content warning; smut (unprotected sex, menstrual cycle sex, creampie, max being a softdom, things of that nature)
You’re curled up on the couch when Max notices something’s off.
Not immediately — at first, he just notices the way you’re quieter than usual, you haven’t teased him, your knees are tucked tight to your chest, a soft blanket draped over you like you’re trying to make yourself smaller. He glances over to you from his phone, back to his phone, then back again, brows furrowed.
“Hey,” he says gently. “You okay?”
You hum, shifting in your place a little. The movement makes your breath hitch despite yourself. And that’s what gives you away.
Max sits up, his now phone forgotten. “Hey, no, hey,” he murmurs, scooting closer. “What’s wrong?”
You hesitate a little from embarrassment, you aren’t too familiar with talking to him about this. Your eyes squeeze shut for a moment, your palm instinctively moving to hold your abdomen.
“I’m just… in pain,” you admit quietly. “Cramps. They’re a little worse today.”
His expression softens immediately.
“Oh,” he breathes, like it physically hurts him to hear. “Baby…”
He doesn’t touch you right away — just looks, like he’s checking in, making sure he’s allowed. He reaches out, resting a warm hand over yours.
“Okay,” he says softly. “We can fix that. Well—not fix, but… help. At least a little.”
You let out a shaky laugh. “You sound very confident for someone who doesn’t get these.”
“True,” he admits, lips twitching. “But I am very good at taking care of you.”
He’s up in seconds after that — grabbing water, asking if you want a heating pad, a blanket, a snack, something salty, something sweet. He talks the whole time, calm and grounding, like he’s anchoring you to the room.
When he comes back, he settles beside you again, guiding you gently until you’re more comfortable, arm around your shoulders.
“Does this help at all?” he asks quietly.
“Yeah,” you whisper. “A little.”
He exhales in relief. His thumb rubs slow, absentminded circles against your shoulder.
“There might be something else,” he says after a moment, voice hesitant now. “Only if you’re okay with it. And you can say no — seriously. I won’t be upset.”
You look up at him, searching his face. He looks nervous, but sincere and gentle.
“What is it?”
He swallows. “I just… I know something that might help a little more. But only if you trust me.”
You hold his gaze for a second longer — then nod.
“I trust you.”
-a little later-
He’d already thought ahead — a towel laid neatly on the bed; pillows arranged with care. It made your chest ache, how seriously he was taking this.
“Lay down right here,” he said softly, helping you settle. “I’ve got you. Just breathe.”
He slips off your shorts along with your panties and tosses them to the floor beside the bed, but he keeps your shirt on so as you don’t feel too exposed. As he reaches down to unbuckle his pants, he hears you exhale in discomfort.
“I know baby, it hurts. You’ll feel better soon…” he says softly, pulling his sweatpants down slowly until he exposes himself. He bends down to open your legs and give your bloated lower abdomen a small kiss before continuing.
He towers over you before settling, his chest on yours, only using half his weight. He comfortably positions his face into the crook of your neck, kissing it with his warm lips, while his hands made their way to rest on your pretty love handles. Max is shy, but he knows it’s going to help.
“Okay,” he breathes out quietly, brushing your sides with his thumbs. “You ready? … I’ll be gentle.” You nod, giving him a small, reassuring smile, then feeling a peck on your cheek.
Max reaches down to align himself with you, his hand coming back up to meet your hip again. He’s slowly pushing his tip in, waiting for your approval. Your mouth falls open, taking a deep breath from how big it is. But he’s so careful, like you’re made of glass, so he doesn’t go any further until you say so. He looks at you, waiting, hoping.
“You can go further, sweet boy.” You say against his jaw.
He does so, ever so slowly, filling you up as you feel the previous pressure from the pain decrease. You exhale in relief as you feel him smiling into your hair. He slips himself out, before going back in, hearing him hold back his whines.
He keeps going, with each moan that slips from your mouth, the pain fading further into the background. He loves hearing you — the soft sounds, the shaky breaths of relief — but it’s getting harder and harder for him to stay quiet. You notice the way his breathing stutters. You slip your hand under his shirt, your fingertips dragging slowly up his back.
He immediately whimpers against your ear, he slows down, his eyes glossy. He stops himself, moving his forehead to meet yours.
“I–I’m sorry,” he murmurs, his voice small, those sad, wet puppy eyes breaking your heart a little.
You lean up and kiss him, lingering long enough for him to melt into your lips. You pull back, “Hey,” you whisper, your thumbs brushing his bottom lip.
“You don’t have to be quiet; you can make sounds too...” you say as you hear his breath tremble.
“It’s okay,” you add softly. “I like hearing you...”
He nods slowly, still looking at you with those soft, yearning eyes that always undo you.
Then he leans down to kiss you again — deeper this time, less careful, a quiet ‘thank you.’ He slowly fills you again, his breath stutters against your lips, moaning into your mouth. This time he’s deeper, he’s all the way in. He goes slow, like before, like he’s gonna hurt you, feeling so full and then empty again.
He pulls out completely, now rubbing himself against your clit, teasing you; a small groan escaping from his lips.
“Max — please,” you plead into his shoulder.
He raises his head and his eyes meet yours, before you can process anything he slams his cock into you, holding your face and caressing it as he begins to fuck you again, stretching you out, the sound of skin slapping is the only thing you can hear under his soft whimpering. He doesn’t realize what this does to you, it makes you crazy, your body filling with euphoria watching this sweet boy come undone above you. He looks down at your body, viewing the mess you “made.”
“Oh,” he breathes, almost in awe, voice thick. “Look at you… so pretty.”
There’s nothing you could’ve done hearing him say that, other than noticing the ball of pressure building up where your pain used to be, only it’s a good thing. He grabs one of your legs and tosses it over his shoulder, it’s sloppy, the way he’s thrusting, breathing heavily and biting the inside of your thigh here and there.
You can tell he’s close, feeling the heat radiating from his body, adjusting himself to where he was the first time. His eyebrows are furrowing, his voice cracks, “I-I’m,” he manages to get out. His chest is touching yours again, tiny strands of hair sticking to his face. He looks at you with pleading eyes, trying to tell you how badly he wants to cum inside you. You nod, feeling your own coming to its peak.
His head falls to the crook of your neck again, not wanting to be seen when he lets himself go, you’ve never heard him whine like this before, moaning like a pathetic piece of shit into your neck as he slams into you, feeling his cock twitch as his hot sticky cum fills you completely. Noticing that you haven’t finished yet, he keeps going, his cum dripping out of you, getting in between your skin, making webs as he continues to fuck you, it’s overstimulating him, making him whine like a bitch.
It’s all becoming too much, the pit in your abdomen growing as he’s making himself suffer. Your body spazzes, you cover your own mouth as you practically scream into it, tears forming from your eyes, feeling Max’s hand rub your waist with his hand as if he’s comforting you. He brings his forehead to meet with yours and sloppily kisses you, pulling back trying to catch his breath.
“You were right,” you say, your breath catching, “That helped a lot — it doesn’t hurt at all anymore... Thank y —“
He cuts you off, shushing you and shaking his head, giving you a little smile before kissing your cheek.
“Now, let’s get you all cleaned up, sweetheart.”

silly lil oneshot requested by: anonymous
You most certainly did NOT recognize Ethan when he stepped out of the bathroom. He had been in there for a solid 10 minutes leaving you waiting by the front door.
The blue and white costume stuck just enough to be undoubtedly toy chica — shiny fabric, a bright yellow plastic grin tied to the top of his head instead of covering his face. He struck a dramatic pose in the hallway, leaning on the doorframe, one hip popped, arms stretched out.
"Well?" he asked, "Be honest."
You stared for a second too long, "I hate how well this suits you."
He laughed, "Right? I knew I should've committed."
You adjusted your own costume — toy bonnie — the jacket was stiff but oddly comfortable, the cheaply made ears slightly crooked no matter how many times you fixed them. "You're enjoying this way too much."
"That's the point of Halloween," he said, stepping closer. "Looking ridiculous with confidence."
The party was already loud by the time you arrived - neon lights, bass thumping through the floor, people packed shoulder to shoulder. A few heads turned immediately.
"Oh my god, toy bonnie and toy chica!!" someone yelled.
Ethan beamed, grabbing your wrist before you could retreat. "C'mon. we're committing."
You let him pull you in, his grip warm and familiar. Every so often, he'd lean close to say something — a joke about the music, a comment about someone else's costume — his voice just loud enough to for you to hear. You caught yourself smiling without meaning to.
At one point, someone asked for a photo.
Ethan slung his arm around you without thinking, pulling you in close; his side pressed against yours, his costume cool and smooth under your hand. When the camera flashed, he leaned in and whispered, "See? Perfect duo."
Later, you escaped to the balcony for air. The night was cool, city lights blinking below, you rested your elbows on the railing, breathing out. Ethan followed a second later, bumping your shoulder lightly with his own. "You holding up, bonnie?"
"Barely," you said. "You've been stealing the spotlight."
He grinned, "You didn't seem to mind."
You glanced at him, he was already looking at you — not teasing this time, just soft and curious.
"Hey," he said, quieter. "You look really good tonight."
Your heart skipped a little, "You're biased."
"Maybe," he admitted. "But I'm usually right."
A beat passed. The music from inside faded into background noise. He reached out, fingers brushing your sleeve — hesitant, checking. When you didn't pull away, his hand stayed.
"You wanna head back in?" he asked. "Or... we could stay out here a bit?"
You smiled softly at him. "I like it here."
His answering smile was small, genuine. "Me too."
He stayed close after that — not touching constantly, just enough that you felt his presence beside you. When you finally went back inside, he kept pace with you, shoulder brushing yours like it belonged there.
Stupid animatronic costumes and neon lights, but something warm and real beneath all of it was far from it.

You never meant to make it a habit— talking to Jacob late at night about the most random things.
It started simple. You'd ask about a game he'd mentioned on stream once, or a video he was editing. Then it turned into full on conversations that stretched past midnight, bouncing between topics— movies, sound design, tiny niche facts about random tech stuff you only half understood but loved hearing him explain. One of the nights it was your turn to yap ended in Jacob accidentally falling asleep, but once he realized the next morning he felt SO bad, he just couldn't help it.
You liked the way he spoke when he got excited. How his voice got light, faster. His hands moved when he explained something, like the air itself needed to understand too.
And he liked the way you listened. You didn't just nod along— you asked questions, the kind that made him stop and think, then smile before answering.
So, the calls kept happening. Quiet, unplanned and easy.
Tonight was one of those nights. The sky outside was already deep blue, your room lit only by the soft glow of your monitor. Jacob was on video call, promising not to fall asleep this time, hence why he was at his desk and not his bed. His hoodie draped over his messy hair in a way that looked deliberate and accidental.
"Okay," he said, leaning forward, "hear me out— 'Portal 2' is still one of the best written games ever made on planet earth, I will die on this hill."
You laughed. "Oh, I'm not arguing that. I just think you've played it, like, fifty times."
"Fifty-two," he said proudly.
"Right. Because the difference between a fan and an obsessed man is two extra playthroughs."
He smiled, shaking his head. "Hey— You make it sound like a bad thing."
"It's not!" you said. And it wasn't. You liked seeing him so passionate. The way his eyes lit up, how his voice hilled the space without ever feeling loud. There was a beat of silence after that— extremely comfy but had weight in its own way.
Jacob glanced down at his keyboard, then back at the camera. "You always let me ramble about dumb stuff," he said quietly.
You tilted your head. "What? It's not dumb."
"It kind of is," he chuckled, but his tone didn't match the words. "I just— most people tune out after a few minutes. You don't."
"Why would I?" you asked. "You talk about things you love. That's... kinda my favorite thing about you."
He froze, not visibly, but enough that the air between you shifted. You blinked, realizing what you'd said. "Sorry, I didn't mean— "
"No," he cut in quickly. "Don't apologize."
You watched him, unsure of what to do next. His expression was much softer now, almost shy.
"Can I tell you something?" he asked, his voice a little timid.
"Yeah," you said as your heartbeat started to slowly pick up.
He exhaled slowly, eyes flickering away from the camera for a second. "I didn't really get why people like talking to each other so much," he said. "Like small talk, hanging out— it always felt... draining. But you don't."
You frowned slightly. "Don't what?"
He looked at you again. "You don't drain me."
It landed deeper than you expected. You smiled a little, unsure what else to do. "That's a good thing, right?"
He laughed under his breath. "Yeah. It's a good thing."
The silence that followed wasn't awkward— it was full. The kind where sudden words would've only ruined it. You watched him adjust his mic, eyes focused on the screen, but you could see his cheeks turning a bit pink.
"Jacob," you said softly.
He hummed in response, not looking up, his gaze fixed on his second monitor.
"You ever think maybe the reason you like talking to me is because you actually like me?"
That got his attention. His eyes flicked to yours on the screen, wide and unsure. "That's a big assumption."
Your mouth cracked a small smile, "You didn't deny it."
He tried to glare, but it didn't stick. "You're way too confident for someone who just dropped that out of nowhere."
"Maybe," you said "Or maybe I just noticed the way you look at me when you think I'm not paying attention."
That shut him up for a second. His cheeks flushed deeper, and he rubbed the back of his neck, smiling nervously.
"You're impossible," he muttered, but there was no bite to it.
"Is that a no?" you teased.
He sighed, leaning a bit closer to the camera now, eyes darting across your face like he was trying to decide something. Then, quietly: "It's not a no."
You felt your stomach flip. "So, it's a, yes?"
He laughed, finally— soft, a little breathless, "God you really don't let up, do you?"
"Not when I'm right," you said, smiling.
He shook his head, hiding his face for a second. When he looked back up, his voice was quieter. "Yeah," he said. "It's a yes."
They way he said it wasn't super grand or dramatic, just honest. You leaned back in your chair, trying to play it cool even as your chest felt like it might burst. "So, what now?"
Jacob shrugged, a tiny smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. "Now I keep talking to you. Maybe a little more often."
"You already talk to me every night," you said, laughing.
"Then maybe," he said, very obviously staring at you through the screen, "I'll start calling it something else."
Your voice came out softer than you intended. "Like what?"
He hesitated just long enough to make your pulse skip, then: "Like... a date."
You didn't even try to hide your grin. "Guess that means I'll have to listen even harder."
"And I'll have to stay awake longer." He added, making fun of himself.
For a moment, you both just sat there - smiling at each other through the screens, the hum of the call filling spaces words couldn't. It wasn't a confession screamed into the void or a grand romantic gesture. It was smaller than that— gentler. The kind that happens when two people have already been falling for a while and finally realize it.

cw: smoking, getting high
You didn't mean for him to find out.
The whole point was to relax, alone— no pressure, no audience, no worrying about saying or doing something dumb. Just you, a quiet night, and a soft haze to take the edge off.
But then the door creaked open, and Ethan leaned against the frame like he'd been standing there for a while.
"Dude you good?" he asked in a low voice.
You froze halfway through lighting up, the tiny flame flickering in your shaking hand. "Oh— uh. Yeah. Yeah, just— "
He raised an eyebrow, that small, knowing smile tugging at his mouth. "Just?"
You sighed, setting the lighter down and putting the joint behind your ear. "Just unwinding. It's been a long week."
He stepped inside, the faint scent of his cologne trailing with him. "You could've told me," he said, not judgmental, just his caring self. "I would've kept an eye on you."
"I don't need a babysitter," you muttered, but your voice came out a little softer than you meant to. Now pulling the joint back out from behind your ear to light it. He chuckled, sitting cross-legged on the floor next to you anyway.
"Trip sitter," he corrected. "Totally different thing."
You rolled your eyes but couldn't stop a small grin from forming. "You're not actually staying, are you?"
Ethan shrugged, leaning back on his hands. "Well, I wasn't planning to, but now I'm curious. Besides, someone's gotta make sure you don't start talking to the walls."
You laughed— half from nerves, half because his voice had that steady calm that always made you feel safer than you wanted to admit.
So, he stayed.
He didn't say much while you smoked, just sat nearby, scrolling on his phone, humming to himself occasionally. Eventually, the room softened around the edges. Your limbs felt heavy and warm, your thoughts slow but pleasant. The music playing in the background sounded deeper somehow, like every note was wrapping around you. You glanced over at Ethan. He was looking at you now, his phone forgotten in his lap.
"How do you feel?" he asked quietly.
You blinked, "Floaty." You paused. "In a good way." He smiled, eyes gentle, "Good."
The affirmation hit you harder than you expected. It was probably the high, or maybe it was him. The way his voice seemed to anchor you. You lay back against the couch, closing your eyes and feeling the carpet under you. Feeling the world tilt, but in a soft, calm way. When you opened them again, he was closer. Not too close, but enough that you could see the freckles across his face in the low light.
"You're staring." he said, teasing, but his tone was warm.
You blinked again, and a laugh slipped out. "You're really pretty, you know that?"
He froze for a half second— then grinned, shaking his head. "Oh boy, there it is."
"What?" you asked, your words slower now, lazy.
"The 'you're really pretty' phase," he said, "Everyone hits it eventually."
You frowned, even though you were smiling. "No, I mean it. You're... you're actually kind of stupidly good-looking. In a nice way."
He laughed, soft but genuine, rubbing the back of his neck. "You're high as hell dude."
"Maybe," you admitted. "But it's true."
He gave you a look— feeling amusement and— something else at the same time. "You always this honest when you're high?"
You hesitated, heartbeat slowing and speeding up all at once. "Maybe not this honest."
He leaned back again, expression unreadable but not unkind. "Alright tell me something true, then."
You swallowed. The room suddenly felt too small, noticing the uncomfortable feeling of how dry your mouth was, "You sure?"
"Yeah."
You fiddled with the hem of your jacket's sleeve, trying to steady your breathing. Telling yourself to just fuck it. "Okay. Something true... hmm," You looked at him again. "I like you."
He blinked. "Like, like me?"
"Like like," you repeated, laughing at how dumb it sounded. "God that's so elementary school, I didn't mean to say that."
He was quiet for a long second - long enough that you started to regret even opening your mouth. Ethan tilted his head, "You didn't mean to say it, or you didn't mean it?"
You mouth opened, then closed again. "I — both? I mean, no. I meant it, I just..." You groaned, burying your face into your palms. "This is so embarrassing."
You felt his hand on your shoulder - steady and grounding. "Hey," he said gently. "Breathe."
You looked up, HIs expression wasn't teasing anymore. It was careful. Thoughtful. "You didn't mess anything up," he said, "You just said something honest, it happens to everyone eventually."
You tried to laugh, but it came out small. "You're taking this really well."
He smiled. "That's cause I've kind of been waiting for you to say it."
Your eyes widened slightly, sitting up straighter than before. "Wait— what?"
He shrugged, casual but not careless. "You think I hang around watching you zone out because I'm bored?"
You gaped at him and he laughed, his hand still resting on your shoulder. "Relax - you're okay."
"So— you like me, too?" You asked, voice slightly above a whisper, half confused.
"I do." he said proudly.
The words hung there between you, gentle and solid, not forced or rushed, only true. You let out a shaky breath, "I'm glad you stayed, then."
"I told you, someone's gotta watch out for you."
You leaned your head back against the couch, smiling into the quiet. He didn't move away— just sat there, his shoulder brushing against yours, the warmth of him sobering you up more than anything else could.
"Hey," you murmured after a while. "Can I tell you one more true thing?"
He turned to look at you. "Yeah?"
"You're even prettier up close," you said, giving him a soft smile. He rolled his eyes, laughing under his breath. "God, you're going to be insufferable when you sober up."
But he didn't move when you leaned a little closer.
He didn't have to.

cw: slight mentions of self-doubt
The apartment was quiet except for the faint hum of Max's computer fans and the clicking of his keyboard; you could always tell how his day was going by the sound of it—steady clicks meant he was focused, heavier ones meant he was stressed. Tonight, they sounded tired.
You leaned against the doorway, watching him from the kitchen. His hair was slightly messy, accompanied by the sleeves of his hoodie pushed up to his elbows. The glow from his monitor painted his face in soft blues, and you wondered if he knew how good he looked in that light.
You shouldn't have been watching him like this. You knew that. Roommates don't stare at each other like they’re memorizing them.
Max sighed, rubbing a hand over his face before pulling his headphones off, "You still awake?" he mumbled, voice rough from hours of talking.
You blinked, trying to be casual. "Couldn't sleep. You've been at that for a while."
"Yeah." His stretched, cracking his neck. "Editing's kicking my ass tonight."
You gave him a small and careful smile, "You always say that, and then the video ends up great anyway."
He gave a half-laugh, half-grunt in response. You turned back to the kitchen, pretending to fuss with the kettle even though you hadn't planned on making tea until now. It's easier to keep your hands busy than to think about how the apartment felt different when he was quiet like this.
You took two mugs from the shelf—one with a chipped corner that he always used, one plain, and poured the hot water over a couple of tea bags. When you handed him his, your fingers brushed his for a second too long. He didn't pull away.
"Thanks," he said.
You sat on the edge of the living room couch, trying not to seem like you were waiting for something. He joined you a moment later, setting the mug down on the coffee table. The steam rose between you, catching the light.
He leaned back, eyes half-closed, head resting against the couch. "You ever feel like you're running out of things to say, I know I do."
You tilted your head. "You? No way."
He smiled weakly. "Yeah, maybe not on camera." His eyes flickered toward you, slow. "Off, it's... different."
Something about his tone made your chest ache. You wanted to tell him you understood. That you'd seen the cracks in the armor he wore online, the quiet after the laughter. But you just hummed, sipping your tea. You hated thinking so specifically about him, knowing you shouldn't ever let him know, fearing he might get the wrong idea. But the worst part is, it was the right idea. Only because you suspected he had zero interest in guys. Longing for him was so much better than losing him.
Minutes passed like that—silence, but not uncomfortable. Just there. The kind of quiet that stretches - that fills the room without needing to be broken.
You thought he had fallen asleep when you heard it—barely above a whisper.
"You look tired," he said.
You looked up, his eyes were on you now, steady and unreadable.
"C'mere," he added, voice low. "I'll be gentle."
It took you a second to process what he'd said. You hesitated at first, heart jumping against your ribs. He patted the couch beside him, gaze still gentle but certain. So, you moved closer, trying not to think too hard about what this was.
When you sat down, he shifted, tugging the blanket off the back of the couch and draping it over both of you. You could feel the warmth of him instantly, smelling the faint scent of his shampoo, something like cedar and coconut.
You expected him to say something— to make a joke, or downplay it—but he didn't. Instead, he leaned sideways until his head found your shoulder. The weight of it was grounding, heavy in the way that made your breath catch.
You didn't move. Couldn't.
His voice came again, muffled by the fabric of your hoodie. "You think I don't notice, don't you?"
Your heart stuttered, "Notice what?"
He let out a quiet laugh, almost embarrassed. "You. Watching me. Worrying about me. Trying not to be obvious about it."
Your own pulse thundered in your ears. "I— "
He cut you off softly. "It's okay. I like it."
You blinked, turning your head just enough to see him looking up at you, eyes tired but soft in the low light. His hand, resting on the couch between you, brushed against yours, once, then again— slowly, deliberately.
For a second, neither of you said anything. The quiet filled everything. Then, gently, Max shifted closer, his hand finding yours fully this time, his pinky now gently clinging to yours.
"Didn't know how to say something before," he murmured. "Didn't wanna mess it up."
You swallowed hard, the air feeling too warm all of a sudden. "And now?"
He smiled - a small, real smile. "Now I'm tired of pretending I don't want to."
His words hit something deep in your chest. Before you could respond, you noticed the heat of his breath on your neck, barely there. A question more than a statement.
You turned your head slightly, and that was all it took for him to kiss you. It was gentle, soft, like everything else between you had been building toward this without either of you realizing it.
When he finally pulled back, he stayed close enough that his breath touched your skin. You smiled faintly, voice barely above a whisper. "Still wanna be quiet?"
His lips curved, eyes still soft in the dim light. "Only if quiet means staying like this." he said, smiling into your shoulder.
You let your head rest against his, the world shrinking into the sounds of his breathing and the soft hum of the computer in the next room. The silence wasn't empty anymore. It was full— of warmth, and relief, and the kind of peace you didn't need to put words to.

cw; contains mentions of death & murder
You hear a sound in the middle of the night, not loud—just wrong. The clock reads 2:23 a.m. You groan and pull the blanket up, then hear it again: a scraping, coming from outside the window.
"What the hell?" you said to yourself, hoping it was probably just Max or Ethan making a big mess. The sound was a strange scraping coming from outside your window. And considering you live in a pretty quiet neighborhood, this can't be good. The house was so silent the scraping (or whatever it was) sounds were crystal clear.
Half asleep, sitting up from your bed, you grab your phone light and make your way toward the boys' rooms, maybe they heard it too? But once you reached Max's room, he wasn't there. Then Ethan's room, empty. The semi-awake confusion made everything so much worse as you made your way towards the sliding back door, cautiously sliding it open. Letting in the crisp air as it hits your face.
The moonlight ignites two masked individuals, a little way away. Slight panic courses through your body knowing Max and Ethan aren't there to help you figure out who these people are. They don't notice you, trying to rub out the fog from your eyes to see what they were doing, only to see them carrying a fucking body.
fuck fuck fuck fuck! get inside get inside get inside move it goddammit!
You don't know what to do, but as soon as you realize what's going on, you see them both turn their heads in your direction, revealing a crooked mask that resembled a ghost. Oh, the dread... the dread that infected your veins... they drop the body, and suddenly you could move again. And the scream that forced it way out of your lungs was petrifying.
You run slam and lock the door You see them running towards you You gag out of fear as your heart beats in your throat- hearing the back door slide open. they're inside. they grab you, and you scream again, crying, fighting it.
"No, no, no, no..." you choke out, sobbing as you continue to struggle in their grip. There's an arm around your waist, and a hand on your wrists.
The taller one grabs your face, pushing your cheeks in with a single hand, forcing you to make eye contact with them through the mask.
"Stop. Fucking. Moving." he growls, frustrated, but his voice sounds so familiar, something you can't put your finger on because the fog in your brain won't let you. They sit you on a chair next to the washer, cornering you. As soon as those words came out of his mouth, something in you kept you still, instinctively telling you're not in danger, but why?
"Now be a sweet little thing and sit." the other coos as he ties your hands behind the back of the chair. So, both of them are male. Great.
But you still silently cry, tears falling down your cheeks, you have no urge to scream.
"The other two guys here, did you kill them too?" you ask softly, pleading with tears still in your eyes.
"Oh sweetheart-" The tall one bends over like he's talking to a dog. "They're just fine." he says before reaching for his mask and pulling it off. And suddenly, their voices make sense.
You choke, "W-what?"
A morbid smirk appears on Max's face as he looks down at you, hair messy, eyes darker than usual- pleading almost. As if he was claiming you as his, for some- reason... A defeated exhale comes from Max, looking at now maskless Ethan a couple feet away from him. The rise and fall of your lungs are too rapid, feeling like you're about to slump over, hoping to wake up from this awful dream. Why were they carrying a body and why did they chase you down? Max slips the glove off his hand with his teeth and gently holds your chin up to look at him.
"You weren't supposed to see that, we're sorry." he says, brushing his thumb just beside your lips. Face guilty.
"I thought I didn't know you guys that well, now I really don't know you guys at all... Jesus who are you? Murders for roommates?!"
"Woah, hold on there, sounds a little rough when you say it like that." Ethan says, a quiet, breathy chuckle coming from his pretty lips.
Max butts in, "We're not all bad. See, we only kill bad people. That guy you saw. He hurts his kids. And that's all I'll say."
"And I'm supposed to believe that?! How do I know you're not going to kill me next?" you spit, angry, confused, betrayed. Their facial expressions change, more serious, guilty, sad, as if I would so dare to accuse them of that.
Max sighs, "Well see, you haven't done anything unforgivable. Besides, you're too pretty to see you lifeless on the floor." He smiles, brushing a finger against your salty cheeks.
"You fuckers are crazy."
"Maybe. But for the right reasons, we don't hurt innocent people. God as our witness." Ethan says stepping closer to you, brushing a strand out hair out of your eyes.
Their voices soften, the edges of the night blur. You realize you’ve stopped crying. The room smells like dirt and rain, but their warmth presses close, steady and human. It shouldn’t feel safe—but it does.
"Why me?"
"Because we like you, you're sweet, sweet enough to make us kill anyone who tries to hurt you." he says, your hair in between his fingers. Suddenly feeling fluttering in your stomach from the pair of his actions.
You start to feel relieved, knowing you should be expecting to get stabbed any second, but their demeanor was soft. Gentle. Forgiving. They didn't show any signs of planned violence despite both of them towering over you. As much as Max's eyes were dark, they were beautiful. Coffee colored. Ethan's light eyes, soft but determined. They both were so handsome, like really handsome. You didn't like the fact that you started to let your guard down, taking a mental liking to them, remembering the body that hit the grass just earlier. But there's a fucked up pull towards them, a safety. And you want it. You like the danger in this.
"But-" Max adds, "you have to promise you won't tell anyone about us. hm?"
"Only if you stop killing people from this moment forward."
Max turns to look at Ethan, looking for a reaction, he shakes his head.
"We'll make you a deal. We'll stop killing, but an exception is made if someone hurts you. How about it?"
"Fine." you sigh, giving into it, just wanting to lay down and sleep. The silence is loud, you look at Max while Ethan untied you, feeling safe knowing they're just normal guys, wanting to protect you. They like you.
And maybe you like them.
They take you into the living room and sit you down so they could go bury the body.
By the time they came back, the house had returned to its quiet heartbeat—the hum of the refrigerator, the creak of the floor. They looked ordinary again, flannel and cotton instead of masks and gloves. Max sat first; Ethan followed. You leaned into Max’s shoulder, then felt Ethan’s arm rest behind you. The three of you breathed together until the night felt small again.
Finally settling down, Max caresses your cheek, planting a gentle kiss on your forehead.
"To kill for you, I would."

"Yo, Rogurt said you guys are stuck? Ugh, these damn doors- hold on, i'll grab something to-" The door finally gives way with a jolt, light spilling in as Ethan yanks it open.
You stumble forward, eyes squinting against the sudden light. Max's hand shoots out instinctively to steady you, fingers gripping your arm before he realizes what he's doing.
"Finally," Ethan says "You good Max? You're a little pale, what'd you two even do in there?"
"Nothing," Max blurts, a little too fast. Too defensive. He clears his throat, stepping back and running a hand through his hair like that can shake off what happened. "Just got stuck, that's it."
You mumble something that you intended to sound casual, but your voice doesn't cooperate. You can feel the heat still clinging to your skin where his hand touched you.
Ethan shrugs and walks off, muttering something about bad hinges. It's just you and Max in the doorway, free technically, but neither of you move.
"You okay?" he asks finally, quieter now, the edge in his voice now replaced with something much softer.
"Yeah," you say, though, it sounded more like a question.
Your eyes meet for half a second too long, he looks away first.
"Cool," he says under his breath, shoving his hands into his pockets, "Good."
And then he's gone, walking off like he needed space from being suffocated by you, leaving you standing there with your heart racing.
For the rest of the night, he didn’t speak to you, he couldn’t even look at you. And for some reason it makes you feel sick, half convinced he lied about all of what he said, just fucking with you.
After dinner, the boys left a mess in the kitchen which left you to clean up after them. Max walks into the kitchen and begins to clean as well. It's just you two, and it makes you mad, now all of a sudden, he wants to be near you, acting like nothing happened.
The silence between you felt like it had teeth. You could feel his mood simmering, short, chipped movements, the kind that say I'm fine, even though he clearly isn't.
After a minute or two, finally, you break first. "Are you gonna keep ignoring me, or-?"
"I'm not ignoring you." His tone flat and quick.
"Could've fooled me."
He slams a drawer shut a little too hard. "What do you want me to say?"
"That you're not acting like a total jerk, maybe??"
That gets him. He turns towards you, his jaw tight. "I'm acting like a jerk? You're the one who-" He stops himself, runs his hand through his hair, "Forget it."
You step closer. "No, go ahead. Finish that sentence."
He exhales sharply. "You're the one who keeps pretending nothing happened."
You blink. "Nothing did happen."
"Yeah?" he shoots back, voice slowly rising. "Then why can't you even look at me right now?"
You freeze, and so does he, realizing what he just said. The air between you two feels like it could snap in half.
He looks away, much quieter now. "See? That's what I mean."
You swallow hard. "You think you're the only one who's felt weird about it?"
He scoffs, "So what, we're both losing it over nothing?"
"Maybe it's not for nothing."
That shuts him up, for a long second. And neither of you breathe.
When he finally speak, his voice is rougher, smaller. "You shouldn't say things like that if you don't mean them."
"Who said I don't?"
He lets out a small, humorless laugh. "You have no idea what you're getting into."
He's still right there, close enough that you can feel his breath shift the air between you. But this time he didn't need a small closet to do it, he chose to. The silence stretches until it hurts.
You whisper, "Say it, Max."
He doesn't blink. "You already know."
"Then why won't you admit it?"
His jaw tightens. "Because once I do, I can't take it back."
You take half a step forward, it's reckless, instinctive. "Maybe I don't want you to."
That lands like a spark in a dry forest. He exhales slowly through his nose, eyes flickering down, then up again- like he's fighting every muscle in his body to stay still. He's significantly taller than you, it almost makes him look scary in this moment.
"Stop looking at me like that," he says.
"Like what?"
"Like you're waiting for me to screw up."
You shake your head. "No. I'm waiting for you to stop pretending you don't want to."
You could see him freeze in his thoughts, knowing it spread like electricity. He moves just enough that the edge of his shoulder grazes yours, deliberate, careful, testing the waters. Every single breath feels louder than it should. He steps back, looking like a troubled puppy.
You take that step forward, "If you won't say it, I w--"
"Shut up."
He breaks, immediately grabbing your face and kissing you. He wasn't gentle, he wasn't careful. There was no time for that. He had been waiting so long it was painful. He was starving.
You kiss him having no choice but to melt in his hands. Doing so as his other hand flies to wrap around your waist.
He pulls away and takes a step back, eyes full of shame, slightly shaking his head. "I'm sorry- I--"
You grab his collar and pull him down to kiss him. His eyebrows furrow as a quiet whimper escapes his throat, grabbing the counter beside him to keep his balance. He pulls away softly and stares at you with the most yearning eyes you've ever seen.
"See? That wasn't nothing." he says softly, still drunk from that kiss.

lightly proofread...
After being invited to a small get together by Ethan, your best friend, he tells you who's going to be there. Whitt, Jacob, Eddie, Rogurt, and Max. You know all of them pretty decently. Young adults, loud gamers, and a bunch of screaming fucking children playing Mario kart world. That's pretty much it though, nothing personal, just friendly acquaintances. Although Ethan's best friend Max, is someone you strangely have feelings for despite not being close to him at all. You feel this very strange pull and alluringness in his energy and it's blinding. It confuses you and makes your brain hurt if you think about it too much. At this point it's being shoven onto the backburner as something mildly nerve wracking. Nobody knows this but you.
Setting your cracked phone down on the bed after talking to Ethan, you sigh and cover your eyes with the back of your hand, lightly rubbing the tiredness out of your eyes. There's a slight dread feeling knowing you're probably just going to be bored the whole time but wanting to go anyway since you don't get to see Ethan that much. The boys are obsessed with each other, and you often become a floater at functions like these; there's nothing better to do though.
Your phone dings and lights up a notification from Jacob, one of Ethan's really good friends. You opened it to him asking "Hey, Ethan mentioned having you over to hangout, you coming?" You reply with, "Yeah, I am, was it just a guy's night or something?" He starts typing as soon as you sent the reply, responding with "Oh no, not a guy's night, I was just wondering if you were coming, asking for a friend." Shutting off your phone you stare at the wall utterly confused. This is such a weird situation, those boys hardly ever talk to you let alone text, but alas, it's being shoved onto the backburner.
You lay down for a nap until it's time to leave for Ethan's Airbnb. It's close enough to walk so being late wouldn't be an issue. Rubbing your face awake, you throw on whatever clothes you have lying around, getting whatever the hell you need to survive the night with screaming 20-year-old guys. It took you so long to wake up that you completely forgot Max is gonna be there, and immediately the anxiety kicks in halfway on the road to Ethan's. Trailing the sidewalk, avoiding stepping on the cracks, it continues to confuse the hell out of you why this is bothering you so much. He isn't a bad guy, he's very sweet actually, so why are you nervous? Maybe it's from the moments where he towered over you, glancing down at you with his dark eyes. It was intimidating, but that pit in your stomach was also a hope something like that would happen again. He's hypnotizing. And you can't help it. But the fear of scaring him off with your social clumsiness hits you like a train.
You take a deep breath walking up to Ethan's door, knocking on it confidently. It opens almost immediately to Whitt opening the door, he gives you a friendly smile and gestures you to come in. Setting your bag down onto the counter you hear Ethan and Jacob screaming at each other playing Mario party upstairs, along with Eddie's insane laugh. Whitt runs back upstairs to meet back up with the boys. You soon follow, wanting to sneak up on Ethan and scare him. You inch closer to the cracked door and peak through, trying to see where Ethan could be. But you find Max instead, manspreading on Ethan's bed watching everyone else play. He doesn't see you but seeing him first from the door startled you. He's effortlessly gorgeous.
You eventually spot Ethan with his back turned to the door, you open it slowly and everyone but Ethan notices, holding your finger up to your mouth to silently shush them. You lean beside Ethan's ear, "Howdy."
"JESUS CHRIST-" He jumps, almost dropping the controller.
"GODDAMIT Y/N." He curses as you clutch your stomach laughing with your mouth covered, getting everyone else to laugh along as well. Even Max.
You sit down next to Ethan smirking at him. "Hello to you too asshole." He says jokingly. You smile, but feeling Max's presence makes the air heavy and suffocating and you can't help but fake it. Max hasn't moved from his spot on Ethan's bed as he continues to watch Rogurt and Whitt play.
"Guys I am so bored can we play something else?" Eddie says while sighing. Everyone shoots to look at him before agreeing and wanting to do something else. "Like what, hide and seek tag? What are we, children?" Ethan says, mocking him playfully. "Yeah actually."
Ethan thinks about it for a brief second before agreeing and getting the other guys to say yes too. "Y/n, you playing?" Ethan asks you,
"What? You want me to play?" You say, giving him this playful passive aggressive tone.
"Yeah dude, get up." He says rolling his eyes before grabbing your hand and pulling you up from the couch as you all walk downstairs into the living room.
"Do you guys know how to play, or do you live under a rock?" Ethan says to everyone. Everyone looks at his stupid fucking face and Rogurt flips him off.
"Oh, fuck you, Rogurt, you're it. Count to 60, everyone hides, if you get caught run away and hide somewhere else, if you get tagged, you're out. Just be careful, some of the doors get jammed really easily for some reason."
Without missing a beat everyone goes to run somewhere and hide, Rogurt covers his eyes and counts to 60. You run into the hallway and hide in a closet, closing the door, and turning off the light from inside.
As Rogurt reaches 50, you watch the closet door swing open and see someone quickly run in and close the door behind them. The closet is tight, and you could feel whoever it was brush against you, breathing heavily as if he'd been running. You could tell from the tone of his breathing that it was Max. You tense up as it sends nervous chills down your spine, thank God, he can't see you right now.
"Max?"
"Yeah." He says, out of breath. "I couldn't find anywhere else to hide, sorry." He adds.
The pantry is silent except for the faint sound of his breathing, too close, too steady. You shift an inch, but his shoulder brushes you anyway.
"You're standing really close," You whisper.
"It's a closet, not a mansion," Max mutters, but his voice cracks just enough to betray him.
From the other side of the door, you hear footsteps vibrating the tile. Rogurt's voice booms down the hall, "Ready or not- here I come!"
You freeze, holding your breath. Max leans closer, his mouth just by your ears.
"Don't move." He murmurs, barely audible.
But the problem is, you fucking can't. Not when every bone in your body is screaming at how close he is; but how easy it would be to close that last bit of space. The closet feels like it's getting smaller by the second, every creak of the house outside sounds like it's right next to you, but all you can hear is Max's breathing- too fast, like he's holding something back.
You shift your weight again, your knee bumping against his, but he doesn't move away this time. The contact lingers, deliberate in its stillness.
"You're... kind of terrible at hiding," You whisper, just to say something.
You hear him huff out a breath that might've been a laugh. "Yeah, well... you make it harder."
Your stomach twists as you wonder what the fuck that's supposed to mean. He shifts again, the wood behind you creaking, and you realize he's bracing a hand against the wall- so close that if you lifted yours, your fingers would graze his knuckles.
"Are you... okay? You whisper.
There's a pause. You think he's not going to answer, and then- "Yeah," Max says. His voice is strained. "Just... close quarters."
"You're the one pressed against me."
His breath shudders. "Not like I've got options." I could practically feel his eyes rolling.
Before you could respond, from somewhere distant, Rogurt yells, "Okay, fine, you win! I'm checking outside!" The slam of a door echos, and the whole house goes quiet again.
Your name leaves his mouth like it's an accident, hushed but aching with weight. You turn your head instinctively- and realize how close he is. His breath brushes your cheek. Inches. Less than inches.
"Max..." you whisper back, but you don't even know what you're asking. Then, footsteps. Heavy, rushing back towards the closet. Rogurt again. You both freeze. His lips hover so close you can feel the ghost of them, but he pulls back just enough to leave you aching. The doorknob rattles hard.
"Got you!" Rogurt yells. But the door doesn't budge- its jammed tight.
'YOU'RE FUCKING KIDDING RIGHT.' You think to yourself.
Max let's out a low, almost desperate laugh under his breath. "Guess we're not getting out."
Rogurt groans dramatically on the other side. "Seriously? Ugh, fine, I'll get Ethan. Don't suffocate in there, losers."
His footsteps stomp away once again. At this point, most of the guys have been found, you hear their voices, all but Ethan's. You're guessing that's what Rogurt meant by "going to get him."
This repetition is killing you. The quiet stretches, it's stuffocating, you're way too aware of him now- every breath, every shift, every ounce of heat radiating from his body onto yours. After a while Max finally whispers,
"You're awfully quiet." He pokes,
"So are you," you shoot back, but your voice is softer than you mean it to be. There's a pause. Then-
"Does it make you nervous?"
You freeze, pulse stuttering. "What?"
"This. Being stuck here. With me." His words came out low, deliberate, almost like a dare.
You swallow, throat dry. "Should I?"
"You tell me." The darkness makes it worse- you can't see his expression, only feel it. The shift of his weight closer, the almost-touch of his hand brush your again, lighter this time. Teasing.
"Stop doing that," you whisper.
"Doing what?" His tone is all feigned innocence, but there's a crack of amusement in it.
"Touching me."
"I'm not," he says, though his fingers ghost against yours again, unmistakable now. "Unless... you want me to."
Your breath catches, and the silence that follows is absolutely fucking unbearable, but he leaves it like that, on purpose. You can't help but feel so nervous, nervous in a good way, part of you wants to tell him to really stop, because you're not used to this. But the feeling in your core yearns for it.
Then, softly- "You're bad at hiding things."
His words sting, but not in the way you would've expected it to. You can't tell if he's calling out your obvious nerves, or if he means something deeper, something you don't dare name. You turn your head toward him, even though you can't see.
"And what about you? You're acting like this isn't driving you insane." There's a long, waited pause, his voice quiet, frayed at the edges.
"Maybe it is." The honesty in it nearly undoes you. Your entire body hums, suspected on the edge of something dangerous.
The knob rattles faintly again in the distance- someone fiddling with it halfheartedly- but neither of you care anymore.
Because now, the game is obvious.
He's waiting to see how far you'll let this go.
And you're waiting to see if he'll finally break first.
