i remember going to my gp about my anxiety and feeling depressed and she turned around and said “it’s because something bad happened to you, but you’ll get over it”. i don’t think that’s how it works when you’re crying out for help and luckily i got to speak to my family doctor who knew our situation but even so i was so fragile and i cried for weeks after that and i reckon had i been a tiny bit more fragile i wouldn’t have made it through so gps should really understand how much courage it takes for someone to go in and talk to them and they shouldn’t just dismiss them.
