This other universe was a curious thing indeed. Katrina wasn’t quite sure what to think of it. On one hand, it was so much...softer, then she was used to. Their Starfleet wasn’t for the Emperor, but rather for the Federation. And her own counterpart was a psychiatrist. How absolutely interesting. Kat couldn’t help her curiosity and sidled up to the Admiral Katrina Cornwell with a bottle of (mildly illegal) Sarian brandy and a wide grin. “I don’t suppose I could indulge in a drink with you, m’lady?”

Commander:
I hope this communique reaches you in good health. I am back on Luna, though I don’t know how long until I need to head back out. Every day it seems another Federation colony is liberated from the Klingons and an Admiral needs to be there to reassure the people that everything will be fine. I do not mind coordinating the relief effort, but the talks I must give before and after do tend to wear on me. I shall endeavor not to talk too much on my work, I know it can be quite boring.
How is the Hiawatha doing? Are you keeping busy? Saving any more dashing Admirals from death via shuttlecraft?
I know it’s not much, but I’ve attached a few holologs with this. In case you want to hear my voice. I would just comm but our communication system hasn’t completely recovered from the war and other things are tacking precedence now. The first one is a disastrous attempt at cooking (don’t worry, I just got take out) and the other two are just commentary on life.
Yours,
Katrina

Sometimes I get sad about Kat because she joined the Academy young and full of hope and wonder! Then she lived through at least one war and the Tarsus tragedy, among other things. And she’s a Starfleet psychiatrist- so she gets to hear the worst of it. Oftentimes, by the time a Starfleet officer sees her, they’ve been ordered to. She’s ended a lot of careers because there’s no way these people are sane enough to go back.
And yet, here she is, an Admiral. A wartime Admiral who goes to see a friend and decides he’s unfit for command. And then she finds out her real friend might’ve been dead a lot longer and that man was an impostor.

Matt smiled and nodded, Uncle Gabe was very good at keeping out of trouble now, at least that was what Daddy had told him. “Being part alien is very cool! Especially when it’s just me and Daddy because we’re suuuuuuuuuuper special!” He said, jumping up and down for a moment and then right back on to Gabe’s lap. “I don’t like all the doctor’s trips, though, but I always get ice cream after!” He titled his head at the mention of both of his parents, he wasn’t really sure how Aunt Kat knew both of them, no one besides Uncle Gabe had ever talked her, and even then, it was only for a few minutes to him or in a hushed voice when talking to Daddy. “Did you know my Papi?”
“Yes, I did. Not as well as your Uncle Gabe or Dad, I’m afraid, but we knew each other.” Katrina explained to Matthew, smiling fondly at her memories of Hugh. Hugh had been a brilliant doctor and such a sweet partner to Paul. “I knew how much he loved your Dad. And how excited he was when they were finally able to make you.” Hugh hadn’t been able to contain his excitement about having a child with Paul.

THERE WAS A SUBLTE TWITCH of the captain’s lips at that statement. “I mean—I can think of a NUMBER of things you could do with me. Just depends on how much time we have.” An obvious flirtation, just slyly delivered so that it could just ALMOST be ignored should Kat desire to brush him off. Which he might deserve for being so difficult.
Gabriel smirked fully after that. “Kat, you have NEVER had an issue with giving me orders.—It’s more of a matter of getting me to follow them.” Gabriel Lorca, the king of splitting hairs.
Katrina sighs- she really shouldn’t have expected anything different from Gabriel “One of these days,” she said quietly, “I’ll take you up on that offer and then what’ll you do?” Not today though.
Her patience for semantics is short. “I’m not sure I see that point in continuing to issue orders that you won’t listen to. Maybe I’ll have to talk to Commander Saru to make sure things are done.”
