Eat me!?

So I don’t really know how to post fics on here this is my first time doing so, so here’s my attempt! No real warnings for this just slight flirting if you squint, over all tho SFW.

This is a So’lek X Insert/oc (Alpha! So’lek X Omega! Insert/oc) this is an Omega-verse, or an attempt at one, fic. Rather mild I’d think but I’ll let yall be the judge.

General situation of the fic, It’s been an interesting couple of weeks. First Crow got sent through some interdimensional…thing??? We still don’t fully know honestly, straight into the world of Pandora with all the knowledge of it from ours. Luckily some higher being, be it Eywa herself or otherwise, decided to bless her with a body that fits this world, granted it's basically a body like an Avatar/Recom at least she can survive! Did we mention this is an Omegaverse? Next she’s pleading her case with Alma and the rest of the resistance, thankfully Alma listened for once in her life and cleared her as trusted. Then there was the case of So’lek, he was a little harder to convince as he wouldn’t fully understand the whole interdimensional travel deal. But he understands she's telling the truth after informing of how his mentor Wawen died and the fact he still has Wawen’s neckguard, these being things only he is aware of.

~time to get this show on the road~

Now this leads to the present, So’lek has taken a bit of an interest in her as she is aware of him and his past yet he knows nothing of her, how dare she see him but not he her. Also the fact he can tell there are certainly some kind of feelings on her end though she doesn’t do anything about it, plus she is rather easy to scare and that was rather amusing to him and found great enjoyment in sneaking up on her. Thus we end up here where he is yet again sneaking, not quite, upon her.

Crow was currently perched on the floor near Alex, she was sorting through some old parts and placing them in different boxes for Alex to file away for future use. So’lek stood about five feet away watching, yet another thing he was a little fond of that he won’t admit was how expressive she was with the new ears and tail. Most Na'vi, while expressive, tended to be somewhat mindful of it, Crow however wore them on her sleeve. Currently she was rather focused on her task, ears lightly pinned and tail swaying, occasionally hitting the nearby stool or table leg.

Being somewhat careful he crept up next to her, being half a foot away now and yet she didn't notice. Crouching he was practically leaning over her shoulder watching the process. Alex after a few minutes noticed, yet So’lek gave him a look. Ten minutes passed and now he’s grown bored watching and spoke up, she’s already tapped his leg twice at this point.

“What are you doing?” The scream and scent spike that followed was certainly amusing, he grabbed her arm to keep her from falling before standing them both up.

“WHAT THE FUCK?! How long were you there?!”

“Ten minutes.” She looked back at Alex who nodded in confirmation. “What if I had been a Palulukan, you need to pay more attention to your surroundings.”

She huffed, scent taking a bitter quality, ears pinned further and tail lashing “Right because a Thanator is gonna walk right in here without anyone raising the alarm, and why would it come straight to me? There’s a ton more people it would pass first!”

“That may be true, but a distracted target makes for an easy meal.” he said.

“That sounds like a threat, are you planning on eating me or something?”

He shifted back a bit to get a better look at her, visibly looking up and down “maybe.”

She blanched, looked back at Alex then back to him in shock “Alex! I’m bunking with you for the next couple nights! You hearing this? He's planning on eating me!”

Alex barked a laugh “No you’re not! You’re too big, there's no room!”

“Hey! Rude! Not wrong, but rude! Anyway, besides plotting to kill and eat me, what are you doing over here?” she asked, picking up the boxes that got knocked in the scare, her scent leveling back out.

“You should work on your senses, maybe you would notice when someone is walking up on you. How did you not notice me so close? ”

“You offering to help me with that? cause I don’t know the first thing about how Na’vi senses work, plus! Your scent and the sarentu’s are all over this damn place, sorry I didn't notice a difference."

He hummed unimpressed with the excuse “ I thought you knew everything of this world and her people? Does that not include how one's senses work?”

Having gone back to sorting for Alex, she merely shook her head “ I know how things will possibly play out and some things about her people, not that I’m all knowing. The game simply gave us a button to use for the senses, not a run down on how they work.”

“Then we work on them now.”

“What? Now? But I'm–" he cut her, voice catching an authoritative lite “we work on them, now.”

Her ears perked before lowering, eyes averting “ye ye we can work on them now, you don’t have pull rank on me. I’m still getting used to that bit.”

Grunting, he cleared his throat and bowed his head a touch “I apologize, that was not intentional.” Catching Alex’s eye, who had been watching this whole time, he gave him a nod “May I take her Alex?”

He looked a little startled “Oh yes! That's perfectly fine, I can finish up here Crow, you really do need to work on those.”

“Just throw me to the wolves Alex tsk tsk, I could die!”

“He may be big and scary but he won't kill you.”

“He’s already threatened to eat me Alex!” Throwing her hand in So’lek’s direction “And you say he won’t kill me!?”

So’lek rolled his eyes at this “We are simply trying to improve your senses, no harm will come to you”

“If you say so” Setting the scraps and box down on the desk she waved bye to Alex “alright lets get this show on the road then.”

So'lek led her to the clearing just behind HQ, she stopped yet he continued on.

“Wait where are you going? We’re outside like you wanted right?” Crow asked, confused why he wanted to go anywhere else.

“We are moving to a clearer area, there is too much…Human influence this close, come” he nodded his head to the uphill he was heading toward.

Following, they made their way up a rocky stairway until they reached a small flow of water coming from the falls. She watched as he casually walked through and on toward the cliff face. Making a face she realized she’ll have to ditch her boots, lest she want to be walking with water logged feet. Slipping them off and placing them off to the side she walked through too, giving a light hiss at the chill before catching up.

“Do you know what this is?” he asked, gesturing to the vine.

“Oh uh it’s a lift vine right?”

He nodded, “yes that is correct, do you know how to use it?”

Carefully she touched it “you just grab and hold on right? It pulls you up by itself?”

“Yes you hold on and it pulls you up, now do so”

“What?”

“Grab it and hold on, I will stay here in case you fall.”

“oh … okay” carefully she took hold, giving a firm grasp she could feel the vine begin to lift. A gasp left her as her feet left the ground, the vine picking up speed, a nervous laugh left her as she pulled herself up onto the cliff and she looked over “I did it!” she cheered tail wagging playfully.

He gave a slight smile as the vine came back down and he soon joined her at the top “there will be a few more of those on our way, come.”

Walking a little ways there was more water but a faster and deeper stream. So’lek continued on, jumping across to the next section. He looked back “are you coming? It is not that far.”

Crow paced slightly trying to gage the gap, he was right it wasn’t really that far of a jump but she also wasn’t that coordinated of a person. Tail giving stiff twitches to try and balance she stepped back before giving it a go. She almost made it fully but her foot slipped, So’lek grabbed her arm before she could slip more.

“See? No harm to come.”

“Easy for you to say, you grew up doing this on the daily. I'm just a human reincarnated here.” she huffed “thank you though.”

Following along the path they found more water, thankfully only ankle deep, that led into a cave. Crow took in the beautiful bioluminescence that revealed itself in the darkness. Beautiful pink glowing moss and a number of varying blue mushrooms and flowers, and on the way out a number of blue beetles could be seen crawling along the wall. Ears perking up, crow spotted the next lift vine, with a giggle she trotted past So’lek and allowed the vine to take her up, He huffed a laugh as he followed suit.

Trotting along ahead following the clear plath through a tunnel mouth, floating lantern lizards bobbing alone above her head, she laughed as she lightly pushed one away. She gasped as she came to a stop, “great more water.”

So’lek came up behind “are you going to continue?”

“But that's too wide to jump.”

“Then do not jump, wade through, it is not that deep.”

“Here I thought we were going to ‘practice my senses’ but all I've done so far is get wet, I’m starting to think you chose this spot just for all the water features.”

He let out a quiet chuckle, gently nudging her forward from her lower back “ well go on then, i can not enjoy the view as you would say if you are up here dry now can I”

Puffing her slightly flushed cheeks at him she swatted his hand away, her scent picking up a sweeter tone “ye ye i’m going, i’m going, smartass.” careful of her footing she stepped in. Hissing at the coldness as the water licked the bottoms of her shorts, she waded through to the other side.

Looking back So’lek had followed her, looking as un bothered as ever “see that was not so hard was it?” as he walked past she stuck her tongue out mocking his tone when he wasn't looking.

Continuing onward So’lek had picked up the pace he was now moving in a trot, longer strides than her own, they continued. Traveling through shallow streams across roots and up ledges and lift vines. At one point they went through a large hollow log to cross over a gap in the cliff. Soon they found themselves crossing over a tangle of roots and to what she thought a dead end, until he suddenly dropped into a crouch.

“Wait what? Where–” but she was cut off as he, surprisingly, managed to fit into a small opening in the cliff wall. Crouching herself she peaked into the dark crevice, she briefly caught a flash of his golden eyes as his shadow disappeared around a corner. Ears pinning she huffed as she crawled into the space.

It wasn't as small on the inside as she thought , it quickly grew to a more comfortable crouching height before opening out to a small clearing. So’lek stood nearby on a ledge waiting before they carried on to the next vine. Climbing to the next section there were helicoradians all over the place. As they walked through she let her hands graze the flora laughing as multiple shrunk down in a plop sound.

“Come along, this is the last vine, we are almost there.”

Heading over he gestured for her to go first, grabbing hold of the vine it pulled her up to a view she never thought to see. Looking around she could tell she was way higher than she's been, So’lek came up next from the vine and chuckled at her expression “almost, this is not the view i had planned. Go on across the roots there, then you can be impressed.”

Looking forward she made her way over and carefully crossed the tangle of roots connecting the peaks. Slowly she stepped more into the center of the space, she let out a breath taking in the view. The mass of tree tops with the floating mountains high above, and at the center of it all, Polyphemus, with two other moons visible nearby.

“Wow… this is…this is beautiful.” she breathed out just taking it all in. “ I thought it was beautiful in the game, but this is something else.”

So’lek walked up beside her, taking in the view too “yes, beautiful.”

Shifting his gaze down to her, the wonder of one seeing something so simple yet so fantastical to herself, his gaze softened. She was not of this world just like the other humans, yet she was not of theirs either, he was slowly seeing her too.

Allowing himself to come back to present he cleared his throat “we should begin on why we came here, are you ready?”

Snapping back to herself she almost forgot “oh right! Uh so how is this gonna work?”

“First, center yourself, close your eyes and allow Pandora to speak to you. Take in the sounds, the smells, how the air shifts. Feel how the ground shifts beneath our feet, the subtle vibrations as her creatures travel, take it in, listen to her.”

Taking a breath she moved to the center most space of the peaks clearing. Allowing her long bared feet to settle into the moss, closing her eyes she listened. The cries of many creatures rang through the breeze that caressed her. The scent of Pandora and her creatures filled her senses. The sudden vibration of the ground shifting startled her, feeling the subtle sway.

“Next, you must narrow it down, do not allow her to overwhelm you. Pinpoint specific targets, the flora and fauna.”

Grounding herself she focused, attempting to narrow down to her immediate surroundings. She could feel the subtle shift of the moss as So’lek crept around her, she could feel his gaze as he observed. The breeze drifted the metallic scent he carried, his natural one barely noticeable but there. The air pressure gave a shift as something buzzed close to her head, enough of a warning for her to move for a beetle to go by.

“Good, good. Now can you do it without the need of blinding yourself?”

“Uh, that is up for debate honestly, I'm a rather visual person.”

“It will take time to fully get used to it but that is what practice is for, for now you try.”

Closing her eyes again she took a few breaths to focus and opened eyes to try. Crow kept her eyes and focus on the cat ear plants, effectively zoning out and not actually sensing anything to the point she jumped at the hand on her shoulder.

“Try again, do not focus so hard on one thing, take it all in.”

“Right, all of it, not just one thing…”

Trying again she started with the cat ears before slowly drifting to the smoldering firepit, and to the trees and ferns. It was a slow start but the ambient sounds started to fade away. The steady beats of nearby stingbats and insects were more prominent, So’leks steps on the ground ringing loud. Light pops of dying embers and the rustle of the leaves. The loud cry of a ikran startled her out of it as the black beast dived and circled round before fleeing off to join their flock higher up, the flashes of yellow being the last visible part of it.

She gasped and ended up backing right into So’lek as they watched the beautiful creature leave “wow, that…that was a unique one i’ve only really seen the blue and green ones flying around.”

Placing steading hands on her shoulders he hummed, watching the ikran as it circled above with its peers, he could see it thinking and watching, watching her specifically. “I think that will not be the last of it you will see.”

“What do you mean?” she questioned looking back at him.

“Do you see?” he pointed it out amongst the others “they are playing and enjoying their flight, that one is watching us, you, it will not be the last time you will see it.”

“Huh.” she watched. He was right, the others were minding their business, the black beast was actively watching. One of the others let out a cry, the leader maybe, the rest followed it as it left. The black beast looked back once more, shrieking out at them before leaving to follow the rest.

“Well, I think that's our cue this lesson is over, care to lead the way back home?” she stepped away from him, taking in the view one more time.

“Yes, let us head back, dusk will fall soon and we can continue another day. Perhaps we should consider other practices as well.”

“Oh? Like what?” she asked as they made their way back, the trip taking less time then the trek to get there.

“I would assume you do not know how to handle any weapons?”

“Nope, never learned. Never had too either, but I guess I have too now don't I.”

“If you wish to survive by yourself, should the circumstances be such, then yes you do.”

Her ears pinned in thought and worry. She had already warned Alma what might happen if she does not open up to the sarentu in time. Had also warned her of the walkie Teylan has been fixing, and to be gentle about it but she should do something about it soon.

“Remember how I said I know how things may play out? I fear you are right in my need to learn to fight, yet I'm afraid to do so as well.”

They stopped just outside HQ, he placed a hand to her shoulder to try and reassure her “It is important to know how to defend one's self and others. It is a frightening thing to have to learn but it is important.” Just under the metallic smell she could pick up his natural scent pushing out in a warm comforting way.

She allowed it to sooth the fear of what may happen, having not realized herself hers had spiked leaving a palpable taste of bitter coffee on his tongue. “I just hope my warnings are enough and we don't lose anyone. Tomorrow? You can show me how to use some weapons tomorrow?”

He hummed and gave her shoulder a squeeze before ushering her inside “yes, we shall continue tomorrow with a new lesson, for now we eat and rest.”

“I look forward to it then. Just don’t eat me.” she cracked a smile at him.

“I make no such promises.” he smiled back.
