I’m not posting this on the person’s post, because personal tragedies, didn’t ask for my opinion, all that.

But in short, Chinese Princess, in the land of atheist eugenicists and girls doing everything, because China, tells her not-a-husband she doesn’t want to have his biological child.  

And gets exactly as dumped as a Gilieadite fertile woman who tells her husband she doesn’t want to have his genetic kid. 

How are Gilead and China the same here?  They agree on nothing, except what will get a man to instantly drop you?

Honestly, I don’t think I could could get away with that here in Cascadia.

I have excellent taste, I just haven’t been primed to weep like a five year old who dropped their ice cream whenever they start playing “I Left My Heart in San Fancisco”.  Which they do often and with great relish.   

There should be a rule against using “I left My Heart in San Francisco” to make Cascadians cry.  Also, “California Dreaming”.  It’s somewhat less than sporting.  Not even shooting fish in a barrel, more hitting the barrel with a rocket-propelled grenade.

It is a great minor-key cover, one that I imagine as having been created by a team of crack musicians and psychologists conspiring to create a literal crying bomb that could be used to incapacitate civilian populations.

Is it too late for new year’s resolutions?

Because I was talking to a boy and I bit my tongue about something and I realized that I didn’t want to, it was just habit.  

I want to be more open about my feelings, and what it’s like in Cascadia, and what the differences have been like for me..  

Because honestly, my instinct is to not.   You know, sometime I imagine everyone I love magically transported to a tropical beach far from the authorities that scare me, and then I’d just say whatever I wanted all the time.

But that seems unlikely to happen.

The Gileadite government doesn’t know either of those things and it is not going to know either of those things. (Unless I’m really unlucky, I guess, and then I’m going to be in prison and not get to escape at all, but I’m happy with my current level of risk.)

I know, it’s your life.  And I really just meant it might be better to find a doctor who can be bribed into saying that your fertility just...naturally reached its end, rather than daring them to find a way to come after you.

They’re just...nasty.  Arresting people at tearooms and getting them to turn on each other to avoid ending up in the papers, pretending to be vulnerable young things online so they can go after the help they’re pointed towards.  People have ‘accidents’.   

It makes everyone paranoid and I hate it.

Why were you talking to Eyes?

I spoke to the Eyes because they came around to my Aunt’s house after a neighbourhood handmaid ran away.  (I have no doubt that they came back after I hopped the border to Cascadia-and I am genuinely sorry that I put my aunt and my uncle through that-I planned my escape on my own, and I told them nothing.)  

It’s important to keep your wits about you if you ever have to talk to the authorities.  There are some really good videos on the topic, I recommend Never Talk to the Police and How to Talk Without Saying Anything-though you shouldn’t be watching either video in a public place, and depending on how aggressive your local law enforcement/how many strikes you already have against you, maybe you shouldn’t be downloading them without installing some basic privacy measures.
