âThat would be VERY helpful, thank you--â Heâs cut off by the loud meowing of an alleycat, one so old and mangy you couldnât be sure if it got hit by the decay or if it had just lived that long.
His own ears perk, and he watches in that silent back and forth that cats do, before scribbling something down on his notepad.
âWell, sir, I suppose Iâll be taking your card and taking my leave.â
@acerbicursa liked this for a Sansa one-liner!
The officer doesnât blink as he surveys the scene of the disaster, nose twitching with every new scent.
âCould you tell me what you remember about the group of terrorists that attacked Deika City? Any possible political meowtives?â
He fights the urge to meow back at the officer, instead focussing on recalling the story Yotsubashi had recounted to him after the festival. âThere were quite a few of them⊠I heard them shouting something about wanting to rid society of heroes, but my quirk isnât suited to fighting so I took cover while other brave citizens of Deika fought off the attackers. As such, I didnât really see much of the attack itself. You should speak to the other citizens, they probably saw what happened much better than I did. It was quite frightening though, Deika City is usually so safe.â
âYeah, so Iâve heard.â He scratches his head in puzzlement-- with gloves, of course, because people got so WEIRD about paw pads--Â
âWell, sir, I suppose if thatâs all you ny---know, then I guess weâll just go get the same story from everyone else.â It was strange, how despite having to fend off the attackers, almost no one in the damn city could give a single detail.
âWas there anyay security footage that was saved?â

âYouâve gotten your point across.â He huffs, but still goes to order a frappe and a muffin for himself, and a water for them, bringing it back a few minutes later on a tray.
Then, he lays his head on his arms, brows furrowing.
âThe others can do it. I donât know why I canât.â Heâs still lamenting the difference in âmakeâ from his fellow ClassicaLoids- not that they would know that.
âStop comparing yourself to them. Itâs only gonna discourage you.â They grab the water, glancing around to make sure nobody else was watching before they take a few gulps, replacing the mask over their face when theyâre done.
âThe only person you need to worry about beating is the person you were yesterday. Eventually people will start falling behind that, and youâll still have your sights on the goal.â They cleared their throat, and scooted their chair around to face out one of the windows. Water in hand, they watched the crowd passing by.
âNow. Today, what weâre gonna do is threat assessment. The world is a dangerous place. Any moment, shit could go down, and it could come from the most unexpected of places. You need to learn how to react to potential threats at a momentâs notice, and that means preparing for danger to come from less obvious sources. Iâm gonna be pointing out random people passing by, and youâre gonna be assessing their threat level on a scale of one to ten. Be quick about it. Youâre not gonna have time to philosophize when theyâre coming for your ass.â
He straightens his back, drinking as he listens. Threat assessment, huh? He had excellent judgement. He knew exactly what kind of people would aid his cause, and what kind he should avoid. Easy peasy.
âAlright, get on with it.â
âYouâve gotten your point across.â He huffs, but still goes to order a frappe and a muffin for himself, and a water for them, bringing it back a few minutes later on a tray.

Itâs clear from the way he opens his eyes narrowly that heâs annoyed, but he doesnât protest, just sitting back down and grabbing his water bottle to press against his face.
âIâm sorry. It wonât happen again.â He mumbles, making a note to work on this sort of thing in his free time if they insisted on being difficult.
âGive me a second to rest, and we can go find somewhere to regroup and get something to drink.â
âFine. As long as it doesnât involve any more fighting. This was the last time Iâll do that. Weâre going back to business as usual.â They crossed their arms and sunk down into the nearest available flat surface with a mostly suppressed sigh of relief. Truth be told, they were probably just as exhausted if not more, just better at hiding it. They hadnât exactly been very good at taking care of themself, so if this kid, who obviously had about as much energy as any normal kid should, was exhausted, then that meant their self-destructive habits made it that much worse. Probably the only reason they still had the capacity to stand was frankly superhuman stubbornness and spite. Just another reason why they never should have agreed to fight training.
His body should've been able to take more damage- he had seen the other 'loids do so without breaking a sweat. The thought makes his fists curl- just another way he's 'botched', huh?
Forcing himself to his feet, he refuses to take any longer of a break.
"Let's go find a cafe."

âIâm fine.â He insists, from where he sits, propped up against the wall of a building. His eyes remain closed, however, trying to calm his shaking limbs and cool down from the heat that burns through hi whole body, uncomfortable and draining.
âI just need a few seconds. We canât stop. Iâm not almost dead, and I didnât almost die. I just had a temporary lapse in ability.â
He stands suddenly, trying to keep from wobbling with all his might, brows furrowed into a line of determination.
âLetâs try it again.â
quirk-ishâ:
âFine, no food.â He eyed their form for a moment, but shrugged it off internally. He had to worry about his own goals, not a simple request like that.
âSo clothes, hygeine, water- anything else? I can get just about anything.â
âThat should be about it.â They nodded. Honestly accepting this was hard enough on their pride. But they figured if this was what it took to get the kid to stop pestering them, it was worth it. Plus, they could never be too careful about hygiene. The League never did find the most hygienic spots for hideouts. They could stay away a good amount of time, maintain their aloof image, but they did have to show up sometimes, and that meant exposing themself to whatever cesspool of infection had been chosen as a gathering place. One well placed infection and they were as good as dead.
âAlso, Iâd assume that these meetings are secret. Donât want the heroes barging in, after all, and I doubt my coworkers would approve of me tutoring a vigilante.â
"Obviously. Not even Kanae'll know. After all, if this gets sabotaged, we both go down." He stands, returning his backpack to its proper place.
"Will we be meeting here? And what's the schedule?"
quirk-ishâ:
âGreat! I knew youâd understand.â Perfect. Someone who could be easily repaid, who wouldnât get the cops involved, and who wasnât physically âidealâ. Just what he was looking for. Good thing his charity gamble paid off.
âWhen can we start?â
âTomorrow should be alright.â
They considered it lucky that the library had very graciously allowed them to visit unbothered by any heroes. That way they could put together something resembling the base of knowledge they managed to use to get ahead despite extremely subpar physical ability. Hell, maybe this would actually be kinda fun. As long as one thing was established.
âDonât bring food any more. I have that covered.â
