I can see Chimera as a teen being secretly terrified of getting close to Rouge (at first) in fear of it being like he’s replacing Maria as his older sibling or something.

I’m actually having a blast trying to develop Chimera Shadow in his Teen Years. How different he was + what things shaped him into being who he is now.

Older Chimera and Runt AU animatic I forgot to post (you can tell because of the unfortunate Kinemaster watermark lmao) never posted it because wasn’t a fan of the inconsistencies but looking back it’s not as bad as I thought lol.

Ok so context! With Eclipse, Shadow is now in an older brother position like Maria was to him. At first he doesn’t know what he’s doing so he hesitantly goes to Sonic for advice because he raised Tails. Eclipse and Shadow are very close in this AU, Eclipse almost like his Tails essentially. But one day, when Eclipse is a young adult, he discovers his origins and there’s a HUGE rift between them, with Eclipse joining what is left of the Black Arms in a misguided attempt to find who he is, turning to the “dark side” if you will. Shadow goes to Sonic again, but he doesn’t say anything… Sonic can tell something is very wrong here.

Things DO end well thankfully. But it’s rather bittersweet. Eclipse leaves Earth, now the leader of the Black Arms on a mission to fix the wrongs their species caused. Reforming them pretty much. They say their tearful goodbyes and he’s off, promising his brother he’ll come back and visit one day.

Happens when Shadow and Maria have a heart to heart.

Shadow admits that he’s starting to forget things and that his mind is becoming fuzzy, he doesn’t know what’s happening to him and nobody will tell him. He’s afraid he’ll forget her too. Not only that, but Gerald and other scientists are now forbidding him and Maria from seeing eachother starting tomorrow, something about him being “dangerous and unstable”.

Maria gives him her music box. Something her parents gave her before she had to be put on the ark.

Although they are separated, this isn’t the last time they see eachother. Maria would sneak around to see him again, very regularly. but one day she doesn’t come back.
