rowan closes her eyes & counts slowly to ten, willing the sudden flash of ire to dissipate. the fire which has been stoked does not easily drown itself out but at least she is no longer curling her fists together ready to punch the stranger behind her. an accident. it was an accident.
but she doesn’t fully believe it.sure it’s first year when most of the people around her are strangers except the few she’s said hello to. yet what sort of bad luck must she be wielding for the boy behind her in charms class somehow backfires on his spell casting & ends up hitting her? he didn’t even sit close to her either, a reflection off the window had been what ended up smacking her.
now if it was what the actual spell was supposed to be for, making her simply levitate than she might not have minded. however, there was a backlash of some sort which has led her hair to become striped reminiscent of the rainbow unicorns that muggles seem to have an obsession with buying plushies of.
❝ please tell me you can change it back, ❞ she spins around to face the perpetrator & says, hoping the irritation would not be detected. it probably will be though.
that’s not what the spell is supposed to do. that’s nothing like what the spell is supposed to accomplish. lance read his textbook besides his notes, he’s heard and understood what the professor was saying, and he sure as hell made sure to double check with the classmate besides him about the pronunciation of the levitation spell, so he can’t tell where he goes wrong when he casts the simple spell. it’s such a simple spell and yet the light ushered from his wand goes bouncing off it’s intended and landing onto another student.
lance looks at the girl sheepishly as she turns on him, arm raising up to scratch behind his head. there’s a nervous smile he allows to appear on his face, and he does nothing to hide the utter guilt he feels at the rather poor outcome of his spell. it is his fault that her hair looks atrocious, but nothing comes to mind on how to fix it, and it has him feeling so bad.
he casts his eyes down. “sorry. i didn’t mean for that to happen. i thought i had the spell down, but this,” he looks back up and waves his hand at the girl’s hair, “says otherwise. maybe i can ask the professor if they can do something about it?”
