Love the idea that Mary would be totally fine with ftm!Neil transitioning while they're on the run because suddenly Nathan is looking for his 'daughter' and not a boy so it makes them harder to identify (for a while at least).

Also love the idea that Neil might've totally been interested in guys before he had it trained out of him, even after his transition, and Mary couldn't stand it. Not because he was gay, but purely because he shouldn't be forming bonds with anyone of either sex.

Somehow the most affirming person that could've raised Neil even if she was losing it.
