congratulations i love you and its unconditional
#thank god somebody finally is catering to my needs as a consumer
Finally, a tool relevant to all my major personality traits.
Look at her opening doors to thousands of girls (if not more) around the world! 😍
I love this
i have a lesbian friend called Maggie who claims to be stupid but has given me some of the most powerful advice ive ever received, information that only a lesbian could deliver
she used to work for a gay club where her job would be to carry around a tray of shots (she’s like pretty short and had one (1) extremely buff arm because of this bc she had to hold the tray real high above her head when going thru crowds) and she found that obviously she’d get tipped better if she dressed sexy, so she’d come to work in just lingerie and bunny ears, and i was like “damn i could never” and i asked her how she had the body confidence to do it
her answer was “oh i don’t i’m just dumb” and honestly? that’s the best piece of advice i’ve ever been given, period.
she told me that a good sport/hobby for depressed lesbians to take up is martial arts, because not only does it give you a reason to get out the house and socialise more, but because it gives you a good way to get more control over your body in more ways than one
not only does it prepare you for a potential time in later your life where you might need to defend yourself against non-consensual touching (be it sexual or otherwise) but it gives you a way to platonically, professionally and most importantly consensually be touched and touched other people in a semi-public, friendly environment, and she told me it’s really important that lesbians do that because we can get so caught up in our heads about being touched & not being touched. it also works as an environment where you can always say “stop” and you know they will - because that’s the point
Maggie is wise beyond her years
i was once discussing the big spoon/little spoon with a friend and she interupted us and gave the most definitive answer i’ve ever heard; the wisest addition to Big Spoon/Little Spoon discourse anybody could have, something i still think about every day.
she said “middle spoon” and for the first time in my life it DAWNED ON ME you could do BOTH at ONCE
anyway hats off to Maggie she’s one of my favourite people in the world
My girlfriend is a “dumb” (actually very wise) lesbian named Maggie and I thought “oh wow what a funny coincidence.” But the more I read the more I realized no, the Maggie in question here is /actually/ my girlfriend (there are only so many lesbian Maggies that used to work as club bunny girls after all). Anyway yes hats off to Maggie. One time when I was mad at myself for something stupid I did she said “well if you’re upset it means that you really care about it, and isn’t it lovely that you have the capacity to care so deeply?” She is wise beyond her years.
Food is a right only if it is your private property. You have no right to food that does not belong to you; you have no right to food that you have not purchased or produced.
Yo shut up
scarcity matters when things are actually scarce, and food is abundant. economics is fake.
The Earth is the common property of all jackasses. If someone is starving they have a right to food. If they are thirsty they have a right to a drink. And if they are homeless they have a right to a roof. If society can provide these things but doesn't then that person is being robbed of whats rightfully theirs.
we produce enough food globally to feed around 10 billion people a year, there is no reason why anyone should go hungry
You know as a Jew I'm a thousand percent fed up with leftists acting like random Jews are equal to the Israeli government. Yes, even Jews living in Israel. If I walked around accusing random people of being Donald Trump ppl would think I was crazy. But a Jew exists and suddenly has to answer for Israel's crimes. Just say ur a stupid little bitch and GO
Even worse, sometimes a Jew or many will DIE and disgusting creeps decide now on a random post mourning this event, is the right time to blame Jews for everything the Israeli government has done. I can't even click on Holocaust posts without there being 27373737 fake woke comments comparing Jews to Nazis. I'm fucking. Sick of it.
“A spell at its most simple is a story. When a witch casts a spell, they are telling a story that, for example, a few herbs, a spoon of honey, a little lemon, and a cup of hot water will make your sore throat go away. When you decide to sip the tea, you are entering into that story. You are giving that story permission to change you.”
— Ada Pembroke, “Reading Tarot Like The Magician” (Aquarius Moon Journal)
There’s a French BD/comic series currently being published about her!
We need someone like her at the border.
What platforms make up Sweet Tea's presidential campaign?
1) I am not allowed to stop paying attention to her
2) all fascists get shot into space
3) mandatory brushies for cows
4) everyone just eat corn and chill
This whole obsession with wheelchair users struggling on foot down the aisle at their wedding or across the stage for graduation is 100% powered by ableism.
“The heartwarming story of how one woman worked for 8 months straight so she could escape the horror that is being in wheelchair for a few short minutes to struggle slowly and painfully down the aisle on her special day.”
“the horror that is being in a wheelchair” bitch it’s hella better than struggling slowly & painfully down the aisle ffs
“Despite being permanently paralyzed, her one goal since her accident has been to walk across the stage for graduation. The whole crowd gave her a standing ovation and broke into tears when she dragged her paralyzed legs across the stage with the help of leg braces and a walker to collect her diploma, after which she immediately sat back down in her wheelchair, which she will use to move around for the rest of her life.”
How the hell is this an inspirational story? This person needs better goals. And a therapist.
They’re toxic in an even greater way because as a disabled person, I didn’t realise till I was reading this how much I had internalised that. I genuinely have had feelings of fear and shame about using a chair or a walker if I get married. And why? Because I’m constantly seeing “heartwarming” stories about disabled people who shed their mobility aids for that moment. Why the hell am I afraid of using them to get married? Anyone who marries me or attends the wedding will know I need them and love me regardless.
Bless this post for making me realise I’d internalised that shit.
These types of stories teach people, both abled and disabled, that using mobility aids, especially wheelchairs, is inferior.
here are some beautiful brides in chairs with dresses they ROCK. I know a lot of disabled ppl with internalized ableism think they “won’t look good” if they use their chair, but here’s some literally gorgeous gals for ur consideration
(that last ones cute as fuck and i teared up at it)
Who needs a bouquet when you can be a bouquet?
I made my addition to this post in June 2019. Its now January 2020 and I no longer feel guilty about the idea of going down the aisle one day with mobility aids.
God bless the disabled community, y'all saved me from some internalised bullshit
This post floated by a few months ago, and I remember something to effect of there’s a difference between recovery and refusal. That is, like, I have a friend that suffered an incomplete spinal cord injury. He can walk again now, and I don’t think I’ve seen him use his chair in a few years. When he walked at his graduation, it was to show off his recovery. That he wasn’t quite ready to go through a full day upright, but he could walk across a stage, unassisted, and soon he would be able to do that every day. There’s also a difference in someone like me choosing to not use a mobility aid. My mobility is intensely fluid, especially seasonally. So, I would plan a summer wedding. And while I love my cane it can also be the biggest pain in my ass, so I’d want to just go unassisted. But that’s normal for me, at least right now. I can walk without an aid during about half of the year. It’s reasonable to assume I can make it through one day without it. All of that is different than someone that is fully and permanently paralyzed, that will never walk again, dragging themselves along because they feel that’s somehow better. Overall though, my biggest takeaway is fuck the media. Because disabled people should be able to make whatever decision they want without the media turning it into this grand inspirational story.
Disabled people should be able to make whatever decision they want without the media turning it into this grand inspirational story.
THIS.
Couldn’t pass up the opportunity to add my disabled joy to this post. Look at this love!
gentiles on this website: “The Old Testament God is cruel and vengeful!” actual Jews in my synagogue yesterday: “My favorite part of the reading is when it says the Torah is not in heaven so it’s too far to reach, it’s not across the sea so we can’t get it, but that it’s in our hearts… the idea of having that be so close, of being so close to something divine, that thrills me.” “And here, where it says ‘the Lord will delight in you as he did in your fathers’, that’s such a beautiful thing. You know, God is this all-powering being, and God delights in us.”
gentiles on this website: “You can’t be an atheist and religious!” actual Jews in my synagogue yesterday: “I’m just not buying any of this. I was born during the Holocaust and I could never wrap my mind around this omnipotent all-seeing God, and usually I’m a little moved by this, I try to be hopeful, but when I look around the world now, I just don’t buy it! If I really believed there was a God, I would resent him.” [still wears a prayer shawl and attends synagogue regularly]
gentiles on this website: “Religious people never question what they’re told, they just followed blindly!” my actual rabbi: “Sometimes the Torah can be like an older relative whom we love dearly, and who has a lot of wisdom to give, but who also says things that cause us pain, that we find offensive or wrong. And I think the wrong instinct would be to pretend we don’t hear what they’re saying, or to cut them out entirely, or to be guided by them into thinking and behaving in offensive ways. What we need to do is engage the Torah. We need to wrestle with it, and try to understand it, to figure out where it’s coming from and learn how we can progress from it, because the Torah is not unchanging. It belongs in each of our hearts, and it changes for us as we study it, as each generation challenges its old assumptions.”
On July 1942, 2, most of the children of Lidice, a small village in what was then Czechoslovakia, were handed over to the gestapo office of the gestapo.
These 82 children were then transported to the of extermination camp 70 kilometers away. Once they arrived, they were gassed to death. This remarkable sculpture by Marie Uchytilová commemorates this massacre.
A group of Bronze Sculptures, paying tribute to the children who died. Its construction was decided in 1969 by the woman sculptor, Marie Uchytilova. As a symbol of an imaginary tomb of the 13 million most innocent victims of the war - children, she chose as model, 82 children of lidice asphyxiated in the gas rooms of chelmno.
She took 20 years to make this beautiful sculpture because she used the vintage documents to reproduce the faces of the missing children and to represent them according to their exact size.
This was done in response to the killing of a Nazi military leader. Because they were having no luck finding the assassins, a decree went out to obliterate any villages thought to have harbored the assassins, whether they were likely still there or not, whether they had ever been there at all. Obviously, children can’t harbor a political fugitive. This was purely terrorism.
I went to the African American museum today
27 January: International Holocaust Remembrance Day
On this day we honour and remember the approximately 22 million innocent souls who fell victims to hate racism and prejudice crimes, nearly 7.5 million of which were slaughtered for being who they were.
6 million Jews (1.5 million of which were children)
1.5 million Romani
270 000 People with disabilities (be it physical or mental)
55 000 gay people (approximately)
14 million civilians, caught in the crossfire, famine and ugliness of war from all over Europe.
12 000 Jehova’s Witnesses (approximately) of which 2 500 - 5 000 killed.
This day is an important reminder of what once was and what should never be again.
May their rest be more peaceful than their life and may their memory be a blessing.
Never Forget.
Short comic, while I work on something bigger on the side. It is nevertheless a very important topic. A lot of seabirds die because they eat plastic. They feed their chicks with the waste. It’s really tragic.
