"I don't go here" with the Love and Deepspace fandom, but my friends do, and they've kept me up to date with the fandom drama around the cancellation of a new character.

The company is supposed to be at Anime Expo this weekend, and of course I'm there for my job. I'm morbidly curious to see what their exhibition hall booth space looks like. Big industry boots are fabricated in advance of conventions and have to be created and constructed by specialty companies. You can't just reskin them on a dime, and construction of most of these boots began yesterday (Tuesday), the same day they canceled the character in question. Hanging banners have already been installed across the convention center.

Given the character was supposed to debut on July 9, I'm guessing most of their signage was advertising the new content that they have since canceled.

It's too late to get booths refabricated and art assets reprinted on a large scale. I'm half expecting to show up and see big black vinyl stickers covering any images of the canceled character.

I'll find out in the next hour or so. The public will find out when the hall opens on Thursday. I don't envy their team right now. I imagine they are all scrambling to try and salvage this as best as they can, but this weekend is going to be a nightmare for them.

Kuwabara grows jealous of Hiei because every following tournament in Makai sounds more and more like Yusuke found a new rival in Hiei. And Kuwabara is forgotten and left out because his rivalry with Yusuke is always one-sided. He's never ever able to compare to Yusuke, or Hiei for that matter, so he's left behind by the person he called his rival.

Enter Hiei who's able to read him, his thoughts and his actions, while they're in the middle of a sparring match. Hiei gets pissed by Kuwabara's self-depreciation and suddenly uses his Kokuryuuha on Kuwabara.

Kuwabara whips out his jigentou and rips the black dragon in half because the dimensional sword can cut anything. He freaks out like, "What the fuck, Hiei? I could have died!"

And Hiei replies like, "But you didn't. And that means you're not beneath me."

Kuwabara blushes, knowing that Hiei was able to read him. That's Hiei's sweetest most sincere compliment for him ever.
