The QualiaLab

Qualia ( /ˈkwɑːliə/ or /ˈkweɪliə/), singular "quale" (Latin pronunciation: [ˈkwaːle]), from a Latin word meaning for "what sort" or "what kind," is a term used in philosophy to refer to subjective conscious experiences as 'raw feels'. Examples of qualia are the pain of a headache, the taste of wine, the experience of taking a recreational drug, or the perceived redness of an evening sky. Qualia Lab, thus, is a place for one to record and explore all sorts of subjective conscious experiences. The lab is founded by Seero - an independent artist who creates art in various form.

This is a picture I painted in my secondary school days … inspired by the annual rings of plants under microscope. The worm inside the plant, within all annual rings are huge, compared with the size and the number of annual rings over the plant. The worm is huge but it is still haven’t yet be able to turn into its adult form. That’s the most subtle yet most strong expression of my internal emotion back then, through my painting.

詩畫實驗 - 月亮與螢火蟲

天這麼的清

夜, 這麼的深 , 這麼的靜

月光這麼明白

熒火蟲在跳著舞，

我們的影子在綠色的葉片上

悄然滑過

痛了，便自然懂得放下。

在製作這兩件作品時其中發生了小插曲，就是當素燒完成後，原本預留放入木枝的小孔因陶泥收縮不付預期的關係，木枝怎也不能合適地放上。 在找不到更好辨法下，唯有拿起尖鋤把孔洞按木枝形態鑿大一點點。一不小心卻把鋒利的工具往手指頭推進去。當然，當時的指頭就是鮮血直流，痛得第一反應也是馬上把手上的作品放下。 在我放下作品的那刻，就想起了一則小故事 ... 

一個苦者對和尚說：“我放不下一些事，放不下一些人。” 和尚說：“沒有什麼東西是放不下的。” 他說：“可我就偏偏放不下。” 和尚讓他拿著一個茶杯，然後就往裡面倒熱水，一直倒到水溢出來。 苦者被燙到馬上鬆開了手。 和尚說：“這個世界上沒有什麼事是放不下的，痛了，你自然就會放下。”

真正的放下，是你不介意再度提起 。

這理念也正好從作品中的沈木手木柄中體現出來。

這就是兩件陶瓷作品命名為"放下"的原因。

制作作品時的小意外當然只是一件小事情。然而，人生路上總是充滿著種種挑戰 , 如何面對失意﹑逆境, 才最考驗個人的修為。

＂放下，提起＂從來都是人生的大課題。

Rainbois' Sea - The 3rd painting of the "happiness" series. It is another Painting sharing a similar storyline of Sisyphus' Rock. The painting was done with water color this time, instead of oil or acrylic. 

The main idea behind this painting was - what matters much is now. One need not to swim anywhere to search for happiness, happiness is the present. Just relax and enjoy every present moment, so one would be filled with happiness and peaceful. Yes, it's that simple.

Special thanks to two other friends' sharing, which inspired me much for the setup of this painting.

這張作品屬 "快樂系列＂的第三張畫作，主要從 Sisyphus' Rock 作品故事作延伸，並加以帶出 "當下即岸＂的主題。岸 (快樂）並不雖要太執著到處尋找，像畫中主角一樣，在海中停下來，放鬆即可享受平和與喜樂。

We are as forlorn as children lost in the woods. When you stand in front of me and look at me, what do you know of the griefs that are in me and what do I know of yours. And if I were to cast myself down before you and weep and tell you, what more would you know about me than you know about Hell when someone tells you it is hot and dreadful? For that reason alone we human beings ought to stand before one another as reverently, as reflectively, as lovingly, as we would before the entrance to Hell.
