf (slowly but surely) (costume design is my favourite thing in the world)

I’m doing it as an exercise in worldbuilding, trying to create a cohesive sense of fashion all over this world.

I’m also growing sick of every fantasy film/tv show dressing their characters in euro « « « medieval » » » inspired clothing (they all end up looking kinda the same to me) (also where are the colours? The silly hats?? The tight trousers and pointy shoes???)

Like it’s fantasy…… and aiming for « realism » (whatever that means in the context of a work full of dragons, prophecies and blood magic) is just a waste imho.

Hence my goal is to diversify the references I use in my art in order to visually signify cultural divides (a core theme of icefire) and the vastness of the world.

Hence hence I will not debate with randos online why my art depicts some characters as non-white…… POCs??? In my fantasy world??? It’s more likely than you think (Westeros is literally 3000km long…. Everyone having the same snow-white skin just doesn’t make sense) (< as I was typing this it got autocorrected to show-white skin….. really makes you think)
