The Garden Pond
I wanted to expand my preformed pond so one weekend I decided to double its size. Digging a hole is fun for thirty minutes, then it becomes back breaking! Very satisfied with the result thought. And at few months later I found a dragonfly nymph shell left on one of the irises.

I am in Malaysia!
I love going away every year and Asia is always a great destination, so this time it’s backpacking in Malaysia.
I am not sure how common it is but upon my plane takeoff I saw a rainbow halo against the clouds. Upon closer inspection, I noticed the the planes shadow was in the centre. It looked beautiful and also magical. 🌈
My first day looking around Kuala Lumpur I was trying to find my bearings as I decided I wanted to try and walk to everything. I managed to get to Merdeka square and up the Menara tower and look around the mini forest at the base.
My second day I went round China town and Little India before I finally went up the Petronas Twin Towers at night. There’s a lot of haze in Malaysia at the moment due the the fires in Indonesia, making space for palm oil plantations. It’s a shame for many reasons not just making visibility incredibly poor but the huge environmental issues it is causing.
Last day before I move on was at the Batu Caves, a short train ride away. It was a challenge to climb so many steep steps in the intense heat but it was truly worth it at the top! The caves are fabulous with a temple inside. I went on a tour to learn about the history of the caves and the wildlife that lives inside. There a monkeys everywhere hoping to be given food. I took a particular liking to the baby monkey who was attempting to climb the tree! 🐒
My trip is now taking me up north where my next stop is the Cameron Highlands

The Forest Of Dean
As I am currently out of mountain biking action whilst I wait (impatiently) for my fractured coccyx to mend, I took Bailey to roam around the forest instead.
After the recent rain, the woodland felt fresh and green. I parked at the bike centre and completely forgot that Bailey was frightened of going over bridges, which one allows access across the main road. After some initial amusement and then reassurance, Bailey cowered slowly over.
We headed towards the sculpture trail and followed it around for a bit but decided we prefer the more rustic paths, so went off exploring and trying not to get lost.
I wish we had more time to walk around so next time we will go deeper into the forest. I love how green and lush it is here and the peacefulness of it all. Luckily no wild boar encounters!
Today I learned about the birds and the bees!
