“Echoes of a Distant City”
Amidst the beauty of my homeland,
My heart resides elsewhere,
Left behind in a foreign land,
Yearning for the memories we share.
Though mountains and rivers grace this place,
My mind is consumed with thoughts of afar,
For the love that I seek cannot be replaced,
No matter how stunning the scenery and star.
The echoes of a distant city call,
Like a siren to the depths of my soul,
I cannot refute their song, their thrall,
That has me under its firm control.
So, though my physical form is tethered here,
My heart beats to the rhythms of the unknown,
Fleeing my thoughts to places far and near,
Leaving a part of me forever alone.
