Never cruel or cowardly. Never give up, never give in.

While I was not deeply hurt or offended by little comments that are made, when I was reflecting on this, I honestly thought that I was going to pack it up and go home. It's just another day, right? But then yesterday, Representative Yoho decided to come to the floor of the House of Representatives and make excuses for his behaviour. And that I could not let go. I could not allow my nieces, I could not allow the little girls I go home to, I could not allow victims of verbal abuse and worse to see that – to see that excuse and to see our Congress accept it as legitimate and accept it as an apology, and to accept silence as a form of acceptance. I could not allow that to stand, which is why I am rising today to raise this point of personal privilege. I do not need Representative Yoho to apologize to me. Clearly, he does not want to. Clearly, when given the opportunity he will not. And I will not stay up late at night waiting for an apology from a man who has no remorse over calling women and using abusive language toward women. But what I do have an issue with is using women, wives and daughters, as shields and excuses for poor behaviour. Mr. Yoho mentioned that he has a wife and two daughters. I am two years younger than Mr. Yoho's youngest daughter. I am someone's daughter too.
Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
Where there is risk, there is hope.

Black lives have always mattered. We have always been important, we have always met suffering, we have always succeeded, regardless. And now is the time. I ain’t waiting. I ain’t waiting.
John Boyega
What woman here is so enamoured of her own oppression that she cannot see her heel print upon another woman's face?
Audre Lorde
White feminism is an insidious evil.
Some problems we share as women, some we do not. You fear your children will grow up to join the patriarchy and testify against you; we fear our children will be dragged from a car and shot down in the street, and you will turn your backs on the reasons they are dying.
Audre Lorde
White feminism is an insidious evil.
Unless one lives and loves in the trenches, it is difficult to remember that the war against dehumanization is ceaseless.
Audre Lorde
My silences had not protected me. Your silences will not protect you ... What are the words you do not yet have? What are the tyrannies you swallow day by day and attempt to make your own, until you will sicken and die of them, still in silence?
Audre Lorde
If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favour freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one, or it may be a physical one, or it may be both moral and physical, but it must be a struggle. Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will.
Frederick Douglass
As you grow older, you’ll see white men cheat black men every day of your life, but let me tell you something and don’t you forget it —whenever a white man does that to a black man, no matter who he is, how rich he is, or how fine a family he comes from, that white man is trash.
Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird
I believe that there will ultimately be a clash between the oppressed and those that do the oppressing. I believe that there will be a clash between those who want freedom, justice and equality for everyone and those who want to continue the systems of exploitation.
Malcolm X
I can't breathe.
George Floyd
If you can only be tall because somebody is on their knees, then you have a serious problem. And my feeling is that white people have a very, very serious problem. And they should be thinking about what they can do about it. Take me out of it.
Toni Morrison
I know now I'll die tired, knowing there was more to do. And I'm okay with that, because tired means resistance. Tired means effort. Tired means purpose. Tired means feminism.
Deborah Frances-White, The Guilty Feminist
Listen, if you ask me, you can always find a reason not to do anything. And if there is stuff you want to do ... do that stuff.
Dina, Superstore
I carry them with me. What they would've thought and said and done. Make them a part of who I am. So even though they're gone from the world, they're never gone from me.
