I’m tired of having the same damn conversation.

Whenever I or any other aroallo person talks about our own identities, someone inevitably chimes in with “as long as everyone’s consenting!”

It’s the exact same argument every time.

“I support gay people, as long as they’re not harassing straight people in locker rooms.”

“I support trans people, as long as they’re not tricking cis people into sex.”

“I support aroallo people, as long as they’re not leading alloromantic people on.”

Why is it always the responsibility of the marginalized person to add a disclaimer that they’re “one of the good ones?” Why do you need to double-check that we know what consent is, every single time? Why is it exclusively the responsibility of the marginalized person to come out to potential sexual partners, instead of expecting the cis/straight/allo person to communicate what they want?

I need y’all to learn the patterns. Recognize this rhetoric. Quit treating the queer identity of the week like we’re predators by default.

i am so serious when i say dark and quiet are both human rights.

i don't mean like absolute silence. obviously in an ideal community, there would still be sound and noise from people and music and work etc. but it haunts me that when i camp in the forest i can hear the howl of semi trucks on the interstate miles away. and the people who live beside it never know quiet. it haunts me that many people will live their whole lives never seeing the stars in the sky that were fully visible with NO electric light pollution as recently as my great-grandparents' childhoods.

so much of our lives is bright bright unnecessary noise. neon mcdonalds signs 200 feet in the air so we can see it from the road. led lights over billboards. parking lots lit up like sports stadiums at closed office buildings. advertisements playing at gasoline pumps. streets lined with led porch lights and decorative garden lights that genuinely threaten entire species of wildlife. music blaring outside pharmacies to deter homeless people. everything always shining and wailing for no purpose but profit and cruelty.

obviously not everything can be turned off or made quiet and i wouldn't want it to be anyway and there is a lot of nuance and room for "but what about" here, but MANY things HAVE to change because none of us are supposed to live like this and we shouldn't have to!!!

It sucks there seems to be a concerted effort to distance the transfem and transmasc communities from each other. If it weren’t for trans women, I probably wouldn’t have realized I was trans until much later in life.

The cis women in my life were so miserable in their womanhood, I thought that misery was normal. Seeing trans women actually love and fight to be seen as women made me question my own misery

one of these days they're going to get a fucking earful the casual blatant transphobia and the five year old kid running up and down the entire street (in a pedestrian zone, thank fuck) hitting up strangers and giving out Bibles was just too much too much he talked to me while I was on a smoke break outside the school perimeter and I went with him to a) find his parents or other adults and b) find out where tf the fuck he was coming from

they got a talking to by some city officials because the mother was neglecting her supervisory duties by letting him do that all over a very busy avenue in a pedestrian zone while being completely engrossed in 1 on 1 talks. of COURSE they took it as them having an issue with him distributing Bibles*. "Ooh. Right. but in this society a five-year-old can decide he wants to be a girl. THAT he can know. Sure." Right next to me. I told him he could take his transphobia and shove it. Christ almighty (yeah literally) I'm still shaking with .. everything. *which they had, because he was five years old and he and his enthusiasm were being used by fucking Pentecostals but that wasn't the part they had any leverage on. when his mom told him he couldn't do that any more (or fuck knows WHAT exactly she told him, I didn't hear) he started crying.
