Masquerades were a strange sort of thing, humans flocked to them giddily like they were novel and new with no notice for how cliche they were. They donned a mask, and played out the same stories, convinced their minor existence was diffrent. It was cute. The sea of colour and dancing bodies was endless, both out of excitement and necessity in the chill air.
Koschei slipped through the grand affair, avoiding the gin-soaked dance partners and over-bearing women, owl-like gaze settling on someone recognizable, âForgive me, but even behind that mask you donât seem to be enjoying yourself.â
She was horribly bored by it all, the finery and the pleasantries. Her brother had insisted it was for the best of their kingdom, potential allies and trading partners. But these people were just so boring, she rolled her eyes from behind the iced mask at yet another âdaringâ suitor trying to woo her.
She had just stepped away when a new man approached, his body radiating power as his eyes caught her like she was some sort of prey. It was a welcome change of pace frmo the night thus far. âHonestly, Iâm not. These sort of functions bore me, every lady and lord bending to kiss anotherâs posteriorr.â
