Looking for some trans woman sapphic fiction? Or perhaps a found family of women with uncommonly depicted disorders? Would you like a reluctant leading lady who most definitely did not sign up for all the twists life is throwing at her?
Then check out the upcoming book Starspire!
An untraditional, dark fantasy, romance with all those tasty tropes usually reserved for male characters or m/f stories.
No, really, I have never read a female character written in such a way. She’s allowed to be messy and chaotic and powerful, she’s allowed to be cocky and smart. If you tend to like anti-hero male leads or have been desperately wishing for a lady like them, then Keondra is the character for you.
Her co-lead and love interest is Sophie. A trans woman vampire wolf prince who is basically a big himbo who follows Keo around like a puppy (much to Keo’s annoyance).
Enemies to lovers (except Sophie has been Miss Heart Eyes over Keo since day 1)
And did I mention, they were roommates?
At an Academy meant for those with mental disorders to help learn to handle their disorder in a healthy way.
Their soon to be cohorts and friends are Aphiwe (an African lion vampire) and Mirai (a yukionna yokai). Both of whom are rich and fun characters in their own right!
Our leading lady also has quite the complex relationship with her family, especially her adoptive grandmother (who happens to be the Mother Goddess).
Story is both a sequel to Bloodlines of Fildegard and a prequel (told via flashbacks). But if you haven’t read that yet- you should totally check it out before Starspire releases!
Plot is a delicious mix of romance, drama and action (both the regular and spicy kinds) and has you turning pages as quick as you can!
If you love world building, then get ready for the semi-nomadic monarcho-communist animal vampire lore. (And don’t forget the various realms, locations, and other crunchy tidbits!)
And if you love romance, then get ready for the slow burn of Keo slowly letting Sophie further and further into her life.
Oh and did I mention, the book is #ownvoices for lesbian sexuality and ASPD!
Starspire releases November 11th, so check it out and support the author by ordering from her site digitally (see this tumblr’s links!), or search your local Amazon for “Sara Ferrando Estarlich” books if you’d rather have a Kindle copy.
