The turn this took was so sharp, Charlie could swear she just got whiplash. That whiplash could, in fact, have just been him snagging her shirt and yanking her forward, but with everything happening in the snap of his optics powering, who was she to tell? Gaping up with a gasp, her first reaction is to claw at the automaton’s wrist, teeth gritting.
Her salvation? Her biggest mistake? There wasn’t nearly enough time to unpack all of that right now, let alone argue like the smartass she was. How can he be my mistake when I didn’t even make him?! Charlie winces at the metallic knuckles dragging against her collar, mindful of her volume despite the clear, imminent danger she was in. Better her alone than her family or some curious neighbor. Deep breaths, Charlie!
Panic flashes, flight going to fight as quick as he was to grab at her collar. A writhe and she’s barred her teeth like a dog, brows pinched and furrowed.
“ Let me go! “ she demands, another willful writhe of her body giving to wrench herself away from his grasp. Think quick, Charlie! She sucks in another breath, eyes darting around his wrist and then– on her shirt. It’s a cheap hand me down. A rip won’t matter, right? A quick tug and she tears the seam between his fist and her shirt, ripping it again to release the piece he’s holding. Charlie falls with a THUD and a soft groan of pain before she scrambles back and stands, hands out (as if that’d ward him away some how).
“ Salvation my ass! You might have the mistake part right, but you’re no savior! “ What kind of savior bullies someone that, in her books, rescued them from the wild outdoors and possibly greedy scrappers? No savior of her’s, that’s for damned sure. Deep breaths and she steadies herself a little more, shoulders squaring into place.
“ Listen, I didn’t bring you here to terrorize me, okay? I found you out in the middle of the beach and figured you didn’t belong in the middle of a mass of trees. I will gladly put you back for scrappers to pick you apart, though, if that’s what you want, asshole. “
She really must not know., but perhaps everyone felt it better to keep the masses in the dark so they didn’t start to get scared and panic. “I would hope no one could possibly so stupid as to try, but here we are.” Ultron allowed his arm to fall to his side as he observed, it was easy to lie and say you had good intentions but she seemed to actually... mean it? If he was reading this correctly.
“I am sure you thought yourself heroic, but the loss of a single body would be nothing more than an annoyance.” His gaze turned from her as he began exploring this poor garage that could not survive any sort of blast. “Perhaps if you want to save someone you should take them where they cannot be tracked. Or at least to place that can... take a hit. This is not your lab, right? I mean I’ve seen sad, but this is on the next level.”
Ah, but where were his manners? “I suppose like any ‘hero’ you want a proper thank you because it makes you feel better.” Not that he was going to actually say that to some child. “I am Ultron. My purpose is to save the world. So yes. I am your savior.”
