Lately what's gotten me out on regular walks has been Pokemon Go. I have like three shiny Porygons!
Signed up for a free virtual run 5k from a race that I did a few times and enjoyed it. I'll probably go out and do the same route that the race puts on just for old times sake.
Went out for more 2 min walk/jog intervals. Lasted about 3.5 miles which isn't bad considering my usual is more like 1 or 2. It is really nice that the heat is finally breaking and we have some windy/cloudy days, I always like running in them better than super hot ones.
Did an ab workout video then decided I really needed to get my butt back into running. So I eased back into it with 50 minutes of alternating 2 minute walk/jog intervals. Feeling tired but extremely happy I went out.
Half of the fun of figuring out how people take pictures on a solo run was looking through all of them after. 😂
8 miles @ 11:30 min/mile (1,900’ elevation)
Just a reminder: A short run is better than no run. A slow run is better than no run. A bad run is always better than no run.
Trying to force myself out of that funk where I feel like if I can't go out and crush six miles why bother. Which has turned into tiny little jogs whenever I feel like, which feels pretty good right now.
Finally figuring out that I can find a stick poking out of the ground and use my headphones to hold my phone to the stick. Also this view was insane from the top of Burnout Trail.
I obviously haven't been very active on here in a while. Last year I went balls to the wall for my ultra and right after I jumped into full time school plus work, and running took a backseat (I was burning out anyway). Now, having had a break, I've been doing some short runs and dealing with the fact that I am a LOT slower than I used to be. I'm working now on just accepting that and getting out for those short runs that can eventually be worked into longer and longer runs.
The break was desperately needed!
