Last Ghost

There is a ghost in the ghost quest that is often overlooked, despite walking past it several times.  It's mostly hidden behind a tree (and easy to spot if the tree is gone or young), and almost completely obscured by cherry trees.

Go to Hackfast Quicks. Go to the shrine, then go right until you get to the first tree to the right of the shrine.  Look above the tree; you may just see a head peeking out if your ghost is there.

How to photograph yourself sleeping:

Go into camera mode.

Type "afk" (without the quotation marks) in local chat and hit enter.

Wait for your speech bubble to disappear.

Click on "Take Picture".

Those darn wood tree badges!

It's tough to get those wood tree badges (Wood Abettor, Lumber Lover, and Timber Nut) out in the "wild".  So to get them, I suggest you put as many patches as you can in your backyard and plant wood tree beans in them.

Every time a wood tree with three branches grows into a wood tree with four branches upon your petting/watering it, it counts toward the achievements. So here's what you need to do:

1. Plant the bean(s)

2. When they're past seedling stage, fertilidust them to three branches

3. Water and pet them until they are four branches

4. Once they are four branches, you may immediately harvest them.  It will take more than one harvest to knock them back down to three branches. Don't pet or water them until they are down to three.

5. Once they're back to three branches, water/pet until they're four again. Harvest to three. Repeat until you've got your badges. 

Note: it is absolutely unrealistic to expect to be able to do this on your home street as well. People are going to fertilidust, pet, water, harvest, you name it. Just put 'em in your back yard and then swap them out for something else once you've got the achievements. You can put as many or as few as you want. I'm actually working on the badges with a single tree, because I don't want to give up any of my herb gardens in the backyard.

Hi!

So there's a new, cute, friendly little thing you can do--if you press 5 or the letter h, and there is someone nearby, you will basically say "hi!" to them, giving them a mood boost.  More details on that here.

What I wanted to say about it is that I've noticed some people feeling snubbed when their "Hi!" wasn't returned. And I wish they didn't feel bad about this! There are a bunch of reasons people might not say hi back:

1. They don't know how yet, or what just happened, because they haven't read the updates

2. They might be lagged

3. They might not be paying attention

4. They might have tried to reciprocate, but their "Hi!" landed on another player since you don't have a ton of control over it

5. ??? There are an infinite number of circumstances that it could be

Basically, if you don't get a "Hi!" back, don't feel bad or snubbed! Just go on with your Glitching. If it's someone you know, then say hello via local chat or instant message if you want to make sure they notice you. :)

Repairing a tinkertool to 100%

A quest requires you to repair a tinkertool to 100%. The problem is, when you click "repair" on a tinkertool, it only repairs to 99.5%!  This is because, in the latter situation, you're using the tool to repair itself.

Solution:  Get a second tinkertool. Put it in the same bag as your original tinkertool.  Drag one over and drop it on the other.  Done.

To get a second tinkertool, you can either buy one or ask someone to loan you one.

How to die a lot in one day

Today's feat required a LOT of Glitchen to die. To die a lot, even. Dozens of times in a day, even! So let's talk about death--I won't go into efficiency of using up the energy, that can be dealt with later.

1. Die your natural death by using up all your energy.  The very fastest way to do this is singing to butterflies.  Each time you sing, you lost 10% of you max energy. Some people also make cheese, process raw ingredients (bubbles, gas, spice, fruit). Whatever you want, use it up. You only get ONE natural death per day.

Use your preferred method to return from the dead, whether it's squishing grapes or using a Get Out Of Hell Free Card.  If you want to have energy to use upon your return, use the card.

2. Use no-no powder. You CANNOT use it if you are "pooped" (if you try, your powder will go away, but you won't get any effects from it), so if you just came back from hell, you'll need to gain just enough energy to get out of "pooped". The no-no will allow you to do anything without using energy.  Then it crashes, and after the crash is over, you die.  You can avoid the crash by taking more no-no powder, but the crashes get shorter each time until just taking it kills you. You can do this for a while, until you get "super pooped"

3. Use Wine Of The Dead. Drinking it will instantly kill you, if you are not in Hell. It's the only way to die once you're super pooped.  You get it by exchanging the Diabolical Drink Ticket for the wine at the Hell Bar (at the end of Naraka). You get a ticket when someone mourns or celebrates at your gravestone.

Please note that, once you have regained (and lost) the equivalent of 20x your energy max, you will become "super pooped". You will not be able to gain energy at all, until the next day.

How to make fuel

Fuelmaking requires you to first learn the skill Fuelmaking.

Once you've learned that, you'll need to put together a fuelmaker machine.

To make a single fuel cell, you need 8 blocks of peat, 12 jellisacs, and 2 white gas (you get white gas by using a gassifier to transform general vapour into white gas; it takes 8  general vapour to make 1 white gas).

Once you have these ingredients, click on the fuelmaking machine and select "Use". It will pop up a menu with only one item; select that item and follow the directions.

Fuelmakers need fuel in order to run! Luckily, the machines start out 50 units of fuel upon assembly, and it only takes 1 unit of fuel to make 1 fuel cell. To refuel the machine, you'll need to be out of the operation menu. Click on the machine and select "refuel", or drag and drop a fuel cell from your inventory to the machine (drag and drop is faster).

You can make more than 1 cell at a time, and some upgrades will increase the number you can make at a time.

You also can occasionally get a fuel cell as a random drop from gardening. The higher your gardening skill, the more likely it is you'll get one.

How to install machines

To install a machine, you'll first need to learn Engineering.  Go do that.  I'll wait.

Okay, now you need the parts.  EVERY machine requires a machine stand and a machine engine.  The specific machines each require two additional parts specific to them.  For example, to build a woodworking machine, you need a machine stand, a machine engine, a woodworker chassis, and a woodworker fuser.

Now, go to the spot where you want to install it.  Click on the machine stand in your inventory and select "Place".  It will either put it down, or it will tell you there's no room.  Find a spot where there is room and place the stand.

Click on the stand and select "Assemble".  Then, click on it and select "Add Component".  Select the component for the machine you want to install. Click on the machine again and select "Install". Click on the unfinished machine to add and install the remaining components.

There are wonderful upgrade cards that will let you assemble machines more quickly:

Speedy Assembler reduces the time it takes to install each component

Master Assembler lets you install a machine with one click (but you have to install the machine stand first)

Master Exploder lets you disassemble a machine with one click (machine stand is left, and still installed)

Additionally, some upgrade cards (Mad Machinist, and Mad Machinist II) let you make larger batches with your machines. Other cards give you a chance at imagination bonuses when using certain machines.

For new players: Quick and easy trophies!

If you're a new player, you can very quickly and easily gain some of the trophies.  All you need to do is make one each of the different types of spice, gas, and bubbles, then do the extra action on each of the types (for example, click "Lift" on heavy gas).

If you make sure to imbibe silvertongue essence before each trophy (or before each badge!), you will get bonus rewards!

Can't nibble a pig?

Sometimes when you try to nibble a pig, it'll say you can't nibble it.  Then the pig will make a sad face.

There are two things you can do:

1. Pet the pig.  When they haven't been petted for a while, they get "sad" and won't let you nibble.

2. Feed the pig. The quickest, easiest fix for a hungry pig is to feed it a single meat.

If you do these two things, the pig will let you nibble. By the way, a sad pig will still produce meat for meat collectors, but hungry ones will eventually starve to death.  Keep a feeder out for pigs and make sure it's full.

The best filler for a pig feeder is grain. Unlike stills, each item, no matter what it is, counts as 1 in a pig feeder.  So an awesome stew will fill the same amount of space as a single grain. It's silly to use anything that is worth more than grain.

Crab benefits!

I can't tell you how to Make a Crab Happy (it's mostly luck), but you CAN get better rewards from him by drinking a Crabato Juice right before you play a song for him!

You get Crabato Juice by hugging crabs.  You should flatter them first, though, or they won't welcome the hugs!

Gardening and home streets

I've seen a LOT of people complaining about never getting any of the herbs (or produce) that grows in their home streets, because other players come in and harvest them. I have quite a few thoughts on this topic, so bear with me.

1. If your main concern is having enough herbs (and/or vegetables), then clear out everything in your back yard. You can fit five large herb gardens in a back yard. That should, honestly, be more than enough for anyone.

2. But, you say, I want to have trees as an easy source of bubbles/fruit/whatever!  Or barnacles! Or other self-replenishing resource.  No problem, those can all go right in your front yard, and you will have none of the problems associated with gardens. You'll have easy access to it without competing with other players.

I actually feel that putting trees in your back yard--if having enough herbs is an issue for you--is a waste of space, considering the SAME trees will give you the same amount of items in your front yard, with the added imagination bonus from other people using it.

3. Your home street is a public resource--but it's a public resource that benefits YOU the more people use it. More traffic = more imagination for you, something you get every day--and you don't have to do anything except click on your magic rock once a game day. I've also found that more traffic = more sales in my tower.

4. Because of #3, your best use of that public space is to make it as attractive as possible, with minimal upkeep. Unless you decide to join a resource route, try to balance out slowly renewing resources (such as jellisacs) with ones that replenish quickly (or with trees, which need only be watered and petted if they run out--and it takes a LOT for them to run out).

5. You will be FAR less stressed out over the home street once you accept that, because it is public, you really cannot control how other people use those resources. Yes, you could vigilantly monitor the street's comings and goings and ban every single person you think might have done something you don't like, but is that really an enjoyable way to play?  If your goal is to grow lots of herbs, your time would be better spent tending your 5 backyard plots and gathering piles of guano rather than struggling to compete with all of Ur for your home street gardens. 

So you've really got two easy choices: Either remove gardens from your home street, or relax and don't fret about how they are being used.  In either case, you can get what you need from cultivating your back yard.
