Assistant to the Turk
Thank you anon, I hope you enjoy! I think this is the first time I wrote anything for Reno that wasn’t headcanons so excuse the shitty dialogue lmao
Typing away at your computer, you’re practically drowning in your work: Piles of papers with rough drafts of mission reports that you’re expected to finish up have been accumulating on your desk. But now that your little eye candy isn’t here, you can diligently dedicate yourself to your tasks.
“Eye candy” is what he dubbed himself before he brought you a new stack of papers one time, as you later found out when Elena came to vent her frustrations about her fellow Turks. “Who wouldn’t deserve a little eye candy for their hard work?” Is the argument with which he took the report right out of Elena’s hands and straight to your office just to come see you.
Now that you’re thinking of him, his mission should be over soon. As if on cue, the door opens and a light breeze wakes you from your monotone work flow. The only one who opens the door without ever knocking—
“Reno.”
But instead of his usual flirty remarks, his heavy sigh is what makes you look up from your screen. He sits down on the little couch behind you, leans his head back and crosses his arms in front of his chest. And he looks terrible. Every visible part of his skin is littered with little cuts and bruises and he seems utterly exhausted.
“Was s’posed to check up on Aerith today. Looks like she’s got herself a new bodyguard, asshole called himself a Soldier. Who does he think he is?”
And he’s in a bad mood too, but you know what he’s like. It’s not rare that he comes into your office looking for some sort of comfort or distraction from his daily life as a Turk. Although he’s never told you about his real intentions when visiting you, he always explains that someone’s “gotta keep an eye on the new secretary.” But you can tell he just enjoys your company and it warms your heart.
“Looks like he beat you up pretty badly.”
That gets a little chuckle out of him.
“Shut up. Should’ve seen the grunts that came with me, poor guys can hardly walk anymore. That little shit knows what he’s doing with that weapon of his, gotta give him that.”
You stand up to take a closer look at him. Seems like that new bodyguard was wielding a sword, perhaps? There’s a small gash near his wrist and the sleeve of his suit jacket tore. You can’t see much more since he’s hiding his hand under his other arm, but it looks pretty painful. And you’re staring. Reno looks up at you standing right in front of him, but he can’t hold your gaze for long before he looks off to the side. Finally you’ve managed to fluster him! It’s probably just his embarrassment at you seeing him in this state, but hey, a win’s a win. But you’re gracious enough not to tease him any further, even if he’d definitely deserve it considering how often he does it to you…
“He’s a soldier? Don’t they usually listen to Turk’s orders?” You make your way towards the locker in the corner of your office and rummage around in the mess. Your bag, printer paper, all sorts of fancy stationary that you use as backup, and an emergency kit hidden underneath it all. It seems like he hasn’t paid a visit to Shinra’s infirmary yet, and although this isn’t listed in your job description, you might as well patch him up yourself. Make him stay a little longer.
“Nah, he said he’s a first class. Would’ve seen him around if he was. He’s got the eyes and one heck of a sword though.”
Making your way over to the couch, you sit down next to him and open the little box to pull out some bandages.
“You gonna patch me up now, sweet stuff?”
“Sweet stuff? That’s cringe, Reno.”
“Then what else should I call ya? My nurse?”
You pull at his arm and in the process also Reno himself closer to you, earning an “Ouch” from him.
“My name is perfectly fine, thank you. And what did you say about that guy’s eyes? You know, your eyes look like you’re on mako half the time yourself.” Pulling at his upper arm and placing it on your lap, you remove his leather glove and cut straight to clumsily wrapping the bandage around his wrist without disinfecting the wound first and mentally chide yourself. What a stupid move to pull him so close to you, now he’s literally breathing down your neck. He’s having fun, alright.
“Now don’t try to distract me, I’m tryin’ to find a nickname here.”
“Nope, we’re done. Look!” The bandage looks amateur at best and this might not have been the best idea considering there’s professionals just a couple of floors away but oh well. Standing up, you try to gain a little distance to calm your nerves and let the uncomfortable feeling of your face heating up pass.
“For a second I thought you were tryin’ to cut my circulation with how much you were pulling there at the end. Not bad though. Not bad at all.”
At least he’s happy with it, you suppose. You sit back down at your desk and look forward to now also writing a report about how Reno messed up the mission, perfect material to tease him back once it’s done.
“Hey.”
Before you can start typing again, he calls for your attention while lazily leaning against the door frame. Even when he’s bruised and battered, his casual demeanor is still apparent. Maybe his job makes him more pain-resistant than the average person.
“Thanks. Might have to take you out to dinner after work now, huh?”

Sephiroth is back. The man you’ve occasionally run into at Shinra is rumored to have returned and Avalanche’s activity is at an all-time high. The Turks are sent on increasingly inhumane missions that weigh heavily on your conscience. The only one who could provide some clarity was Aerith, who has found herself in the middle of all these happenings.
The woman you’ve been tasked with protecting ever since she was a child—now all grown up and surrounded by the people you’ve fought previously. Just as they were about to leave Midgar, you confronted her and the danger of what awaits the world dawned on you.
Needless to say, Reno is pissed. Tseng’s instruction to get some R&R after the plate drop already made him dread the boredom of the coming days but he would’ve never expected to receive such a call from you. You’re leaving and won’t be coming back. He can’t even believe what he’s hearing at first. What do you mean you’re done?
Reno’s relationship with his fellow Turks are of great importance to him, but you’ve been so much more. To not only see you betray the company after having fought for your lives but also him as your partner is something he can’t comprehend at all. You’ve both confided in each other about feeling guilty for committing crimes in the name of Shinra—you more so than him. He does get you. And he assumes that maybe going after Sephiroth is not the only reason you left. But he’s blinded by how strongly he feels about you giving up on everything you’ve experienced together. You can’t just stop being a Turk, you couldn't have possibly forgotten.
He wants to confront you but he can’t figure out your whereabouts without Tseng’s intel. Despite protesting that he’s fine and doesn’t need his “vacation”, his boss knows that it wouldn’t be beneficial to their new objective to have you two meet. That’s right, desertion means execution and Tseng knows how Reno is. While his occupation is extremely important to him, is it really precious enough that taking the life of someone he loves would be worth it? No way in hell. Shinra can start hunting him down for all he cares but no one could ever force him to murder you. While he values the company, his bonds with the people he trusts are what really keep him loyal.
But thankfully he’s still got his partner. Rude has seen you on one of his missions and reported back to Reno, who is disappointed once again to hear that you’ve set your heart on your new objective and there’s no way to convince you to cut your shit out. Part of him now resents you for what you have done and the look he gives you the next time you see him shows hostility, but he would never dare to cause you any harm.
── .✦ 2 years later, Advent Children.
The fall of Shinra has motivated Reno like nothing has in a long time. A new, better version is being rebuilt by the small team that has decided to stay with the president. When Rufus gave all employees the opportunity to leave of their own free will, he immediately thought of you. You can be free now if you want to be, which means that he’s no longer forced to chase after you. But he wonders what you would think of the new Shinra. Perhaps a more just and peaceful company would entice you to join the Turks once again. He would love to have you back.
This time you received a call: An offer to come back, to forget about everything that’s happened. He doesn’t want to influence your decision because ultimately, he wants you to be happy. But he can’t help the hopeful tone he puts on.
His stubbornness has kept him from reaching out to fix the relationship you’ve had. He wanted you to know just how much you hurt him with your decision. But he’s also missed you so much and can’t help but take this opportunity and try to get you to come back.
Not one part of Tseng liked the thought of making his Turks drop the plate and murdering thousands in the process, but orders are orders. However, putting up a strong and indifferent act, paired with his comment about giving back to the planet what Shinra has taken, has resulted in your desertion.
Tseng knows very well what it means to betray the Turks, he’s seen it firsthand with Veld. All deserters are to be executed. Once you’re in, death’s the only way out. But as soon as he stood before you, holding you at gunpoint, his finger froze on the trigger. No, this is not what he stands for. None of this is. Standing before you with a heavy heart, he made his decision. Although he has become the perfect Turk in the eyes of the company and now carries out missions to the finest details, he resorts back to skirting the rules for your sake. Back to his old ways.
If attempts are made on your life and you just so happen to miraculously come out unscathed each time, who is left to punish him? The president is dead, after all. And there’s more trust between Tseng and Rufus than there’s ever been between him and the old president.
But doubts about himself start to fester in his mind. Now that he’s back to circumventing orders, he realizes just how much he’s actually changed in the past years. A younger version of Tseng would’ve been appalled at how easily he passed along the order to drop the plate. And now he can’t even keep the Turks in line because his own partner left him. Your desertion served as a wake-up call.
In the end, he doesn’t have time to fret about how much he’s changed. As long as you’re safe, there shouldn’t be anything to worry about. As your boss, he’s well aware of your capabilities. And once he finds out what your new motive is, there’s no doubt in his mind that you’ll come out unscathed. You’re also in good hands. Cloud and his group seem to be a capable bunch, enough to even entrust Aerith’s safety to them. And the fact that you’re now also in her presence makes him even more confident in his judgement.
The next time he crosses paths with you and your new-found companions, he can’t help but issue one final order: To take care of yourselves.
── .✦ 2 years later, Advent Children.
Only one of you came back alive. But during the fall of meteor, he did sense a particular person’s presence and he’s glad that you carried out his last order as long as possible. You did your job well and you’re free. Now would be the perfect time to try and ask you to return and mend your broken relationship.
But he believes it would be best if you stayed away from Shinra after all that’s happened. You must’ve felt so much regret about joining the Turks in the first place and Aerith also indirectly died by Shinra’s doings, surely that made you even more disgusted by the company. He realized that it’s relieving not having to burden you with these difficult tasks and he will keep looking for ways to help ease the suffering of the people of Midgar, you being a huge motivation that keeps him going.
Rude has always admired your kindness and sense of justice. He is also someone who believes that your job doesn’t necessarily make you a bad person. Of course that doesn’t make the crimes you commit any less terrible, but he’s confident in knowing that you and him have always been good people at heart.
Now that you’re gone, he can’t calm his worries about you. When you were still at his side, he always had an eye on you. During risky missions he was always close enough to defend you, but now he doesn’t even know what you’re up to anymore. He’s attempted to contact you. Now that you’re an enemy of Shinra, your relationship won’t ever be what it once was again, he is not even allowed to be in your vicinity if it’s not to kill. But he’s not one to let his loved one leave without at least having a proper conversation about what your desertion means for your relationship. He still wants to see you despite being disappointed at your decision to leave your old life.
Tseng’s order to have you executed, Elena arguing that even someone as new as her apparently knows the rules better than Rude and Reno being the only one to have some sense of understanding for his situation makes him wish that you’ll come out alive and will have enough courage to face the challenges awaiting you.
Following what one believes is important. While he doesn’t get a lot of opportunities to do so and hates that you had to abandon everything that’s dear to you, fighting for something with a clear conscience is what he would want for you. You’re a free person now but you’ll always be on his mind. Especially when the world is coming to an end.
Meteorfall seemed like the calamity that would end the world as he knew it, and while trying to evacuate as many people as possible from Midgar, you were at the forefront of his mind. His old instinct to look out for you in dangerous situations is still very much there, even if he doesn’t know where in the world you’re at right now.
── .✦ 2 years later, Advent Children.
Rude is glad to see you working an honest job with the people you care about. Nowadays, he spends most of his time overseeing the construction of Shinra’s monument in the town square. Its location is convenient enough that he can occasionally see you whenever you’re running errands or even taking the kids outside that you’ve taken in with your new friends. At the beginning of rebuilding Midgar, he ensured that you now live in a safe environment and assured you that there’s nothing to worry about anymore, you’re finally off the Turk’s hook. Although the company is now changing for the better and he misses working with you, he wouldn’t wish to take you away from the peaceful life you deserve.
At least he hoped you would live in peace. That very same monument he’s been tasked with surveilling is suspected of hiding a secret of Shinra’s dark past that the remnants of Sephiroth have come to take. It turns out that you’re still determined to fight for what you believe is right. Not that he’s surprised, he’s always believed in your righteousness. Although he’d rather keep you away from the danger, he’s happy to work towards the same goal with you once again.
Elena grew up with the likeness of Sephiroth all around her—from posters advertising the most random of products to Shinra’s military propaganda, the company loves to flaunt their favorite poster boy. Even more unimaginable now to hear you say that the reason why you’re not accompanying the rookie on her long-awaited first real mission is that you’re planning to chase after him. The man who was rumoured to have died, Shinra’s famous military weapon is apparently planning to destroy the world.
Elena may not have experienced as much as you or her new colleagues, but the lessons she’s learned during training are still fresh in her memory. Death is the only way out of this job. Turk’s policy says all traitors must be executed. And it’s either kill or be killed.
She’s always admired you greatly and has idolized you as her role model, which is why she’d be the most shocked to find out how little you care about the rules. Working as a unit is cool and all, but you do know that your friends will turn against you, right? And now she’s livid. You have all it takes, the Turks need you. She needs you.
The fact that you left for some Avalanche scum enrages her the most. You must be out of your mind to leave them for the sake of the people you were fighting against. Especially because you’ve been here longer than her, what the hell are you thinking?
But she’s also heard the story of when the Turks collectively came within a hair’s breadth of losing their lives at the hands of Shinra, you’ve told her yourself. Apparently the situation has definitely improved ever since they swore loyalty to Rufus. Nonetheless, hearing about the brutality of the company has sparked some fear in her and after brooding over your desertion, she is starting to realize that maybe your decision is one she wouldn’t understand until the coming years.

The rise of a new Shinra is on the horizon and they’re now trying to atone for how much suffering they were the cause of. Shinra is now actively looking for something to cure Geostigma, but people are still dying at high rates and screaming for help. Anyone who tries getting access to Shinra’s newly developed painkillers out of desperation will need to be taken care of.
Elena has further developed her reckless side since you left but can emphasize with your decision a bit more. She’s still a proud Turk and will always stay one. But that doesn’t mean she now has to see her fellow Turks as her role model. Hearing that you’ve defeated Shinra’s ultimate weapon fills her with courage and determination. Even if you’re no longer here and she looks back on her rookie days with you fondly, you will always be held in high regard as the strong person you are.
Halfway through rude’s part I remembered that he actually did date someone from Avalanche lmao. I’m so sad we didn’t get to see more of Elena and Tseng in the movie. Elena’s part is a little more inspired by The kids are alright because of her basically non-existent screen time :’( oh and referring to seph as a military weapon is killing me but gotta keep the character voice lmao

Imagine Alucard’s parents deciding to come back sooner than initially intended and being relieved to see how well their son is doing.
Bustling village right in front of the castle, doors always open for anyone to walk in at any time and someone standing right in front of them. Someone who seems oddly familiar, where has Dracula seen you before?
But you remember all too well. Those red eyes staring down at his son, completely overwhelmed by anger right before you and Adrian seperated and you eventually found him in his childhood bedroom, Dracula already dead.
And the woman next to him must be Lisa. Although you’ve never seen her before her death, her image had been immortalized in the family portraits hanging on the castle walls, and seeing her in person now, you realize who Adrian inherited his beauty from.
But hadn’t they died long ago? And if you aren’t imagining this, did Dracula come back to get his revenge? All you can do is stand there, frozen in shock with your hands defensively positioned in front of you.
And all his parents see is the shine of the wedding ring around your finger.

Ahhh I’m happy you think so anon! Lmao thank you for requesting I started this weeks ago and now I got the motivation to finish it I love him sm. Honestly I don't really like this one so I hope it's still fine, let me know what you guys think :)
A = Affection (How affectionate are they? How do they show affection?)
His affection shows in small ways like always making sure you have everything you need to be happy and healthy. He welcomes physical touch if you’re at home by yourself and is surprisingly more receptive to it than people might think.
Tseng has become so used to violence that his job almost made him cold-blooded. He has problems turning that mindset off but you have a way of making him more soft-hearted and bring the normalcy of human life with you.
His way of loving you stems from mutual trust and a deep respect for one another. He’s very considerate of your personal space and in a room full of people talking over you, his focus would only be on you.
B = Bed-sharing (Do they hog the covers? Do you have any personal space left?)
No problems at all! If you’re not in a cuddly mood, he is very conscious about not lying on your side of the bed in order to give both of you enough personal space because he does need it himself sometimes.
Other times he’s turned towards you, laying close to the middle of the bed. That’s your sign to cuddle up to him. Most of the time, he will hold you from the back and fall asleep like that. But as someone with a leading position at their job, he likes to free his mind of all the stress and occasionally lets you hold him instead. Feeling you run your hands through his hair and caressing his back is one of the best ways to calm him down and relieve the pressure of responsibility in the comfort of your privacy. Even if it’s just cuddling, he likes the feeling of relying on someone else for a change.
C = Comfort (Should you come to them for comfort?)
Tseng remains cool-headed and logical when you’re in distress. Whenever you’re panicking, he waits until you’ve calmed down to ask about whatever it is that has you stressing, a firm and reassuring hand rubbing circles on your upper back to slow your breathing. Training rookies has made him pretty resistant to the anxiety of other people and he stays calm himself. But that doesn’t mean you’re not worrying him, you very much are.
Giving you advice is his go-to solution, but he won’t coddle you. He’s never had someone to comfort him with affection and doesn’t know how to appropriately give it to you in difficult times, outside of reassuring comments, of course. He’s good at pulling you out of a bad headspace by remaining rational.
But not every problem can be solved with words—if at all. He’ll offer to spend some time with you, to simply exist in each other’s presence because he’s scared to leave you alone in your state. But he’s a little lost on how to help you and keeps thinking of solutions instead.
D = Date (What type of date would they prefer?)
He’s a typical gentleman, picking you up personally and already having the perfect place for a romantic dinner in mind. It doesn’t matter how fancy it is, he already walks around in suits on the daily and Shinra pays him enough to have money to splurge on you.
E = Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)
The thought of breaking up would be in the back of his mind for a long time before actually bringing it up. Then one day, he started contemplating about what to do. Is the issue in your relationship fixable? Perhaps he shouldn’t even be in one in the first place. Maybe he just can’t make a healthy relationship work with his job?
He eventually comes to a conclusion and decides to make it quick: Showing up at your place, he says you both need to talk. It immediately dawns on you that this must be it, he’s been talking to you less in the past few days anyway.
He seems distant but does still tell you he’s sorry. To anyone else he would sound heartless and cold, but you know him well enough and can see that this is just his typical defense mechanism, cutting himself off emotionally to stay detached from overwhelmingly emotional moments.
F = Flustered (How easily flustered are they? Is it obvious?)
Not visibly to the point of blushing, but he sometimes needs to avert his gaze while letting out a flustered chuckle. Remember that scene in crisis core where he covered his mouth? A bit like that, just to hide that you caught him off guard. He somehow always finds a smooth answer tho…
G = Government Name (Would they tell you their real name? What name do they want you to call them by?)
Good luck asking him in the beginning of your relationship because there will be things he’ll stay secretive about at first. And don’t even bother trying to find it out yourself, there’s not a single document accessible to you that has his real name on it. He doesn’t mean it in a bad way but he can’t help being extremely thorough when it comes to keeping his past a secret. But he doesn’t want to hide any important parts about himself from you so the deeper your bond, the closer he is to telling you. When he eventually does, it’ll likely just be a comment he makes in passing to not make a huge deal out of it. It feels relieving and surprisingly pretty good to tell someone he trusts about his secrets.
H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?)
Doesn’t initiate them often himself. If he does, it’s either to cheer you up or because he needs comfort himself and pulling you into his arms is the best way to get it without outright asking for it. His arms are firmly wrapped around you and he’ll stay that way for a while. You can’t see it, but his eyes are closed to fully focus on you, trying to distract himself from all the thoughts running through his mind.
I = I love you (How do they say the L-word?)
Tseng says it rarely to preserve the importance of the phrase and saves it for important or emotional moments when you either need to hear it most or he simply wants to express his feelings properly.
For example when he’s about to leave on a dangerous mission. He won’t tell you about how likely it is that he won’t return home anymore because you don’t deserve to be burdened with those worries. Instead, he tells you how much you mean to him before he leaves. Not with a grand display of love, a simple “I love you” suffices to reassure both him and you and not make it seem suspicious.
J = Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they’re jealous?)
He doesn’t get jealous that often. Tseng is a confident person, but if he does, he tells you that he doesn’t like whoever he’s jealous of. He might even add that they’re not good for you because admitting to his jealousy is uncomfortable and he would rather emphasize his point this way. It might not even be true, but he gets his point across and you can feel his slight annoyance. He can be a bit possessive.
Most of the jealousy comes from the way others treat you, maybe you like that they’re more affectionate than him? You can expect him to be around you more often when that happens.
K = Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?)
His kisses are firm and slow, kept to the privacy of your home. The only ones you’ll get in public are forehead kisses with his hand to the back of your head and his lips discreetly pressed against you for a quick moment. If he’s at work, he’ll keep a neutral expression on his face, look past the top of your head if he’s taller than you and meet the eyes of anyone who is looking, almost possessively. But this will most likely only happen in front of his most trusted Turks because he’s not big on public displays of affection.
L = Long distance (What are they like when away on a mission?)
You likely won’t hear that much from him. He wants to avoid worrying you as much as possible because he knows you already are anyway, so he’d quickly let you know that he’s okay when he’s already on the phone to report back to Rufus, for example. He’s got your number saved on his work phone but told you to only contact his private phone, just to be safe and avoid enemies of Shinra finding out about the connection between you two.
M = Morning (How are mornings spent with them?)
If you don’t have to get up with him, you likely won’t be woken up anyway because he’s very silent. Just because he gets up early in the morning doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t get to sleep in. He quietly leaves the bedroom to get ready for work but comes back to give you a gentle kiss on the forehead. Not to wake you up of course, although the sudden proximity startles you awake sometimes. Your sleepy confusion is so adorable to him and he sometimes wishes he could call in sick to stay with you a bit longer. But his work ethic is strong and he ends up reassuring you that everything is fine and that he’ll be back later.
If you do get up with him, he’ll be very pleased to have your company. That’s probably also the only way to get him to eat a proper breakfast, a healthy life style is important to him but he does neglect it sometimes in favor of sleeping in with you a little longer…
N = Night (How are nights spent with them?)
Poor thing has a horrible sleep schedule and comes home tired after long days at work, his usual calm demeanor is even more apparent now with how slowly he’s moving. Nights with him are quiet and relaxing. The little energy he has left is reserved for late night conversations over dinner or cuddling before you eventually have to chase him into bed because he would absolutely stay up even longer just to get more time with his lover.

After becoming the leader of the Turks, he probably wouldn’t want to date one of his subordinates to keep things professional. Fearing for the life of his partner frequently also isn’t exactly pleasant to say the least.
But sometimes there’s that one special person who you just can’t help getting attached to…
It’s just that you’re around him so much and you’re so very charming that you’ve piqued his interest. Especially if you’ve worked together for a while and there’s already a certain level of that trust that he values so much, your connection seems to have formed naturally.
P = Protective (How protective are they? How would they protect you?)
He’s very protective and tries his best to prevent anything from happening to you in the first place. For example if you’re both out on a date, he’d notice immediately if anyone has bad intentions. It’s like a little instinct he has developed over the years. Most of the time it’s enough for him to give that person a stern look before they even make their way towards you. But if they do, he tries to discreetly remove you from the situation, leading you away from them with a hand on your waist as to not alarm you.
Other than that, the Turks excel in surveillance, so if he’s not around you and worried about your safety, he’ll know where to look for you.
Tseng ensures your safety whenever he can, for example when he drives you back home. He’s the type of person that would wait in the car and watch until you’ve safely made it inside the building.
Q = Quizzes (How much would they remember about you? Do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?)
He remembers more than you think he does. Sometimes it seems like he might not be paying a lot of attention, for example when he’s occupied with something and just hums in agreement while you’re telling him something. But he is listening and if you bring it up again some time later, you’ll see how much attention he was actually paying, despite having seemed absentminded. You’ve probably asked him if he remembered what you told him about a couple of times, preparing to freshen up his memory and then being surprised that he actually did. However, the finer details occasionally slip his mind.
To make up for that, he easily picks up on things you might not even notice about yourself, like tiny mannerisms or behaviors you’re not aware of. And he makes mental notes about things you’re particularly passionate about or interested in. That knowledge will come in handy to make you happy one day.
R = Remember (What is their favorite moment in your relationship?)
Not very exciting but honestly? It’s the moments where he can simply exist in your presence. When he can be himself without the title of ‘Turk’ or ‘Boss’ and just be Tseng again. The Tseng before everything the Turks went through, before the organization started keeping them on a tight leash. The moments in which he allows himself to simply feel and be vulnerable because he knows you’ll be understanding. Although he does tell you not to worry about him, it absolutely warms his heart if you do.
S = Secrets (How fast do they open up to you?)
At the beginning you barely know anything about his past but as your relationship goes on, he slowly starts telling you tiny details about his family, why he joined Shinra and his childhood. Just little on-topic comments that you’ll have to piece together to get the full picture.
You’ve tried asking him to tell you more but he only gave you short answers that weren’t much more insightful than the little comments he makes sometimes. Tseng prefers taking his time and opening up whenever a suitable moment comes.
He doesn’t show too much emotion while talking about these things but if you pay close attention there’s a hint of melancholy and nostalgia in the tone of his voice.
T = Texting (How do they text you?)
Short messages mostly, quickly gets to the point. He loves to spare a moment of his time to text you in the middle of doing paperwork because he’s already seen your message pop up on his phone earlier anyway. Despite always trying to quickly write all the mission reports, your messages always stay in the back of his mind and distract him because he can’t stop thinking about answering you. He hopes you don’t take it personally whenever it takes a while and that the replies usually come late at night when he’s done for the day.
U = Under the weather (What are they like when sick?)
Since his body is strong enough to withstand basically any injury, it’s barely noticeable when he’s sick because he can handle it well.
But once in a blue moon he gets the flu. Head aching, fever dangerously high but you know who is sitting in his office chair, scribbling on paper despite shaking from the cold? Yes. At least he knows that going on a mission would be too dangerous in his state, but who said he couldn’t use this as an opportunity to get the paperwork out of the way?
He greatly appreciates you coming in to bring him a hot tea to drink, the office really is cold today, isn’t it? No Tseng, it’s not and you’re just sick. And despite all your protests, the only way he’d stay home and rest is probably if you tied him to the bed…
V = Vanity (How concerned are they with their looks?)
As the leader of the Turks, a professional appearance comes with the job. A suit tailored to his exact measurements, not a single strand of hair ever out of place, and eyeliner always immaculate. He takes great care of his hair and has been letting it grow ever since he got his position, only ever cutting the dead ends off to keep it healthy.
W = Whole (Would they feel incomplete without you?)
As someone who doesn’t really have anyone to rely on emotionally in his personal life, it would be very apparent that something is suddenly missing. Maybe he didn’t realize how much he actually needed someone to help him mentally escape his daily life until you weren’t there with him anymore. He won’t feel emotionally fulfilled any longer.
X = Xtra (A random headcanon for them.)
He never officially tells anyone about your relationship but he makes it obvious. Everyone knows that there’s something going on between you two because of the way he behaves around you, looking from you to the faces of those with prying eyes with a subtle smirk. If they’re so curious to know he might as well make it obvious that you’re his, right?
Y = Yearning (Is it obvious that they like you? How long does it take them to make the first move?)
It’s not obvious in ways he would be oblivious to because if he likes you and is sure that he wants to be with you, he doesn’t mind showing how his eyes light up when seeing you or how his smile is warmer when you’re the cause for it. Other ways you would notice is if you compared the way he speaks to you to how he talks to others. There’s a more caring tone to his voice and he’s more curious about mundanities if they’re related to you. Like asking about your day isn’t just regular small talk but a genuine question.
Tseng will not start a committed relationship until he’s at least a 1,000% sure that it would actually last. He wants to avoid as much additional stress as possible and he can’t afford the pain of going through a breakup.
Z = Zzz (What is a sleep habit of theirs?)
He wakes up very easily because all the stress keeps him from fully relaxing. But when he does actually get some rest it’s really nice to watch him sleep. Not even in a creepy way, but it’s nice to see how his features soften and how his usually slicked back hair frames his face. He’s a quiet and pretty sleeper.

- Although this might sound a little mean, Reno thinks your reputation for always getting injured can be kind of funny at times. If the injury isn’t serious he tries to lighten up the situation by joking about how you’re the reason why the first aid kit needs to be restocked ten times a week and how he could probably start working as a nurse with how often he has had to patch you up.
- But you made him realize how glad he is to have completed the Turk’s mandatory first aid course. He’s seen every injury imaginable on you but sometimes the state you return to headquarters in still shocks him.
- The Turks have access to a variety of materia, and one day he came up to you because he’s “got a surprise for you.” and simply placed one in your hand. He put in a special request for a fully developed Cure materia.
- But then he found you lying on the ground one time, unable to move and use it after having been hurled across a field by an enemy. Even though he knows you’ll bounce back eventually, his worry about what might happen to you made him get his own Cure materia. If it’s for your sake, he can suck up his pride about never having owned one before because of how much of a professional he is, obviously.
- But how does he react to serious injuries?
- One time you were assigned on a mission with Reno and Rude to survey another mako reactor. Nothing unusual about it, Tseng knows to send his best Turks to get the job done quickly in case of abnormally high monster activity. Only that this time the high mako concentration made the monsters more aggressive and hostile than usual.
- It all happened in a flash—one second you were fighting a monster, still unscathed but not anywhere near the others—and then you were lying on the ground, looking up at Reno as he came running towards you. A slight burning sensation started to spread in your stomach and the hand that you momentarily pressed against it came back dripping with blood.
- Reno picked you up and you got a short glance at the pool of blood you were laying in before he ran away with you in his arms. Aborting a mission, even for the sake of saving a colleague, is always a terrible idea. But that thought didn’t cross his mind once, instead doing his best to get you back to the helicopter in safety.
- His hands were shaking frantically while trying to stop the bleeding and he kept mumbling about how he needed to get his shit together before you lost too much blood. He seemed very annoyed at the situation but don’t misinterpret his expression, that’s just the way his panic shows.
Once he had the situation under control, he lightly scolded you for being too careless until he saw the pained expression on your face. He already hates to see you wince in pain when applying rubbing alcohol to your wounds and putting so much pressure on your injury to stop the blood is hurting you as well. But it needed to be done in order to keep you alive.
- He sat in the back with you, shouting at Rude—who came back noticeably later than you two—to hurry it up and start the helicopter. You were laying on the bench seat and he stayed kneeling at your side, trying his best to keep you conscious. But the blood loss eventually made you pass out.
- You woke up at Shinra’s hospital and saw him sitting next to your bed, suit jacket carelessly thrown on the back of the chair and his head tipped forward. He was sleeping. Despite the dim lighting in the room, you could see his exhaustion in the dark circles under his eyes. You wonder if he’d ever admit that his worry for you had robbed him of a good night’s rest.
- He told you he was ready to get his ass beat for abandoning the mission and defending you, but luckily Rude took care of everything after you ran away. Turns out he played a big role in the monsters not chasing you out of the reactor.
- Tseng advised you to take some time off work to heal properly. Although Reno is always bored out of his mind when forced to stay home due to injuries, do not let him catch you at work when you’re instructed to do so. He will personally drive you back to your place and make you rest.
- Don’t worry about missing out on anything though! He’ll show up at your door uninvited because he obviously doesn’t have anywhere else to be (he’s still so fucking worried) and you could use the company (he needs to tell you about the latest gossip)
- Reno is used to seeing you with minor injuries, but terror gets ahold of him whenever you’re gravely injured, something he’ll never get used to. But you will always have someone who will come running to your aid when it matters most.
By the way I recently noticed how he looked back at Tseng when he was sitting in the cockpit and :( he really wanted to help but there was nothing he could have done
I saw that you were worried that you might have written Elena a little ooc, so I want to say that I think you've created a very canon Elena and I'm sure that's exactly how she behaves according to canon!!
Can you write Elena headcanons with a co-worker reader. But the reader is a Turk before her (like Cissnei and Reno with Rude) and that's why they need time to get used to Elena and start to be friends and work with her (because Reno and Rude also didn't spend much time with Elena at first, I think because she's new and doesn't know Shinra like they do, they were afraid to get close to her because their other friends were killed in before crisis).
But Elena thinks that the reader simply hates her and is trying to do everything to impress them and make them like her (but they already do, she just doesn't know)

- Elena is in awe of your ability to cooperate so well with your colleagues while also standing out with your own abilities. You quickly caught her attention and she admires you, initially seeing you as somewhat of a mentor.
- While she is ecstatic to have the opportunity to train and work with you, she starts to realize how strong your bonds with the other Turks are. No problem though, you’ll both get there over time!
- Except you don’t. For some reason she can’t seem to get any closer to you and it bothers her. It’s normal to be more comfortable around people you’ve known for a long time, but nothing has changed between you since you first met.
- She starts overthinking every training session and mission you’ve been on together and something stood out to her: Rude is so much stronger than her. Reno is still faster than her. Are they easier to work with? But she’s pulling her own weight and Tseng trusts her enough to send her on dangerous missions, she must be doing well.
- Eventually, she comes to the conclusion that, since she’s relatively new to the team, not all hope is lost and she’ll still find a way to impress you. She’s been doing pretty well despite being so new, she’s got great potential.
- And then her personal mission to try and find a way to impress you begins:
Going on early morning jogs in hopes that you hear her door slam shut in the Turk’s living quarter. Having such a disciplined routine should show you how committed she is to her job, right?
Showing off her finest moves in the midst of combat while hoping that your attention is on her in that moment. And by the way, did she already tell you that she was an expert in martial arts before she even became a Turk?
Always taking the initiative and piloting the helicopter whenever she gets the chance, never sitting in the backseat but instead next to you, and have you realized how fast she picked up on the controls???
- This goes on until she eventually pushes herself too far and reaches her limit. You find her sitting on the gym’s floor with her head leaning against the wall, color drained from her face and insisting that she’s fine. But you’re worried.
- A pat on her back. Telling her that she’s already doing good enough and shouldn’t overexert her body. How improvement comes naturally. You really do only see her as a rookie, don’t you?
- Or maybe you just don’t like her as a person.
Your worry about Elena doesn’t stop, she’s become so distant, less enthusiastic and almost annoyed that you’re asking yourself if something has happened to discourage her. Or maybe old memories came back to haunt her, memories of her sister.
One day, you see her sitting all by herself at headquarters, looking defeated. She looks up at you as soon as she notices your presence and after a short moment of hesitation when you asked why she’s been feeling so down, she opens up to you.
“I just don’t understand why you hate me so much. Every day I try to get your attention and for what? You don’t even joke around with me like you do with the others!”
Although her frustration is visible, you can tell she’s hurting inside. You decide to be honest, as a Turk she deserves to know how serious this job can get.
This is the first time she hears the full story of what happened, aside from the fact that her sister had gone missing. She’s surprised to find out that you’ve been around when her sister was still active as a Turk, and that there were many others that had reportedly died in action. Many others that you had considered your friends.
“You worked with my sister?”
They never had a close relationship, but hearing that you knew her personally makes her even more attached to you, despite their one-sided rivalry caused by Elena’s jealousy of her sister’s talent.
You gently place your hand on top of hers, pulling her mind out of her sorrows and her eyes towards you. She intently listens to your apology for making her feel like an outcast, explaining that in your line of work, emotional attachment is avoided as much as possible. So many deaths have taught you this, so many friends suddenly gone because of the nature of your job. You can’t afford to open your heart for anyone anymore in order to protect yourself from the pain of mourning.
But sometimes it can’t be helped and Elena has managed to find her way into your heart despite your efforts. The enthusiastic rookie who breathes new life into your dynamic, who is so endearing in her attempts to make you like her.
She’s quietly looking at the hand placed on top of hers. Contemplating. While she’s relieved to hear that she was wrong about the assumption that she’s not good enough for you, the reality of her job is starting to dawn on her. Sure, she’s always been aware of the dangers and has been in dire situations herself, but hearing to what extremes it can go wakes her up and she realizes that those desperate attempts to prove herself could’ve led to her downfall.
But would she really be Elena if that dampened her spirits? No, she trusts herself enough to persevere through any challenges she might face.
You jolt in surprise when she grasps your hand resting on top of hers, holding it tightly instead and turning to look you in the eye with her usual determined expression.
“Well, you’ve made it this far, right? Who’s to say I can’t become a great Turk like you?”
Ironic, isn’t it? When the rookie you’ve been training suddenly becomes the one to motivate you, to show you that a positive attitude towards the future might make the pain more bearable.

Missing You
Thank you so much anon, I’m glad you liked them! When I posted those hcs I was kinda scared that people would be disappointed because Tseng got the angsty ones lmao. But here are two short scenarios I’ve been thinking about lately ^^
CW: implied intimacy but not graphic, mention of blood (scene of seph piercing him through the stomach </3)
Tseng tries to keep your interactions to a minimum but he takes his responsibilities very seriously, and when all his Turks are already assigned on missions except for you and him and an important one comes up? He is secretly happy about the opportunity to spend some alone time with you.
The nature of your relationship makes him seem a bit colder than he is towards the others. Yes, he’s still kind and extremely respectful, and being the ex-partner of your boss makes others jealous of the special treatment you get. But even though he longs to speak to you about how your life has been going, would that really be the smartest decision to make if he’s trying so hard to rid himself of his feelings for you?
But this inner turmoil paired with the stress that comes with his new position eventually make him cave.
Your mission with Tseng is longer than they normally are, and on the second day he’s mentally exhausted. All the seemingly innocent touches, dragged out just to feel the other’s warmth once again, the sad look in your eyes that doesn’t need explaining because he knows he’s the cause of it.
And as you’re waiting in the inn’s hallway, you wonder why he only returned with one key tonight. You ask him if the inn is fully booked and he tells you he just wanted to talk to you. There you have it, he did it on purpose and wants you there with him.
But his plans go out the window when the tension between you pulls your bodies towards each other, and for the first time in a while, the normalcy of your past relationship returns.
This will be the last time he’ll ever hold you in his arms, he tells himself when you hesitantly bury your face in the crook of his neck afterwards, curious to see if he’d reciprocate. And of course he does. Although he tries to be emotionally detached, he still cares about your feelings and could never push you away after being intimate. He doesn’t want you to get the idea that he’s using you for his pleasure, there’s so much more to it and it’s obvious with the way he pulls you closer ever so slightly.
Tseng is notoriously susceptible to injuries and while he was always at your side after you hurt yourself, you were the one sitting next to his bed in Shinra’s infirmary most of the time. At the beginning of your rookie days, this was quite humorous to witness, almost cute. Never did Veld have to wonder about your sudden absence if one of you was injured.
But of course, Tseng became more conscious of his responsibilities as he rose in the ranks and came to the conclusion that two Turks missing while only one was bedridden could be detrimental to the group’s performance. And they certainly didn’t need any more reasons to upset the board.
Eventually, these once frequent visits to the infirmary stopped. Of course he still checked up on you occasionally, but whenever he was injured he urged you to get back to work, almost upset to see you wasting your time on him. But what if he can’t tell you to go away anymore?
You found him to the sound of a gunshot echoing through the temple of the ancients, obscured by the image of Sephiroth before he faded away. There he was, leaning against the pillar in the middle of the open area, blood gushing from the gash in his stomach.
He’s become accustomed to the danger of fatal injuries after all these years, but he’s never seen such a panicked look on your face. Your frantic hands trying to quell the bleeding and thumb wiping away the blood that he hadn’t even noticed was leaking from his mouth made him realize that this might not be an injury he can simply walk off.
You managed to drag him back home, back to Shinra. Back to the infirmary. But he can’t tell you to leave now, not when he’s unconscious. Even after several days, the wires protruding from his hospital gown and the beeping of the heart rate monitor remind you of the shaky tone of voice with which he apologized to you. An apology that sounded similar to the one from your breakup. It’s unclear to you whether he was apologizing once again for leaving you or if he was simply sorry for being so careless. Maybe you could ask him once he wakes up. He might tell you the truth about his feelings this time. Or maybe he won’t ever give in to them again.
You have finally dragged yourself up the temple stairs and as attentive as ever, your boyfriend immediately noticed your lack of energy and posture that has him wondering if you’re about to collapse and curl into a ball.
“I’m on my period.”
“Which period?”
Through your pain-clouded mind, you muster up an explanation in the most simplest of words: “If there’s no baby in my womb, I bleed once a month.” Ah yes, the biological phenomenon referred to as a “menstruation.” Of course he’s heard of it.
“I could cook you some onion soup again dear, but I’m not certain it would be to your liking in your current state…”
After a moment of pondering, he came up with a solution. Now where was that book on herbs again?
“Cal. I’ve had these for years now. I promise I know what to do”, you interrupt him before he can get very far into his search.
“Right. My apologies.”
So adorable, always trying to help. But there is no way he can just let you sit in agony when all you wanted was a nice evening at his place. And then his gaze wanders over to his bed.
He picks you up from your position on the cold ground and carries you there, gently laying you down on your usual side. Kneeling next to you on the floor, his hand starts caressing your lower abdomen, careful with his claws as not to accidentally scratch you.
“Would you tell me how I can help? Warmth would surely help, yes?”

Yearning for You
Rude! Thank you for the request anon, he’s so underrated. I finally started rebirth and just fought him and Elena yay. I’m not sure if I did this correctly but I hope you still like it :)
- From the moment you first met, Rude has had his heart set on overcoming his awkwardness that always cuts your conversations short. He knows he’s not the most talkative guy and that he comes across as very direct, even if he doesn’t always mean it. And this gets ten times worse whenever you’re around. Like a mental block that appears every time you make a flirty joke, his awkwardness gets the better of him and he just can’t answer at all.
- Hearing you talk about pretty much anything has him longing to finally gather all his courage and ask you to stay a little longer with him at the bar. But he doesn’t want to risk making you uncomfortable. Would he come across as too direct, as always? Would his tone of voice sound too harsh? Before he can make his decision you’ve already stood up and waved him goodbye while he’s still sitting there, already regretting not having spoken up.
- And as soon as he gets home all the things you’ve said race through his mind and he mentally facepalms at how boring his answers are. Seriously? The best he could do was huff in embarrassment after you gave him a compliment? What a way to make yourself look cocky, hopefully he doesn’t come across like a certain someone.
- Speaking of that certain someone, he doesn’t want Reno around whenever you’re there. He’s too noisy and chatty, and coupled with Rude’s reserved nature he’s more likely to take charge in conversations. He wants your sweet voice and stories about your daily life all to himself, no matter how mundane they may seem to you. He looks forward to hearing what's been going on in your life every day.
- Sometimes he wonders if he should even be around you in the first place. What if he corrupts you? His job doesn’t exactly make him a good person and his insecurity about not being the one you deserve makes him wonder if he’s taking advantage of your kindness and understanding.
But when you invite him to go out for the first time? He’s over the moon. Now he’s got the sign that he’s been waiting for: You’re interested in him. Maybe all the flirty jokes actually had a deeper meaning to them after all. And maybe he should allow himself to give in to his feelings. He said it himself, he’s a good guy who has to do bad things sometimes.
- He sometimes wishes he could be a bit more talkative, to overcome his shyness and tell you what you mean to him. How he longs for more than just friendship with casual flirting, how he wishes you could be his. To hold you gently and treat you like a gentleman, to have a little bit of softness in a life so full of violence.
- But what he doesn’t realize is that the signs are still there: His body is always turned towards you, subconsciously showing you he’s interested and wants to have you closer. Or when the light hits his face the right way and you can see past the dark shades directly into his eyes, always looking into yours.
- As time passes, he starts to overcome his awkwardness and shyness and asks you out properly.
…Or maybe not properly…he prefers to be more subtle, in the beginning at least. He might not directly ask you out on a date but he figures inviting you out to a romantic dinner and making a reservation for a table where you’ll both be unbothered and can enjoy your time together make his implications clear.
And when he’s convinced that you’re the one he wants to spend his life with, he confidently asks you to be his partner, fully devoted to you.

Reno as your Ex-Boyfriend!
Hi, thank you for your request anon!! This was very interesting to think about and I think I accidentally made it too much about how he’s feeling instead of focusing on his interactions with reader but I hope this is still ok!
- Before the realization of your relationship being over fully settled, the only thing repeating in his mind was „Yeah, whatever.“
- Until the first night he was lying in bed alone. When you were still together, you had to spend a lot of time apart from each other, but this is different. He can’t just text you whenever he feels like it. He can’t just call you randomly. You’re gone from his life now and he can’t even think about you anymore without his feelings tearing a hole into his heart.
- And now he’s absolutely miserable. Every time you see him he’s got his typical look of distress on his face, eyebrows furrowed in annoyance but his eyes filled with sadness, always taking a good look at you before turning around and walking away.
- He hates you seeing him like this because it makes him feel pathetic and humiliated. He can’t put on a careless expression, not when it’s about you.
- You know that look all too well — the one that made you worry about his well-being, the one that had you pulling him aside to ask if he’s alright. But the bond between you is severed now and there’s no use in consoling someone when you’re the reason for their troubles.
- But the worst part is that he can’t ensure your safety now. You were always at risk of being a target for enemies of shinra because of your connection to Reno. During your relationship you were only a call away and showing up at your door unannounced during times you were a little too quiet was not surprising. Of course not, why would you be confused about your boyfriend worrying about your safety?

- The first time he heard you purring you were leaning your head on his shoulder and accidentally dozed off while watching a movie. It wasn’t very interesting and Reno was trying his hardest to pay attention when he noticed a strange sound coming from you. You jolted awake when he asked you if you were okay, thinking you were having breathing problems. Until you fell back asleep again and he realized that Oh! You’re purring!
- And now he’s got a new thing to tease you about and oh, how much he loves it. In his mind he brags to himself about making you feel comfortable enough to let out your sweet little sounds.
- He absolutely loves it when you nuzzle him, especially in the crook of his neck so that he can give you a kiss on the top of your head. He always takes it as a sign that you’d like to cuddle and chuckles, “Yeah yeah, I gotcha.”
- At the beginning he jokingly started calling you kitty whenever you reminded him of a cat. But you know how you get used to saying something after a while if you mention it multiple times? Yeah, sometimes it slips out when he didn’t mean it to, oopsie.
- He’s probably a playful biter. But if you bite him back with your fangs he yelps in surprise. He didn’t realize how sharp they were, you really do seem like a cat. He bites back lightly after pouting about how that’s not fair. You’ve got the natural advantage >:(
- And his favorite part is waking up with you and seeing you blinking slowly before nuzzling into him. And if he’s lucky, he might hear you purring softly before you fall back asleep.
Hi guys! I decided to open my requests for the 4 main Turks.
Just fyi, I have not played Rebirth yet and my characterization comes from the cut scenes I’ve watched, the other games, books and sometimes the movie. This especially applies to Elena since she has less screen time than the others.
- I’ll only do SFW requests, suggestive is ok but I won’t write any sexual scenes
- I only write x reader, not character x character
- I like to keep reader as neutral as possible as to not play into stereotypes, every person is different even in the same demographic
- If you want all four characters at the same time, please only request headcanons

A = Affection (How affectionate are they? How do they show affection?)
His absolute favorite way to show affection in public without being lovey-dovey is having his arm around your shoulder. All. The. Time.
You could just be minding your own business and suddenly feel someone slinging their arm around your shoulder and you’ll immediately know it’s Reno. You’ve seen him do this to others before, trying to get them to do him a favor. But after a while you realized that he genuinely just wants to be by your side. It’s his way of telling you that hey, you should spend some time with him.
Shove him away from you whenever he puts too much weight on you though, sometimes he gets so distracted from how much he laughs in your presence.
B = Bed-sharing (Do they hog the covers? Do you have any personal space left?)
He would not hog the covers because he’s sprawled all over you. So no, no personal space unless you tell him you want it. Secretly loves being held in your arms but only if he knows you wouldn’t tease him about it.
But sometimes he gets petty over small things you’ve done and lays down at the other side of the bed as he’s huffing about how you haven’t come to apologize yet. But hugging him from the back might just do the trick as well.
C = Comfort (Should you come to them for comfort?)
If he notices you’re not feeling well, the curious side of him becomes a little pushy to try to get you to talk. But if you’re adamant about not needing anyone at the moment, he tells you that you know where to find him.
And when you do decide to open up, he’s actually very pleasant to talk to. He stays serious if the situation calls for it and his presence is very calming: his body language is relaxed as always but his eyes are fixed on your face to read your expression. Tells you there’s nothing to be embarrassed about if you have trouble maintaining eye contact or seem uncomfortable. He won’t judge, he’s got his own problems.
He’s very honest and tells you his opinion if you need one. If you’re troubled by how badly you’re treated by other people he’ll take your side, he’s always very defensive when people he cares about are harmed by others, whether it’s physically or emotionally.
D = Date (What type of date would they prefer?)
Doesn’t enjoy fancy stuff most of the time, he’s too laid back to go to one of those restaurants those “snobby people” go to, basically everything topside of Midgar.
He likes to show up to your place uninvited for random date nights. At least he brings your favorite take out and you get free food…
E = Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)
Similarly to how he’d take a lot of time to actually start a serious relationship with you, he would put off breaking up with you. He’s realized that your relationship already came to an end a while ago but letting go is difficult. He doesn’t want you to not be a part of his life anymore, even if you barely talk now and you’re not each other’s priority anymore. It would feel so much more real if it officially came to an end.
He drags it out until you break up with him yourself, accepting the decision you both had already made long ago.
F = Flustered (How easily flustered are they? Is it obvious?)
You’re pretty much the only person that can make him blush and stutter a little. It happens rarely, but if you time it right you’ll see the shy side of Reno! For example when he’s teasing you about liking him and you respond with a heartfelt compliment instead of denying it. You’re being so unfair, catching him off guard like that >:(
G = Government Name (Would they tell you their real name? What name do they want you to call them by?)
If Reno is just a fake name that was given to him when he joined the Turks, it would be the name most people know him by. So he doesn’t really think about being anyone other than Reno most of the time. He probably won’t mention it for a long time until he randomly tells you what he’s actually called, just a random and unimportant fun fact.
He would feel weird if you called him by his real name though, Reno has become much more natural by now and doesn’t remind him of his life before Shinra.
H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?)
Yes…the arm around your shoulder…he just loves side hugs. And trust that he’s always clinging to you in some way in the privacy of your own home, especially when he’s hugging you from the back and looking over your shoulder to watch what you’re doing.
I = I love you (How do they say the L-word?)
Most of the time you’ll get lots of “love ya”s from him but if one of you is feeling vulnerable and needs reassurance he says the full phrase properly, to really emphasize how much he loves you. To make sure you actually know. Very rarely but he always means it.
J = Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they’re jealous?)
Sometimes it does get a little bad, depending on how severe his insecurity about himself is at the moment. Yes, he’s very proud of who he is but even a person like Reno has doubts about themselves at times.
If he frequently sees you with a person who worsens his insecurity or someone he simply doesn’t like, no matter if it’s lighthearted flirting, or just a normal conversation, he gets pissy. And he can be very confrontational, either directly to you or the person you’re talking to. So yes, you will know whenever he’s jealous because he outright tells you that he doesn’t like who you spend your time with.
But it’s not that severe to the point of getting jealous of you spending a lot of time with friends or family.
K = Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?)
He likes giving you little pecks on the lips while playfully flirting with you, eyes full of love with kisses so short because he can’t suppress his smile. It’s like he can’t have you saying more than a sentence at a time because he just needs to kiss you.
Other than that, his kisses are lazy and slow at the beginning but with his hands running all over your body they quickly become heated.
L = Long distance (What are they like when away on a mission?)
Before he leaves he tells you not to worry and that he’ll be fine, even while realistically knowing that he might just not come back one day. Still, he’s confident enough to make that promise to you and never mentions the danger of it.
The number of times you’ll hear from him depends on what type of mission he goes on. Looking for SOLDIER recruits? Be prepared to have him complain on the phone about how he’s in the middle of nowhere and how bored he is.
But if it’s a serious mission? Only risks sending you a message asking how you’re doing when he’s got a moment of rest. He’d rather hear you talk about your day than explain how he’s feeling. Probably not very talkative as he gets quieter when feeling guilty, but your voice calms his mind.
M = Morning (How are mornings spent with them?)
He has difficulties getting out of bed for early morning shifts and lets the alarm clock ring until it accidentally wakes you up too. Puts it on snooze, turns around groggily for morning cuddles and dozes off until the alarm goes off again and he gets up with a groan. He kisses you goodbye before getting ready and looks forward to returning to your warm embrace when he’ll see you again.
N = Night (How are nights spent with them?)
Always invites you to go out for a drink after work where you’ll get to spend time with Rude as well! He’s around the both of you so much that it never surprises you anymore when he’s already sitting there, Reno doesn’t even mention he’ll join you because it’s a given.
Later you’ll go to your place (he swears your bed is more comfortable than his) and spend the rest of the night catching up on a show you’ve been watching. Reno loves to laze around with you while talking about anything and everything and probably not even paying attention to whatever’s on TV.
O = Occupation (Would they prefer their partner to be a Turk? Would they want you to be unaffiliated with Shinra?)
Who else could understand his circumstances better than someone in the same position as him? That feeling of being understood feels more sincere if you knew which crimes he’s had to commit for his job. If you don’t have anything to do with Shinra, you’re definitely not getting the whole truth out of him as he fears it might corrupt your view of him.
He’d feel more comfortable with you if you had the same job, yes. But a part of him wishes you wouldn’t for your own safety.
P = Protective (How protective are they? How would they protect you?)
If anyone is bothering you while he’s there, he’ll be by your side in a second with his arm around your waist. It works wonders coupled with either a grin or a pissed off stare in their direction, depending on the situation. And they’ll obviously also get a snarky comment, but he’ll try to hold back on anything else, he doesn’t need Tseng getting wind of one of the Turks drawing too much attention unnecessarily. But if he sees how upset you are that thought goes out the window, he’s not letting anyone mess with his people.
Q = Quizzes (How much would they remember about you? Do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?)
He remembers the most random and unimportant things sometimes. Especially if it’s something he could tease you about later. It’s like there’s a drawer inside his brain just for stupid things he can pull out of his ass to bother you. Also very good at remembering gossip. You could update him about whatever person XYZ did and he’d continue the conversation as if no time has passed at all.
R = Roadtrip (What is traveling with them like?)
Do not let him drive. Seriously, his driving is so reckless that you can’t even rest and close your eyes for a second because you feel like the car might crash at any second. Obviously he assures you that he knows what he’s doing and that you should relax and surprisingly? Nothing has ever happened.
S = Secrets (How fast do they open up to you?)
It’ll take him a while to open up about his past as he doesn’t like dwelling on it too much but you’ll sometimes have deep talks where he opens up to you. He feels more comfortable being vulnerable with you when you’re telling him about your own life but isn’t going to say much otherwise. He’d rather think about the present, what’s happened has happened.
T = Texting (How do they text you?)
He sends you the most random shit sometimes and abbreviates everything he can to the point where his messages are barely comprehensible. Imagine reading a text he sent you while half asleep and having to decide if he actually said something or if it was just a keyboard smash. And sometimes you’ll get selfies of him shirtless or standing in front of the mirror after a shower with his tongue sticking out, such a little tease.
U = Under the weather (What are they like when sick?)
Drags his ass to work because it’s not actually that serious, right? He doesn’t need a break, he’s fine. Until you force him to lay down and he starts enjoying the attention you give him. Cue the whining about dying and needing to be babied because he’s too weak. And just wait until he starts pulling you under the covers with him and you also get sick, he gets so clingy. So he basically either completely denies not feeling well or fully leans into it to be coddled by you!
His behavior ends up being kinda cute tho, lots of pouting and his pathetic “Baby :( Stay :(“ is pretty convincing.
V = Vanity (How concerned are they with their looks?)
His looks are important to him, as soon as his roots start showing he dyes his hair again. He probably tries his best to take care of his hair in general but it’s pretty dead considering how vibrant the red always is…
He also feels so cool in the Turk’s uniform and loves how intimated everyone looks when seeing him. Everyone can tell he’s special, you know? That’s why you’ll never catch him in a dirty suit, he needs to keep up his image obviously.
W = Whole (Would they feel incomplete without you?)
Absolutely. He values all of his close relationships so so much even though it was drilled into his head that, as a Turk, you never know if your loved ones will still be there the next day.
X = Xtra (A random headcanon for them.)
He feels like he owes his life to shinra. They were there when he had nothing and made him grow into the person he is today, his job gives him a sense of security he’s never had before. No wonder how much emphasis he puts on rebuilding shinra despite all the damage they’ve caused.
On a happier note, Rude probably played a huge part in you two getting together. Since he’s the one he always confides in, he helped Reno accept his feelings for you.
Y = Yearning (Is it obvious that they like you? How long does it take them to make the first move?)
We all know he’s the flirty type but when he realizes he’s genuinely developed feelings for you? He tones it down so much that you wonder if he stopped seeing you as the attractive person you’ve always been in his eyes and now sees you as just a friend, like you’ve developed such a close relationship that it became clear to him that you’re just not someone he’s interested in romantically. But you’re so wrong. And if you get suspicious you could always try to get the truth out of Rude, he’s definitely noticed. He might even drop a little hint to help his friend out…
I’ve already made two posts about how he’d be hesitant to commit to a relationship so to keep it short: You’ll have to wait for a looong time.
Z = Zzz (What is a sleep habit of theirs?)
He sleep talks, most of the time it’s Rude’s name. He’s always calling out to him, no wonder it’s happening while he’s asleep as well. Who knows if he’s dreaming or if it’s just a random thing he says. But him saying your name and making you think he wants to talk about something is even worse.
