Strong contender for favorite manga panel ever tbh
This is how it must feel to have the gift of prophecy
Normal groceries like milk or bread or whatever running out is whatever. Just anotha day. But when stuff like salt or cooking oil or rice runs out it feels like You’re supposed to be here for me and you’re leaving. You’re just like everyone else
Monster the manga is just so compelling and good....I love the way the story is constructed a lot... And the pacing... And the focus on old people and children a lot of times....
my favourite part of pride month is the increase of posts about queer history that get half the facts wrong
Work is awful today I need to get killed fr
Also this girl dad or boymom type shit is always red flag pissing me off bc like it always loops back into some of the most archaic sexist bullshit ever.... Every single time
the womens conditions here are still entirely dependent on the men who keep them. the contracts are written by men for men to men. the women are still treated at best as beloved pets who occasionally get a say. these are still sweet stories but this is not actually being treated as a person
Agree and it's like, literally one example out of how many billions of women who were married off?
“Some people claim that women were treated like property but this story of a guy writing an elaborate contract about the conditions in which he will hand over his daughter to some other guy (somehow) refutes that”
the way ozempic has finally made the fact that eating healthy and exercising doesn't necessarily make you thin well known and society's reaction to this is not "oh i guess being thin or fat doesn't actually show if you're healthy" but "oh i guess everyone should be on this drug"
I hate that this is infact how ozempic is viewed now because I watched, in real time, how my mothers diabetes got significantly better on ozempic, she didn't start it for weight loss, infact she started it before it even got big for weight loss, but all people can talk about is the weight loss on ozempic and not how good it is as a diabetes medication. Watching my mom find energy and happiness because for once a drug wasn't making her lethargic and miserable was wonderful, she was able to feel better, but then it was spouted as this miracle weight loss drug, and suddenly she just couldn't access it anymore at a good price. Not only has the ozempidemic made fatphobia normal in an already fatphobic society but it's making it harder to access for people who genuinely need it because it's seen as a luxury cosmetic drug.
2-YEAR CHEDDAR
from GRAFTON VILLAGE
I usually try to review cheeses virginally - that is, ones that I’ve never had before. In this case, this is a cheddar I’ve had many times before. But I couldn’t leave it off the blog, what with its obvious appeal to leather and rubber fetishists.
As far as cheddars go, Grafton’s 2-year aged isn’t going to shock you. It’s mild, light on the salt, with a slightly sweet and grassy flavour. It’s got a nice texture. It’s dense, more moist than I expected, and smooth.
So what is the deal with the gummi suit on this cheese anyway? Well, cheese has obviously been around a lot longer than fridges. Fresh cheeses like mozzarella are too moist to last very long outside of a cold place (bacteria and fungi do so love damp places), though I don’t think anyone was too mad about eating that stuff quickly. But cheeses that have been aged (and dried) more have some more preservation options, which is where cheese wax comes in. The wax is a physical barrier, stopping fungal spores from landing, and also blocks moisture and air, making the cheese a pretty unfriendly place to grow. Even drier cheeses can be bandaged in cheesecloth and then slathered in lard to preserve them while allowing some ventilation.
I gotta admit: hot wax isn’t really my thing. But cheesecloth bondage and grease… it has potential.
this site used to be awesome
