@radicfree-blog
Sorry for the silence, I’ve been a little under the weather and I’m sure the wildfire smoke today has been doing a number on my head since my family doesn’t quite understand what an air quality advisory is.
So, who’s going to take one for the team and make another settlement leader so I can have Copeland fight with negotiate with them?
Rules post because I’m dash only atm and too lazy to deal with theme setup right now. I’ll try to keep these to the point.
- First off, you can call me Rory. I’m 24, and I use she/her or they/them pronouns. I do suffer from some mental illnesses, namely depression and anxiety, which effect how often I’ll be on/how available I’ll be ooc. If I appear distant or I’m not on at all, that’s likely the reason outside of general offline stuff.
- This ISN’T a spoiler-free blog. If you’re currently playing the game or are planning to pick it up, but are sensitive to spoilers, I’d avoid following. However, I will be tagging spoilers for a month or two after this game’s release. I will use the ’ /// spoilers ’ tag for writing, and a general game spoiler tag for any content I may reblog, simply to keep my writing out of the tag where I can.
- This is a selective and private blog, meaning I’ll only write with mutuals. However, I’m pretty lenient with the askbox and non-mutuals can leave asks through that, but my selectivity is still in play in that I may not answer everything put in there if I don’t have muse for it, I can’t answer it for whatever reason, or it makes me uncomfortable.
- I write in a semi-para style, and can do novella if there has been enough plotting beforehand. I’m also willing to do one-liners, but I have a problem keeping them that way, as I get stuck easily with something that short and vague. I also tend to use icons, though I may not always as I only have access to in-game footage and I haven’t found a fc for this guy yet.
- I feel that I should also note that mun =/= muse. Copeland is in a survival situation, he’ll do or may do things that I don’t agree with. He’s said things I don’t agree with.
- General rp rules apply—control your own characters (minor godmodding I’m fine with, and I don’t mind lands hitting when fighting to a reasonable degree), don’t assume ooc knowledge is ic knowledge unless your character personally knows Copeland, etc.
- Pre-established stuff is fine with me, our first interaction doesn’t have to be our muses’ first. However, romantic relationships may be rare and need to be discussed with me beforehand.
- This blog may be 18+ a points, mostly in violence, language, and content. Smut is rare for me and doesn’t happen often, but I will not write it out with people who are under 18. Period. No discussion.
- This blog, for now, is on low activity. I have other blogs that I tend to spend most of my time on, which you’re free to ask for, and offline life can be pretty busy at points. Also, university will be coming back into play in a couple months, so that will take top priority once that comes around as well. I’m also just a slow rper in general, it takes me a while to get to asks/threads because I’m easily distracted and I want to make sure things sound ic before posting. Please be patient with me.
- I won’t tolerate guilt tripping and rude behavior, that will get you blocked/soft blocked. I also don’t reblog c/allout posts and ooc drama. I can only tolerate ooc drama for so long before I unfollow.
- I have a d/iscord available for mutuals. Feel free to ask for it!
- If you have any questions, don’t be scared to message me.

nctbitten (???):
BUSTED!
she knew she wasn’t being as quiet as usual, but clementine thought that the noise outside, from the walkers, would be enough DISTRACTION. she was wrong. still, she wouldn’t just come out with her hands up in the air — that was a rookie mistake and she was no beginner. she did come out in the open, but her weapon was drawn and she had him in her aim.
surrendering was never her style. ❝ i don’t want this to be a problem either, so… lower your gun and i’ll lower mine! ❞
His hands gripped tighter to his weapon as she stepped out so he could see her better—weapon raised at him, his own not wavering as she did so. He wasn't one to hand out his TRUST all that easily, wandering on his own wasn't exactly ideal, but it made him weary of other people. Things were different now, the laws that governed a society that was now collapsed were being tossed aside—something he'd done himself, too. Still, she...well, she was pretty young. He didn't want to underestimate anybody at this point, but he wasn't looking to injure or kill a kid if he had a say in the matter.
So, he let out a slow breath through his nose before he decided to play by her rules, dropping his aim before raising his free hand slightly.
“Glad we agree,” he muttered, “and that you didn't shoot at me instead. Thanks. I already got cornered into here, last thing I need is to deal with more of those freaks...”
What was Copeland before the world went to shit? What was his job?
Character Development Questions – always accepting
@765daysgone
He’ll tell you he was a radio host—andhe still is, much to the annoyance of many people, but that actuallydidn’t become so much of a thing until about two months before theoutbreak and after once he had settled into his own camp. Before theoutbreak, he wasn’t doing too much profession wise, he kind of tookwork where he could get it, but he often found himself working withmore hands-on jobs than sitting behind a desk. Did some wood working and some house repair here and there, dabbled a bit in car repair for a short bit but itdidn’t go too far. Given his nature and heavy distrust of thegovernment, he definitely wasn’t working for the state and kepthimself rather local.
However, eventually, he started tobecome more vocal about his political beliefs and views on the stateof the world—he claims to have known that the freakers and thecollapse of society was coming, but it’s hard to believe that he’sgenuine about that, considering how he twists facts and events to fithis own narrative. Yet, it wasn’t that alone that caused him to starthis radio show, it was more of a personal interest and his want topreach, but it never supported him financially. It was more of ahobby.
765daysgone (Deacon.):
Deacon felt relieved hearing Copeland’s voice. So he wasn’t dead. Not yet anyway. Still, what he had to say was w o r r y i n g. Rippers? That wasn’t good to hear Not at all. Goddamn psychopaths. He continued to ride down the road, accelerating whenever he got too close to a small group of swarmers. He then answered Copeland,
“Alright. Hang in there. I’ll find you… by the sound of it your close to a horde. If you got any bandages, p r e s s u r i z e the bleeding and keep out of sight.”
It was a bit of a ways from where he was, but Deacon sped up to try to get there in time,
“If you can, talk to me Cope. Give me a private s h i t t y broadcast from your radio free Oregon shit so I at least know your awake. You need to stay awake. Understand?”
“I know some basic first aid, St. John,” he returned, his tone a little clipped, but it didn't quite sound like his heart was in it.
Couldn't exactly BLAME him for being a bit distracted—a horde. If he wandered too close and was bleeding a little too much, and he'd be gone before he even had a chance. He knew that abandoning the bike was a stupid move, but he also knew that stopping the blood and wrapping up the wound was likely more important. Really, the whole situation was making him sweat a little, much as he tried not to show it. There was quite a bit of blood—couldn't have been worse than what happened to his face all those years back, but having that memory mixed in with his current situation wasn't great. Still, he removed the bandage from his pocket as he continued to walk away from the bike, listening to make sure he wasn't getting closer to the Freakers. Still, he decided to wrap it around the outside of his shirt, knowing it would soak up the blood and the bandage would add more pressure. Pressing a hand against his side, teeth gritting at the pain that shot up his side, Copeland became aware of Deacon speaking again.
Situating himself against a tree, he kept his gaze ahead of him for any movement. He was well aware of the growling and screeching, taking a moment to collect just what Deacon was asking of him before he spoke down into the radio again.
“I'm as awake as I can possibly be. Never seen a horde up close and I'm not lookin' to experience that right now...” he commented, “Those rippers... All my men dropped like flies once they rode in, cornered us in a room and ripped a bullet through my side. Looked to have wanted to do worse, if the damn torch was anythin' to go by. They're usually not down this far, Iron Mike's got the issue with 'em, but apparently they're mine now too...”
Great. Still, that was something he'd have to deal with when he wasn't stuck between the rock and a hard place of bleeding out in the middle of the woods and letting his horde rip him apart.
“I also don't think me bleedin' out in the middle of the woods is a good time to swap politics, but I'll make sure to get you a 'shitty' broadcast soon.”

765daysgone (Deacon.):
The Mongrel Drifter was riding with boozer to Lost Lake Farm to give his best friend a ride to work when he got the call. Boozer leaned forward from where he sat on the motorbike, c u r i o s i t y getting the best of him,
“Hey, I think that’s Copeland…”
Deacon was about to answer when Boozer stated the obvious. He quickly piped up over the hum of the bike,
“I h e a r him Boozer!”
He then answered the distress call. He wouldn’t l i e, Copeland sounded like shit. it was worth checking out,
“Deacon to Copeland, over. Where are you? You at the camp? What’s going on over there? Over.”
He pulled over a little ways from the farm so Boozer could walk the short distance. He didn’t want Schizo to chew him out again for taking Boozer on another run, let alone take it out on Boozer.
**
On Copeland’s end the sound of howls and grunts alerted him that he wasn’t alone. Freakers. Enough to overwhelm him by the sound of it. Again Deacon’s voice sounded from the radio,
“Copeland! Come in, over!”
He needed to get this wound taken care of, and quick.
The blood loss was concerning, he wasn't starting to feel too great on top of this whole mess. However, he knew those freaks could smell it. Might as well ring a dinner bell if he let it continue to bleed and soak through his clothing, and the noises he was hearing from near by was starting to confirm that. Still, there wasn't too much he could do in the moment. Deacon's voice filtered in through the radio, Copeland ignoring it for now as he started to dig through the box strapped to the back of the bike, letting out a heavy exhale as he could feel the pressure starting to cloud his focus. He needed his head clear, he let anxiety filter in around the edges and he could be dead before he could barely ask for help.
“Deacon,” he returned as he heard his voice come through the radio again, more persistent, “Listen, I'm not at camp. Got myself into a situation with some Rippers—I'm hurt somethin' pretty bad. I...”
Shit—shit, how far out was he? He could hear more noises behind him as he tucked some supplies into his pockets, including some bandages. The bike was still good, but with his mind starting to swim a bit, he wasn't sure how long he'd be able to drive it. Still...well, he wasn't too far out from camp, but it wasn't within walking distance, that was for sure. With the Rippers still about and could be following after him...
He picked up his weapon, starting to move around a little to see what he could catch through the trees, much as he felt like half his body was on fire.
“I can't lead these bastards back to camp, so I need a hand out here. I can hold off the freakers for a while but those Rippers find me...well, it won't be good. I'm a little ways out from a military base south of camp.”

“So, what's your story? Who sent you?”
Typical questions he asked when dealing with new faces, but they usually weren't asked with such tension and suspicion. Really, his fuse was running SHORT, especially when dealing with a camp that was trying to recover from some recent attacks and unfortunate events. Avoiding further loss and injury was in his best interest and he wasn't too sure what to make of the man.
“I have to be real honest, I'm getting' tired of drifters ripping through my camp thinkin' they can murder whoever and steal whatever they want. You don't look like one I've seen, but I've been fooled before. So, you want to be here? Let's see if you'll follow our rules.”
765daysgone:
“Home? Home is where Carlos says home is…. we travel like the free and nest where we are told to nest. There is no home lost…. there is only nature…. we can show it to you…. show you the truth.”
One of the rippers grinned and stepped forward. One of Copeland’s men then glanced to the side and discreetly nudged Copeland in the direction of a broken window. He tried not to make it obvious, but one of the rippers saw and shot the man in the face.
Copeland’s men instantly returned fire. The the sound of gun fire echoed around. Another one of Copeland’s guys pushed Copeland toward the window, but then screamed as he was shot in the leg. He fell to one knee and cried out, “Run you idiot!”
Another two more shots echoed, one toward the injured man and the next toward Copeland. The bullet with Copeland’s name on it managed to land its mark, but not make the kill the shooter had intended. The window was just a little ways from Copeland…. he could make it…
He just had to be fast enough.
Chaos had erupted so quickly at that simple gesture. He barely had time to register just what the man beside him was nudging him toward before he had been shot in the head. Stumbling back a few steps, Copeland had raised his own weapon toward the Rippers as gunshots filled his ears, a slight ringing building up in the confined space. However, he didn't get the chance to fire back—and likely sign his own death certificate, if this whole run was anything to go off of. He stumbled slightly as he felt a pair of hands shove him toward the window, barely able to register the man's last words before he was dead and Copeland was jerking back as pain ripped through his side.
He let out a pained shout, weighing his chances for a few seconds as he fought the urge to lock up at the pain of the gunshot. He turned, raising his weapon and fired off a couple shots toward the Rippers before he used the moment to shoulder his way out of the window. It was a short fall, landing harshly on his good shoulder before he gathered himself up and made his way toward the bikes. He used the buildings and structures as cover, sneaking his way out toward the bike as he tried not to think too much about the casualties in the moment. He debated on the noise of the bikes for a few moments once he had gotten there before deciding to coast it out toward the road silently. A new pain blossomed as he strained his injury, causing him to clench his teeth painfully to keep himself from yelling out. Still, he got onto the bike once he was out far enough and took off, his chest burning as he tried to get his barrings.
He wasn't sure how badly he was injured just yet, despite the pain—though, the fact that he was still alive was at least one good sign out of all of this. Still, with the ringing in his ears, he knew he may not be able to ride back too far. He had his radio on him, Copeland reaching down for it as he slowed some off a main road. He could call back to camp, get a number of them to come out to meet him and take out anybody who could be following, but losing more people...what a damn mess this was turning out to be. However, there was another option. He pulled the bike off into some trees, stopping to press a hand against the wound, blood starting to show through his shirt.
“Can't believe I'm doin' this...” he muttered softly as he removed his hand from his side to switch the channel before speaking down into the radio. He tried to keep the shakiness from his voice, but the strain wasn't hard to miss. “St. John, this is Copeland. It's an emergency. Come in.”
