gorillaz's new short film is probably one of my favorite pieces of animation in a good while. its creation and design philosophy were reportedly motivated by the rise of AI, and their strive to celebrate human expression in art. as a result, computers were hardly used in the creation of the film. i believe they only used digital technology for compositing and sequencing, meaning that this is a work of painted-cel animation in big 2026, which is wild to think about

MTV's The Maxx is one of my favorite shows stylistically, with someo f the cleanest animation i've ever seen on a television production. however, it's often not the best for reference footage due to how heavily stylized it is
