Roger Ashton-Griffiths as Mace Tyrell (1st pic) The titular head of the rising-in-power Tyrell family, Mace is regarded as something of a useless lump by his mother Lady Olenna, the real matriarch of the family. One thing's certain then, Roger Ashton-Griffiths, whom UK TV-watching audiences will recognise for a plethora of roles, including his recent appearance in The Tudors, will be sharing screen time with Dame Diana Rigg. Trivial: Ashton-Griffiths' character is the father to Ser Loras and Margaery Tyrell, played by Finn Jones and his The Tudors co-star, Natalie Dormer. Pedro Pascal as Prince Oberyn Martell, The Red Viper (2nd pic)) The Good Wife's Pedro Pascal was the first newcomer to be confirmed for season four, and he seems a fine choice to play the "forceful, lusty man with a quick wit and a barbed tongue", as his character is described in the novels. Salty Dornishman Prince Oberyn comes to King's Landing with revenge on his mind in Martin's A Song Of Ice And Fire series. Mark Gatiss as Tycho Nestoris (3rd pic) When we were lucky enough to chat to Mark Gatiss earlier this year, he confessed that he hadn't yet seen Game of Thrones. We wonder if that's been rectified now that he's going to appear in season four as Tycho Nestoris, representative of the Iron Bank of Braavos? Nestoris' bank is notorious in the Seven Kingdoms for always getting back the money it's owed, which on paper, should make it a good match for the Lannisters, who always pay their debts... Trivial: Gatiss' casting last month sent the geek world aflutter, and though few had him pegged for Nestoris, it's a very sound fit. Indira Varma as Ellaria Sand (4th pic) Luther fans will need no reminder as to who Indira Varma is (and indeed, should Neil Cross' prequel film come off, we should be seeing her again as the wife of Idris Elba's character, Zoe). The versatile actress is currently appearing in BBC murder mystery What Remains, and was recently seen in Hunted and Silk in the UK, though is perhaps still best known around the world for her role as Niobe in HBO's Rome. Trivial: Returning to HBO, Varma is to play Ellaria Sand, who in the books is the mother of the four youngest Sand Snakes (don't be concerned, it's a nickname), and lover of Prince Oberyn Martell. Joseph Gatt as Styr, Magnar of Thenn Banshee, Star Trek Into Darkness and Thor have all welcomed the talents and otherworldly appearance of Joseph Gatt, who seems born to play fierce Wildling chief Styr in Game of Thrones season four.
