🧪 finally finished the boys and finally ready to talk about it after taking a moment to mourn my favourite character and you know what, i don't get where half the hate is coming from, as series finales go, this was decent and did a respectable job of adapting the story.
🧪 i really do not get why people are complaining about homelander's death sequence, him going out pathetic and powerless was incredibly fitting. also that stance of billy when he's grinning into the tv at the end. absolute cinema.
🧪 side note: why am i seeing so many absolutely arseholes joke about becca's rape and going as far to say she wasn't raped?! disgusting.
🧪 whilst i would have enjoyed seeing annie tear that thing apart limb from limb i am still bloody cracking up over that hammerhead banning the deep from the water and him getting killed by marine life.
🧪 annie and hughie were not the last ones standing this time around and their ending was really sweet. do i think it is bloody weird to call your kid after your ex (i know she died but if she hadn't have died hughie still probably would have been with her so it's still odd) when you'd moved on from your ex to the point where you were low key civil with her killer? yeah but i can see people saying that it could have been annie's idea and fair enough, i just thought it odd.
🧪 considering the fact that one of the actors was going on about how tv series should kill off more of their characters at the end i was happily surprised by the fact that mm and kimiko did not die. i was proper prepared for that and all so that was a really grand surprise. am sad mm didn't get his revenge on soldier boy but mm wanted a normal life, you could see that from the start where he didn't really want to get involved with billy and he got it, he got his wife, his kid and apparently ryan! am genuinely so chuffed mm lived.
🧪 ok, ready to talk about it. this happened in the comics, i knew it was gonna happen, i was ready from the off. the difference though is, billy's always been my favourite character from this universe, he's all manners of bloodyfucked in both the comics and on screen. unfortunately, karl urban made him even more likeable and although i was ready for billy to die, it felt almost worse watching it then it did reading it because at least on the pages, he'd gone and killed mm and kimiko so as a reader, i was ready for him to go, it was absolutely time. billy doesn't kill mm and kimiko though in the show and basically goes supegenocidal john wick after terror passes and man's been through it so i was left feeling more saddened by his tv show death.
🧪 i never watched all of gen v. i watched the series 2 finale of gen v for reasons that are embarrassing and are between me and my dead relatives and was sad to hear it got cancelled because it seemed decent! i was sad to see they didn’t really get a proper ending in the boys but i am guessing it was because they didn't know that was the end when they made series 5. i am so intrigued by the gorgeous marie, she seems so great in the gen v series 2 finale, i am really sad she didn’t get a chance to fight any of the seven, she'd have done great. had they not killed him in the gen v finale i would have loved to have seen the performance if they'd had godolkin meet homelander. i am also intrigued by the beautiful blonde in gen v who i forgot the name of so i may go back and watch gen v in its entirety one day.
🧪 might dip into the spin offs if in the boys: mexico they end the gen v lots story properly. personally? i don't really see the point of vought rising when we already know so much about soldier boy and stormfront. aya cash is a phenomenal actor though and i'm sure she'll play an even more horrifying version of stormfront in that series and i bet her performance will be fantastically sinister but am happy to call it a day with this universe.
