Rhiannon Brooker accused her former boyfriend of rape and assault. Her accusations against Paul Fensome landed the man in jail for 37 days. While imprisoned, someone claimed that he was a pedophile…

Alibis, evidence from Fensome’s (the accused male) phone and his work shift patterns undermined Brooker’s accounts. Injuries were judged to have been self-inflicted and the police dropped their investigations into Fensome and turned their attention on Brooker.

Brooker initially told police she had made false accusations. But when she was charged with perverting the course of justice she retracted her confession. She was found guilty of 12 offences relating to false allegations of five rapes, six assaults and one false imprisonment.

The judge sentenced Brooker to three and a half years, which prompted outrage from feminists:

The support and campaign group Women Against Rape (WAR) was among more than a dozen organisations and lawyers who wrote to the judge arguing that a harsh sentence would put women off coming forward to report rapes for fear they would not be believed.

They wrote: “The prosecution was not in the public interest. A prison sentence will put even more women off reporting, enabling even more attacks from violent men. The resources spent on prosecuting Ms Brooker should have been put into prosecuting rapists and other violent men.”

First off if you want proof look at how people are treating Iris West and just the announcement that she’s being played by another black woman in the flash movie they’re making. Another Example is the whole #blackstormtropper thing that happened because white men were pissed that Finn was played by a black man in the Force Awakens, one of them even said to boycott the movie cause “we shouldn’t see our white women defiled by a black storm trooper

And let’s go to video games since this applies there as well. Look at how white fans brought up that the Witcher 3 series shouldn’t have People of Color because it’s based around medieval Sweden or however they phrased it. Even though the game has Djinn and witches and Werewolves, but black and Asian people is where history and realism have to kick in right?

Point 1 How Iris West is being treated: Iris shouldn’t be played by a black woman, just like Amanda Waller shouldn’t be played by a white woman or jubilee by a latino girl. Point 2 Some white men on the internet were racist about finn: Congratulations you found some racists, the movie was a monumental success (I loved it) which means that was an (Ironically) minority position. Is your end game for no one to ever be racist ever? That will not happen. Point 3: Some people didn’t think the witcher three should have POC or whatever they said: If you can’t be bothered to actually relay the arguments made I don’t feel inclined to accept it as evidence of a major problem. There is 1 Dijnn in the witcher three in an optional mission it is one small part of a far off culture’s mythology and witches and werewolves (as used in the witcher) are of western european culture just like the rest of the lands you explore in that game. It could be argued that the inclusion of large portions of asian and dark skinned characters could ruin the immersion. I wouldn’t make that argument but it’s not fair to insist anyone who does is a racist. Final thought: Have you considered you’re the reason you don’t see more representation? Articles on how many lesbian characters are killed, every black and black “Coded” character scrutinized for any potential racism. Who the hell would want to write for characters like that if all they can expect either way is to be called a racist, maybe people are sick of trying to please the unpleaseable.
