Giving the people what they want: more monsters. Can you guess what some of them look like based on their names?
This list is not *exclusively* Kaiju, there are also aliens, bio-ships, shifters, “small” (bear sized) creatures and “other”. Some of them have never been drawn and only existed in my head up now.
Though Astral Drift is primarily about shonen superheroes and sci fi space trips, giant monsters remain central to the world and plot from page one. I would love to see the series bridge these three fandoms further in the future
The final round of Comet Chasers produced by @artofrivana and I is finally ready to read. At 50+ pages including longscroll pages and some of the most complex animation I’ve done for a comic, the finale is part of the biggest single narrative I’ve ever produced with a single art partner. We hope you enjoy the final product and the journey’s climax 🙏 go give it a read at https://oculama.com/comic/945 at Oculama.com

This is the chronological order of comics on Oculama that relate to the story of Raven and Tio’Naia for Oculama’s Comet Chasters tournament.
The superhero Thunder Woman as i might imagine her in Astral Drift
Samantha West’s Astral Drift is called “Avatar Zeus”: At rest, she gives no strong signs of Astra much less being an Astral User, even much less a Drifter. When she triggers her ability, her body transforms from an average height and weight into an Amazonian/Olympian/Goliath/pick-a-phrase, and all her Astral Applications activate (primary masteries in fortification for high strength and invulnerability, as well as flight). She also gains weather manipulation, with a focus on lightning. All together it makes her a force on par with Glory Guard, the top ranked hero in the system.
Samantha can only stay in this form for a set period of time, before it functionally goes on cooldown and she remains vulnerable and human until she can trigger it again, usually after a long rest. Attempts to extend the deadline have proven very dangerous, leading to complications requiring hospitalization if pushed too far.
Although she is very imposing in stature she is disarmingly affable and sunny in behavior. There are unfounded rumors that she attained her powers not from The Lady, but from ancient gods from before the Astral Age.
Thunder Woman belongs to longtime friend and supporter Daniel Hoins

Been working on a comics tournament final round for a while now, it feels like it’s been months since I’ve drawn Vidia

“My best dreams and worst nightmares have the same people in them.”
@artofrivana and I had so much content for Raven and Tio’Naia we couldn’t fit them in the standard chapters, so we made a little 2-3 pager to add further context and build the world and lore outside the main stories. You can read this comic and the rest at Oculama
I’m always a fan of a good long scroll comic gimmick, I had to do at least one with @artofrivana for our collaboration.

“In all chaos there is a cosmos, in all disorder a secret order.”
Raven and Tio’s journey through space continues with other wild wizard characters belonging to other artists. @artofrivana and I pull a little style change for this cosmic detour. You can read the comic and subsequent comics on Oculama
On a whim @artofrivana and I decided to try out some little animations for our Raven + Tio’Naia comics.
As the weeks have gone by we started adding more and crazier animations to future chapters. You can read this comic and more on Oculama
“We were all heading for each other on a collision course, no matter what. Maybe some people are just meant to be in the same story.”
@artofrivana and I have been collaborating on a little sci-fantasy journey about loss and connection, you can read the comics at Oculama. We hope you enjoy it and subsequent comics
“Well this is awkward”
Kaiju nerd rant: Monsterverse has had a hit-or-miss naming problem with their kaiju since 2019 and they need an official naming czar who knows a bunch of kaiju from Godzilla to Gamera to Ultraman and can produce banger new names with tried-and-true theory
