since there is such an "english speakers who don't even try to pronounce a foreign mame correctly" epidemic, native english speakers often try to overcorrect and end up thinking they have a moral imperative to pronounce every foreign name correctly at all times. so i'm gonna hold your hand and look into your eyss as i say this: you can't. you can't pronounce every sound in a language you don't speak. and that's fine. it happens to the rest of us too. we won't be mad so long as you try your best.
âI did some research to pronounce this name correctlyâ = đ great! even if the pronunciation was still off (and learning to pronounce a foreign language correctly takes a lot of practice) people generally appreciate it when someone goes the extra mile for accuracy, and honestly, languages are cool
âIâm probably not saying that correctlyâ/âsorry for my pronunciationâ = đ understandable! foreign languages often have sounds that arenât used in English and learning to correctly pronounce unfamiliar phonemes is genuinely difficult even with help
âlol Iâm not even gonna TRY to pronounce that đâ = đ THIS is the problem, if treats languages other than English like they are inherently âweirdâ or âoverly complicatedâ just because you arenât familiar with them
âOne thousand apologies for my butchering of this beautiful effervescent tongue, I will now flagellate myself as punishment for my crimesâ = đ chill
thinking "everyone can tell im bad at this" as i stand completely motionless doing nothing in public
people will say âtheyâre only friendsâ and then show me two people who would crawl through broken glass to hear the other laugh once. two people who have memorized each otherâs coffee orders, fears, childhood stories, and emergency contacts. two people who would haunt each otherâs houses as ghosts. be serious.
Just an FYIâthe original intention of this post was to challenge the way people say only friends, as though friendship is somehow lesser than other forms of love. As if being deeply known, cherished, and chosen by another person could ever be a small thing. Normalize profound platonic love. Some of the most fulfilling, transformative, and enduring relationships we will ever have are friendships. đ«¶đŒ

Trying to get the hang of MediBang Paint Pro.
Fun fact: on my second playthrough of FE: Awakening I made a male avatar just so I could marry Miriel. However, when the time came to get that S support, Â I just couldnât do it. She deserves so much better than some bland avatar character void of all personality. They all do.
companies make billions from you thinking you're ugly btw. only ugly thing is their bottom line. log out of tiktok right now.
learning to ask 'is this an ad' will save your life
ORAS haters are weak and will not survive the winter. How many other video game remakes have had the confidence, the guts, to ask challenging, pertinent philosophical questions like "if a giant doomsday asteroid is hurtling towards our planet in the remake-verse, then is it ethical to send it to a parallel dimension where it will destroy the world of those original games from 2002 instead," and even "hey what if actually âïž we just blow it up with a dragon đ"
A trope that gets to me: 'guard dog' character and their partner who are both fully aware of it and honestly don't care/kind of like it. Someone says "call your guard dog off" and their partner does call them off. That person, their 'guard dog', is someone who is unreservedly, irrefutably loyal to them. Someone undoubtedly dangerous who is willing to kill, to maim, to obey, simply because of their love for one another. There's no manipulation involvedâ it is loyalty, brutal, dogged loyalty. And it goes both ways.
Genuinely sat there teetering on the edge of a panic attack watching Keir Starmer talk about how banning kids from social media will "give them their childhoods back" because I can't stop thinking about what it was like to be a lonely scared kid who can barely leave the house but still find friends who are just as weird as you and see youtube videos where people talk about being gay and web series where girls kiss each other and love each other and gradually start feeling like that is less of a shameful thing to want and I do not think this turd of a man has ever had to think about that kind of shit in his life
we're moving to an internet where children would be banned from reaching out for help and friendship online but abusive parents can post their children's every second online to humiliate and expose them for money with no pushback
