Hi guys!! It’s been a while since I last posted, or even since I even talked to a lot of you, but there’s a major issue about what’s going on in the squad.
The art squad, the drawing squad, or whatever you may call it, was originally just five people, me, @cinderus, @thatartcaster, the well known @impossiblycleverdreamer, and the fifth member, who doesn’t post on tumblr.
Today, we have over thirty members in the art squad, all of whom I’m sure are good, kind, talented artists, but all of whom I’m terribly afraid don’t really know one another as friends.
The problem we are facing in the art squad is that we aren’t a squad anymore, just a huge club of artists, and the problem with an ever growing group of friends is that, eventually, those of us not online as much are excluded.
I’m positive that all of you are great people, and would never leave a friend behind, but the direction some of us are leading the squad isn’t exactly the best.
You see, there isn’t supposed to be a power struggle
And I don’t mean to insult, hurt, or call out anyone, but even the way we let people join is like a club, where you check in with whoever’s “in charge” and see if they let you join, and friends shouldn’t work like that.
Friends learn to trust one another.
Friends learn to accept one another.
They get to know each other.
… and honestly? I’m so afraid that this isn’t what’s happening.
No one owns a friendship. No one owns - or will ever own - what the art squad used to be.
I don’t want to discontinue the group blog many of us have come to grow attached to, but what’s happening here is a very, very serious issue. And if we don’t address it, then what used to be just a few people being themselves, being ARTISTS, will simply become just a bunch of angry people quarreling over who’s in charge, who’s good, who’s bad, who should be kicked, who’s even a part of what became a petty, sad memory of what used to be.
And that’s not something I want.
It’s not something any of us want.
I know this post might get criticism, or mixed opinions. But that’s okay.
If we stay DETERMINED enough,
So please, help me solve this problem.
Because if all of us really are a group of friends,
If all of us really are the ART SQUAD,
Then we should show that there’s still more to us than some club.
That we really do care about each other
The same way we would family.
That’s what friends are for.
Don’t prove me wrong. Please.
