Sabine Weiss - 2CV à Paris, 1957
Citroen GS - wonderful set of Jaeger instruments in brushed aluminium set into that exquisite sweep which ends in that single spoke wheel
1982 Citroen CX Diesel
Citroen DS19 (1957)
That’s one way for Flaminio Bertoni to present a design.
The other involved an auto-show, but even in 1957 that was ‘like, so old fashioned.
1970 Citroën GS Special
- Old Citroëns are always so unique and pretty.
the goddess…for the geeks it’s an ID not a DS…still lovely though :)

Classic Citroën in Paris.
In 1925, André Citroën’s company was a primary sponsor and exhibitor for the Exposition Internationale des Arts Decoratifs et Industriels Modernes in Paris. The motoring magnate rented the Eiffel Tower and had thousands of lights artfully attached to the structure. At night, the double chevron emblem and name “Citroën” was an extraordinary sight seen by millions of people in “The City of Lights.” Knowing he would be displaying his company’s Citroën 5CV, Citroën commissioned Lalique to create a glass mascot that could be mounted on the radiator of the car. Citroen wanted the mascot to feature five prancing horses. Thus was born Lalique’s fifth mascot, “Cinq Chevaux.”
The Eiffel Tower served as a billboard for Citroën from 1925 to 1934. (wikipedia)

It’s worth remembering the legendary HY. Made during Citroen’s ‘quirky’ era, to borrow a James May term, which included WWII and beyond in to the seventies (think 2CV and DS), the HY was a commercial vehicle with the humblest of personalities. Most of it was cannibalised from previous Citroen’s. The engine was a 4 cylinder job from the earlier Traction Avant, producing a modest 58 bhp. As it was only front wheel drive, the whole set up could be contained in the smallish bonnet and under the passenger footwells, allowing for maximum load area.
