I'm pretty sure Charles is the most hated driver on Twitter. People are horrible to him, even the "specialists". One of them took some random tweet of someone defending Charles to say how much Charles did nothing for Ferrari and Giovinazzi is much more historical. Charles has nothing to do with Le Mans, but everyone decided to hate him out of nowhere (not this weekend, at least since last year), like he was the worst driver and didn't deserve to be on F1. First it was just some random guys, but now he's attacked by fans of every other driver and worse than that, by the commentators, the journalists.
I kinda donāt understand it. Iāve been watching F1 for decades (lolā¦ a glimpse into my age there), and there are few drivers that have generated this level of hate or condemnation. Charles has been known to push the car beyond its limits (not unlike some of the great drivers we know), and sometimes, you get the masterclass that was Baku this yearā¦ or the P4 at the Sakhir layout in 2020 with a shitbox of a carā¦ and sometimes, you get Miami. The result will be as unpredictable as the balance of the car is. Gotta remember that you cannot find the limit if you do not go past it.
I feel like itās all this hype from his rookie season in Ferrari that has mostly gotten him nowhere. Most of the time though, its cuz of a team failure (which, may I remind everyone, he usually refuses to publicly blame them for). Also with all this talk of Max and Charles being childhood rivals finding themselves on the top tier of motorsport, people tend to forget that Max started F1 in 2015, and Charles in 2018 even though theyāre the same age.
But you cannot change their minds anyway, so all those things that Charles actually managed to achieve in spite of Ferrari being Ferrari doesnāt mean anything to them until Ferrari gets their act together and actually help Charles.
I donāt understand the Charles Leclerc slander on twitter after the Le Mans win.
Like, has it escaped their attention that the reason he hasnāt achieved more with Ferrari was that the team has been bottling it for years? Dude has been performing miracles for them, and the F1 team has been negating them with bad race pace and tyre wear and awful strategies. Last year alone, team mistakes lost Charles a chance at a championship, more than his driving errors ever could.
Is it cuz heās been crashing a lot? Which is not unlike Verstappen when he started getting a competitive car. Lewis also made a lot of mistakes before he settled down and started smoking the field and breaking records.
Ferrari had a huge milestone this weekend with the Le Mans win. Charles has nothing to do with it. The F1 team has nothing to do with it. It was a project years in the making. Itās such massive disrespect to the hypercar team and their drivers (BOTH SETS) to single out one person for the achievement, then bring other names in when mentioning their win.
And just to get this off my chest: why drag Marcus Ericsson into some of the discourse? He wasnāt with Ferrari. He is being used to fuel the jokes/slander.
I meanā¦ Iām just gonna say it. If he was re-signed into Sauber/Alfa, or he got another seat with another F1 teamā¦ maybe he wouldnāt be with Ganassi in Indycar to win the Indy500 last year. But he did lose his seat and Charles went on to be Ferrariās 2nd youngest signing. This means nothing apart from the fact that Indycar suits Ericsson more than F1, and that Ferrari put so much trust in Leclerc but has done nothing much to prove it.

sorry if i keep talking about this but here the situation with the flooding and the bad weather is really bad and it's so selfish for some people to think emilia-romagna can host a grand prix this weekend. i'm sorry for all the people who spent money on this but imola grand prix should be cancelled and i don't know why it's taking so long to do it
So the thing is, people keep saying that forecast says there wonāt be rain tomorrow, only a little during the weekend, itās gonna be fine.
Yo. The situation does not reset back to zero when the rain stops. The water wonāt disappear overnight. The responders will still need to be in the devastated areas all through the weekend. And when the rain starts back up on Friday or Saturday or Sunday, itās gonna add to the floodwaters thatās remaining, and the soil will get even more saturated making the land unstable.Ā
Those who want the GP to push through are too short-sighted to see that the effects on the region will continue past the race weekend. I think we can wait one more week for the pitlane to open. Those without homes cannot.Ā Ā

The engineer in me loves seeing the spray off of the cars in wet sessions as it roughly shows how the aerodynamics of the car are working.

Agree the physics grad+engineer side of me has trouble focusing on races sometimes cuz I end up studying the mechanics and the potential strategies rather than just enjoying š¤·š»āāļø
tell me you know nothing about f1 without telling me you know nothing about f1 :
I mean, Iāve lived in the same climate as SG my entire life and Iām used to the heat and humidity. Iāve been going to the gym, trained as a ballerina (mainly) and did a whole slew of other dance styles for more than 30 yearsā¦ and I still look like this after a 2 hr rehearsal or a training session. So Max taking a breather after a race like thatā¦ and after running in the conditions they were inā¦ is very understandable.
Anyone shaming the drivers for being absolutely knackered after the Singapore GP is very welcome to come over to Southeast Asia during the monsoon season when humidity is at at its worst, and run the track for 30 mins straight. Or even 15 minutes. Then try breathing normally after.
Visited home from Europe IN DECEMBER (when it was supposed to be cooler) when I was still studying and when the airport doors opened I literally choked from the humidity. š¤·š»āāļø
