Fire Man was counting on those explosives taking care of Guts Man - or at least hindering him enough that he could make his escape. They had done neither, as he could feel the behemoth's enraged roar shake the ground well after he should've been incapacitated. Gritting his teeth, he refused to look back and ran full speed, fully overestimating his opponent's current condition. He was well within his rights to, for as long as that beast was online, he would put everything into fulfilling the objective of taking Fire Man down.
Fire Man, sad to say, had no more explosives with which to use against Guts Man. Being a sadistic monster known and wanted for murder made obtaining functional supplies extraordinarily difficult. Lacing that hideout with explosives took weeks of work, and he couldn't spare any explosives. He began to regret not spending just a little more time searching for more of them, but he quickly shoved the thought out of his processor. No matter; if bombs wouldn't do, perhaps a bit of fire would.
There was the sound of the ground splitting open and it gave way under him. Holding in a yelp of surprise, Fire Man desperately reached for some sort of stable ground, something that wasn't falling apart so he could pull himself up and keep moving. He finally found some, but by the time he did, he was partially buried, and had to pull himself up, which took far more time than he would've liked.
Fire Man did not like this at all. He was currently operating at 75% capacity, mostly so he could focus on his retreat. Clearly, that was far too low, and so he immediately switched to 100% capacity. What worried him was that he wasn't sure if this behemoth was running at full power or not, and it was entirely possible he wasn't. Guts Man is a newer, more recent model of the juggernaut combat robot, whereas Fire Man was the first, and not quite up-to-snuff. Although he had observed the beast from afar, he could've been upgraded, or perhaps Fire Man was simply unable to take him on in direct combat.
Regardless, Fire Man continued his retreat, the fear slowly building in his processor as he registered the shaking of the ground caused by Guts Man's feet. He dared not look behind him, he would not look, he wouldn't look. As he ran, he began to build up the steongest fire storm he could muster, hoping that somehow, it would take this monstrosity down. The ground around him was spontaneously combusting from the heat alone, and the flames in his cauldron flared up as it released more and more pressure. Almost there, almost there...
In less than ten seconds, Fire Man had done all he could do to charge up his weapons, and if this didn't work, nothing would. Switching his hands to arm cannons, his irises glowing a bright red and his scelera turning yellow, Fire Man skidded to a stop, turning around, and charged towards Guts Man as fast as he could.
It was completely and utterly terrifying. Without any distance to protect him, he could see the behemoth up close and personal, and he began to regret his decision to run toward that thing. There was no stopping now. Hiding his fear behind a mask of rage, he growled and launched the fire storm right at the openings the explosives had created.
With his sudden awareness as to just how dangerous Guts Man was, he wasn't willing to play his usual strategy of stationary offense. No, the second that fire storm was out, he charged another one. And the idea of running towards Guts Man? Forget it. He dropped to the ground and skid across it, hoping to avoid the behmoth's grasp and skid underneath him. He released another fire storm - and another, and another, and another. There was no calmness or rationality to it, simply BURN HIM and DON'T LET HIM TOUCH YOU.
"AH KIN GO ALL WEEK, PARDNER!" Fire Man screamed, his voice full of anger, but if one were listening, one could hear an undertone of fear.
