soft spoken words and a joint passed between the two of you. surrounded by stars, sand and silence, the only light being the occasional flickering of a lighter. the taste settling on the back of your tongue. lay back on the sands, so soft, warm and inviting. let them hold you, hold your partner. you can watch the sun set and rise all in the span of what feels like minutes.

Every day feels the same out here. They all blur into eachother, there is no night and day. It's just dark and light, phases in one long day. It's hard to sleep, hard to do much of anything. You fall into a weird rhythm. An irregular one. The only indication that time is passing and things are changing is your fading hair dye and the way that sometimes your clothes stop fitting the way they used to.

To disappear, alone, out into the wasteland we call the Zones is a walk to your death.

It's choosing to lose pieces of yourself to the sands, fall apart and crumble like a puzzle until you're a walking corpse, a ghost. To eventually melt into sand yourself.

Memories of you will be pulled from the heads of everyone who knew you and loved you and you will cease to ever exist. The last and only face you'll remember is that of the Phoenix Witch, her hand outstretched to you after you wander the sands for a little too long.

Do not travel alone through the Zones without a destination.

please don't go, please don't go, don't leave. you're all i have out here, we need to stick together we need to stick together. i don't wanna hear your name on the radio in a few days. please just sit here on the warm sand with me for a little longer.

the dark greenish-brown hue of their eyes and the way they study everything they do, everything they look at. the kind of eyes that always glitter, reflect the sun perfectly. they're more green in the sunlight, i've noticed.

only inches between us, our eyes meeting as the orange light filtered through the filthy windshield, and they looked just like an angel. the way the sunlight rested on their brown hair, the way it danced through the dust and dirt in the air, it was almost like they wore a halo.

october. the suffocating warmth of the desert is accompanied by his muse, who comes in the form of an occasional cool breeze, just enough to blow your hair into your eyes and make you miss that shot during target practice. the paint and makeup shelves at tcms have been emptied. clothes are being torn and sewed together into something new, an attempt at a costume other than your normal attire. whispers of the haunted hospital have started again, though nobody's truly brave enough to go near it. speak of ghouls and ghosts is through the roof, though it almost always is.

october is a sluggish month in the zones. no change and a lack of excitement. october and her cool breeze makes you want to crawl into your room and come out when it's over.

though maybe it's only like this for the ghosted. i bet the zone rats that are still breathing have a blast in the sands.

Sometimes it feels like I was dusted a long time ago, somehow ghosted by somebody other than myself. A pale figure, a whisp doomed to wander the sand alone. A creature searching endlessly for another soul to come along and make me solid again. I just float between places and people, never truly belonging, and never truly staying. Bouncing between realities and tightly woven people. I do not belong here.

The Light Behind Your Eyes. A note written by Poison to the Girl. Written on a torn out page of s small notebook, covered in mysterious stains and rips. Crumpled up and shoved into one of their extra jacket pockets. G found it a few weeks after they were all dusted at BLi.

Lately I've dreamt of fields. Fields of tall grass and flowers bobbing on stems in light breeze, barefoot adventuring and colourful flower crowns, hastily woven and pieced together and placed on your head. Laughing and dancing in the wind, swaying and holding each other close, clinging to one another. Raw emotion and love, overflowing and spilling out of you as you spin, your smile never leaving your face. While I know there's no fields, no grass out here, It doesn't make me sad, it's a happy daydream. You learn to dream when your only companion is the desert. So for now, we'll continue to be dreamers in the sand, weaving stories and sharing daydreams with each other.

I want a killjoy lover. Someone to smoke on a torn up mattress with, to hold me despite the radiation beatin' down on us. Someone to talk to after the end of the world, a partner in the wasteland. Co-pilot, my fellow adventurer in the sand. To sit on roofs and stargaze with, gazing up at the twinkles, like holes poked in a piece of tarp wrapped around the part of the desert that belongs to only us.
