I feel like Hold Me- Weezer is such a Merthur song

I mean seriously this really captures Arthur’s last moments. He is about to die he’s scared just had his world turned upside down and realizes how powerful Merlin is (goes with the mountain/sea line) and I feel like the rest really captures his thoughts. I mean “hold me” explains itself but Merlin is fading from him and Merlin is his best friend I feel like Arthur was lonely before he met him and now he just wants to be held one more time. Yea this song is screams those two and I would go into a deeper analysis if I wasn’t in the car rn.

Aaand Merlin's now trending again for no apparent reason other than... well, the anniversary of you-know-what.

I love that it can be a random day in December, and the Merlin fandom collectively wakes up to make this happen:

I saw this and was like what is going on and then i remembered it was indeed December

neither nimueh nor uther knew of the price for arthur's life but uther wanted him enough to risk it and ended up losing the love of his life. merlin didn't know the price for putting arthur's life over magic, but he wanted arthur to live badly enough to risk it and ended up losing him. the parallel is insane and it's always been over arthur's life. ygraine's life was the price for uther's mistake and arthur's life was the price for merlin's. uther and merlin both unknowingly condeming the people they love. I'm going insane if you haven't noticed.

The parallels between Uther and Merlin are actually insane especially when you take into consideration how they are both powerful men who lost the person dearest to them as a result of their actions and choices and as a result had to live with the aftermath of that. Their parallels make me go feral.

Adding on to this the parallels of Arthur and Ygraine are just *chefs kiss* like aside from the very obvious physical resemblance Arthur has to his mother they both died young as a result of magic and someone else's choices. They were both seen as good and just people while their counterparts (Uther and Merlin) were willing to do increasingly messed up things in their name.

I’ve never even thought of it like this. But it definitely is something to think about. This lens kinda makes Uther and Merlin’s interactions more interesting to look at. Like that part where Uther says he is glad of Merlin and Arthur’s bond. Maybe he can recognize that same ardent “protective” nature in Merlin. I mean Merlin has lied to the king for Arthur and he got what the stocks? For lying to the king (not even in the most polite way either) you would think Merlin’s old get a wayyy worse punishment. But maybe Uther values that their is someone who is willing to go to great lengths to protect Arthur even in a messed up sorta of way. I don’t know something to chew I’ll have to rewatch those scenes.
