About Me

The name is Rachelle, or you can just call me Ray! This is a blog where I post about Oreca Battle. I've been in this fandom since 2018 and I'm trying my best to stay active while catching up with the series' lore and news. I also wanna help new fans getting into the series (even if they have no experience playing the arcade game). If you have any Oreca related question, then you can head over to my ask box!

Aside from that I'm also a big fan of Chapter 5, mainly The Azul Pirate and Makai Family/Evil Sea Family.

Please keep in mind that while I do enjoy this series, I will also be sharing my own thoughts/opinions and rambles/rant about the game itself sometimes (nothing too negative of course).

"How do you get into Oreca Battle?"

Long story short I have played the overseas version of the game itself before and watched the anime adaptation, which led me to discovered Oreca Battle's interesting lore and the game's amazing monster illustrations, and then later I read some of the manga before all of the other five titles were released on CoroCoro website, so here I am~! (Sadly ever since 2020, I can no longer play the game after they were removed from my area...)

Though if I'm being honest, Oreca Battle was the main reason why I wanted to learn Japanese (starting from this year), mainly because the Overseas version of this game is no longer being translated officially after it's service ended in March 31st 2022 and all of the other content remains in JP (I'm still learning the basics btw!!)

(I'm actually working on 8 drafts, half of the other are just older drafts that I don't want to delete)

But if I'm being honest, I need to wait for more OB2 Ch5 content before continuing my writing related to Vetch & Mead(+ Truth), especially phase 4 and translations (help-).

I'm also planning to make Chapter 5 videos on YouTube this month, so I might as well need to borrow some footage and Fan-TLs for this. (<- The only reason why I've been holding myself back from making any analysis video there was because phase 1 and 2 were implemented during my finals, so I'm very excited to be able to share my thoughts about Oreca 2 Chapter 5, as well doing comparison between the new and previous MCs & Ice Emperors this month!).

Other than that, I'm still struggling to render Vetch's art, so that may come first before my drafts.

Lastly, please ask me anything related to chapter 5 if you want (mainly from the first game), that's all

Stage Hijack

A meme drawing that was supposed to be a simple sketch ended up being fully rendered LOL (Vetch, I hope you're happy that I'm still spoiling you like this, especially you, Mead. <- which I'll be talking about him later when I have time)

I feel so guilty that I keep ditching this drawing mainly because of drawing the props, background and rendering the whole thing, this took about 40+ hours or almost a month in real time (20% of the time was just me having art block, 80% was just me thinking about Deltarune chapter 5)

also note that for "fake" and "real thing", what Tune's saying out loud (furigana) is slightly different than the kanji actually displayed. 実像 and 虚像 are specifically about images, like the view a mirror shows you.

plus at 16:03, 16:47, and 17:47, look between EE Mead and Artist Vetch's EX animations. the camera shots are different, but arent some things the same, like the background and especially the movements/poses they make? and of course they're doing the same thing but in opposite directions.

as to whats with the mentions of "real" and "fake",

the fan letter segment has something interesting too. the answer to "where is Mead's mouth?" was

Well, of course mouths are on faces, right? But sensing sound is also possible from the neck, chest, and crown of the head!

so does that mean Mead doesnt have a mouth because the upper half of his body is a microphone speaker? and character design-wise he looks mechanical because hes based off of an vintage one?

Why did I agreed to do a full body drawing of him this month?

Ray rambling about the Ice Demon Emperor's domains

So few months ago on Twitter/X, I pointed out Mead's BOSS Stage is the same Ice temple that Krzeska used to lived in, which isn't the first time they reuse the old stage from OB1 for the new Demon Emperor in the sequel (like Herradura, his domain is the exact same stage as Laphroaig and Purgatory Ares' Stage, mainly because Ch4 is now invaded/inhabited by Demons in OB2)

Today, Demon Emperor Mead has been added to the Oreca 2 Monster Guide website, which mean we can now view his description, however...I really can't help but notice something. (-rough translations-)

"The Demon Emperor with an unparalleled voice. The song that echoes from the Castle of Mirrors calls for winter, causes a blizzard to dance, and freezes the hearts of those who hear it."

鏡の城 (Kagami no shiro) "Mirror Castle"

So this raise some questions, if his description says the Mirror Castle then...why is he at the Ice Temple in the first place?

For those who don't know, this is what the Ice Temple's description on the App version of Oreca (rough TL):

Ice Temple

"The sudden appearance of this crystal splendor in the harsh ice plains must surely make visitors think, "Is this the afterlife?" In fact, I felt that very thought before the first attack. But contrary to its beauty, the temple offers nothing. The floor, with its diamond-like brilliance and hardness, crushes the dreams of grave robbers."

If we think about it...what if the Ice temple was rebuilt 10 years later after the event from the first game? Because I remembered it was destroyed during Azul's fight with Krzeska and it was shown in the manga.

Do note the story from the game and manga are different because in the manga the Ice Temple was destroyed TWICE. The first time it happened was when Grand Blue Dragon helped Azul, which caused Krzeska to be buried under it for years (and we can assumed it was only destroyed once during Demon King Azul's fight with Krzeska in the game) so could it be possible that it was rebuilt by Mead years later?

Or perhaps the Ice Temple was renamed to Mirror Castle in OB2 because the walls and it's floor with "diamond-like brilliance and hardness" reflect like a mirror? One of the main theme of Chapter 5 in Oreca Battle 2 is about Mirror/Reflection, so maybe that's why they renamed it after Mead claimed it(?)

If that's not the case then...is that really Demon Emperor Mead's real domain? Considering it's a Mirror Castle, it should be a different stage too, like a big castle that's made out of mirror, right? (<- this is one of my issues with reusing old BOSS stage from the first game, because there's a small chance it doesn't match with the monster's actual description about what their domain are like). Unless, Mead just hangs out at the the Ice Temple as his BOSS stage whenever he want, and the Mirror Castle is actually somewhere else.

Though I heard from someone's comment that Krzeska wasn't the only one who lived there (and said there's even a hint Beelzebub was inhabiting it before Krzeska in the old Oreca game), but the main problem with that is that I couldn't find this information anywhere so I'm not fully sure about it...

Guess we have to wait for the answers to come in the future.

here is my attempt at translating Sin Haya's temporary version of the lyrics to Demon Emperor Mead's theme song. i think it's more "reliable" because they were written down with the help with people commenting on this video of his. i marked parts Sin Haya personally wasnt sure about by surrounding them with ()? .
