You want to borrow the plot? You see, ah, I haven't seen it for a couple of months. Yeah. I think I left it at work. But as soon as you get a new one the old ones going to show up again. Mmm. And plots are so expensive these days. You think I can afford a new plot, in this economy? Modern plots are so rubbish too. The schemers keep cutting corners in the plot manufacturing process to make profits. My dad still has the plot my grandparents bought him when he was 2. Plots just don't last that long anymore; I know people who replace their plots every year because they keep breaking. mm like is it even worth it anymore?
You know that iconic line in the first HTTYD movie where Gobber says, "trolls exist, they steal your socks, but only the left ones, whats with that?"
I have seen this movie hundreds of times over its 16 year existence and I just put together that Gobber is missing his right leg. He doesn't wear socks on his prosthetic. Gobber only has left socks.
rotg if it took place in 2025
Australian pride month being in November not June means there aren't big pride parades and events going on in my city at the moment. (There will be in November) feeling like I am missing out a bit atm.
But you lot with your June pride month will be missing out in November. I just gotta wait 5 months...

Velociraptors have feathers, we know this definitively. (They weren't people sized more like turkey sized but let's ignore that for a second.)
Now picture Jurassic Park (1993), everything is exactly the same, but the velociraptors are fluffy.
Local apprentice killed for going to breakfast too early, more at 7
I should not let myself pack for the entire day at 4:30 in the morning after less than four hours sleep again. Sleep deprived early morning me is a bit useless.
I did not remember a spare dry shirt, for some reason I only had one of my shower shoes, but I had two towels.
do australians really say "out woop woop" to refer to out in the sticks?
We also say "butt-fuck" or "butt-fuck, nowhere"

When I was at the natural history museum, the fossil section had stickers on the glass to engage children - things like "Flap your arms like a pterodactyl" or "Measure your hand against the mosasaurus." However the first of these I encountered, which I found alarming and threatening without context, was a sticker reading "Struggle like you are stuck in a tar pit"
I feel like more bright colors, an exclamation mark, or a more whimsical font choice would've also helped here to indicate that it is a Fun Activity For Children. Instead it felt like getting instructed in my inevitable fate by a road sign
Tsundere this, yandere that. I'm a wandere. You took your eyes off me for two seconds and I've already fucked off. Saw something cool glint on the other side of the continent and I'm on my way to check it out.
The only thing a person contributed to a group project was formatting...
He fixed minor layout problems but his fundamental formatting was garbage. There was two different fonts in the body of the report. The top margin was huge, there was no bottom margin, the side margins where skinny for no reason. All of the images were set to inline with text and therefore got super broken when I fixed the margins. And the titles weren't centre aligned he just hit tab a bunch until they were kind of centred, meaning when I fixed the margins they got broken. Does this man even know how to use word on the most basic level? Centre aligning isn't that hard, there is one (1) button that does it for you.
Also for a space restricted report why was he not cropping extended useless background out of images.
This was the only thing he contributed.
ok here's the thing, I think it's more complicated than that. all highly culturally contingent, of course, but in my experience...
If someone is picking up the lunch because one of you is more senior and one of you is more junior in your shared career because someone did that for them back in the day and they expect you to do the same for someone else in the future (generally several someones!) then it is perhaps polite to offer to pay the first time as the more junior person so that this understanding can be articulated, and then move forward in gratitude and promised future chains of generational reciprocity
but: if someone, generally a peer or coworker of some kind, covers lunch or coffee or whatever for both of you and you don't want to have a longer, storied friendship, or to protract the relationship by implying through not closing the gap that you want to continue to see them, specifically by paying that person back you cut off the gift economy exchange between the two of you and render the balance null. by declining the ongoing give and take you can gently reaffirm distance between the two of you, generally without any hard feelings
and then: if you go out for a meal with someone within some peer group, and that person foots the bill only to later send you an invoice for some offensively small amount (ymmv, and this is highly contextually specific, but the $9 request sent after a meal would fall into this category imo), especially if you haven't agreed at the time of payment to do this: this person is being a cheapskate.
I once went to a party where the host ordered pizza partway through the evening and then host invoiced everyone who attended the party for a share of the pizza. It was shitty pizza and an appallingly gauche, shitty thing to do. Just host a goddamned potluck like a normal person. (this person also would bring food to a potluck that she would forbid other people from eating. just. astonishing behavior.)
and then there are the people you alternate paying with, who are with you for the long haul: the refusal to close out tabs is a positive commitment to your continued sharing of meals, shared intimacy, shared proximity.
The pizza reimburse thing is the worst. Some of my friends do it all the time. Sometimes it is agreed upon. Most of the time though it is the product of poor planning. Somebody is hosting an event with half a dozen to a dozen people, realises they have only got snacks and no substantial food organised. Just orders dominos, it is too much for just them and so they get everyone else to chip in. And it becomes a huge pain because most of the easy money transfer stuff isn't available where I live, and we are all putting in BSBs and account numbers or doing cash but no-one really has change. I get organising is difficult and food is expensive but if you plan an event that goes from 4pm to midnight you have to think about dinner. 9 times out of 10 I would rather bring a plate of share food potluck style. I've also been to friends houses where the explicit plan is to order pizza and then no pizza is ordered.
