candice-rivers.
Candiceâs eyebrows raised in mock surprise when he pulled back the barrel of his gun, her lips parting into a mirthless smirk. âOh your gun wasnât cocked? Because mine has been.â Okay so she was scared now. The sound of the barrel clicking still made the hairs on the back of her neck raise, after all these months. But she could bluff, oh could Candice bluff. Two could play this game after all, a game of swagger and bravado.Â
As he stepped closer every instinct in her was screaming to take a step back, perhaps take many steps all the way out the door but some selfish part in her was somehow willing to die for this space. How could that be? This was just a cabin. But when she had found it, she had fixed the generator and after months of living in filth and grime she had finally had a hot shower and it had been heaven. She got too stir-crazy living in the Capitol with all the people around all the timeâŚCandice wasnât giving this place up. âSo do whatever you want, I donât care. Just give me my shower back and put the stupid gun down.â It seemed almost casual, the way she said it. Casual, when her heart was racing and her neck was coldâŚ
he laughs at the girl, watching as fear glossed over her eyes, despite the act she putting on. â why didnât you shoot first then? â he asks, eyebrow raised in question, almost like he was taunting her. he had been like her before, scared but not weak enough to show it. he gave her props, but that wasnât going to get her anywhere in this situation.
he takes several steps back, pushing the barrel forward again and laying it down beside his belongings. he had spent days searching for a place to stay, if just for a few hours, she was crazy to think he would just give it up to her. he proceeded to walk over to the shower, despite the lack of curtain and cleanliness, it was working. he turned on the faucet, letting the water fall down.Â
he turns to her suddenly, pulling his shirt over his head. â iâm not sure about you, but, â he glances at the shower and back at her, âunless you plan on joining, youâre going to be here a while. â her choice, he thinks. but either way, he wasnât going to let up, no matter how hard she tried. â donât think youâre the only one who gets to enjoy nice things, beautiful. â
