Emma allowed her mind to think about what was being brought up and she chewed on her lip. “Well I could do more patrols and put more security on the effected areas..” The blonde felt for the children as she had been there before and sometimes there is any other options than to steal. “I was thinking if I could work with Granny to do a open night to give out some food to the children to they wouldn’t steal so much” Emma never wanted to children to be in her shoes when she was younger and wanted to help in anyway she could.

“Jack and I have opened Mortuary doors to some of these teenagers, a young girl Ellie who is now earning a wage to feed herself - perhaps it is wise to see who else will do the same. An open night while an excellent idea, is a temporary fix. These children need money or need to be enrolled in school.” Sally offered her opinion on the matter. She came from Halloween town, the children there were always a little worse for wear, but her irritatingly beating heart ached for these teenagers. Their whole lives had been ripped upside down.

“I missed you too, but being trapped in this small town might be good for us, it’ll be almost impossible to lose each other again.”

“You’re right Jack.” She told him with a sigh, from the heart beating to the feelings of pain and temperature, breathing. Breathing was exhausting. How did humans do that their whole life?

She gave him a tender smile. “That is true. I had some money saved up form working during the curse. I’ve put a deposit down on the Mortuary - I figure it will feel a little bit like home? We could start a pumpkin patch in the garden?”

She looked to Jack with a smile. “I’m glad it’s not just me.” While Halloween Town was full, they weren’t people and she sighed tugging at the front of her dress as if it would ease the discomfort she’d felt in her chest since her memories were returned. “How do they deal with this constant thud?” Acutely more aware of her heart beating. She moved sitting next to him, they’d barely been out of each other’s sight in the Underworld. “I missed you.”

“Now sheriff, I’m not opposed to a little deadman walking situation - it’s delightfully familiar, but given that the majority of those returned are children of less than savoury members of our town. Do you think there is anything that can be done in relation to the increase of theft in the town? The kids don’t have money, and are resulting to drastic measures to feed themselves. I’ve given two a job at Nightmare Mortuary. Also, the mortuary was vandalised the other night and I was to rectify the issue before this extends to Jack’s graveyard. The dead should be respected.”

Ellie relaxed for a few moments after the whole thing with Auradon and the Isle and then the Underworld; it was hard to do but she finally had some time to sit down and draw while there was no one rushing around and questioning her constantly about where she was from, who she was born to and what she was going to do while she was there.

“If you’re here to ask me when I’m going to school, the answer is never and please go away” Ellie spoke as she drew a picture of Aspen that she had in her minds eye

“Actually, I was going to ask if you would like to intern as a planner at my mortuary. However, you would be required to attend Storybrooke College?” The former rag doll told the blonde, her head tilting to the side to see the picture the girl was drawing.

“You’re very talented - you’d be able to design the funeral order of services - it would be a delightful touch to possibly have a sketch of the departed rather than a photo, more personal.”

Mal wasn’t sure what had happened over the past few weeks, it seemed like everyone else had memories of it , but for her it was just a complete blank like nothing happened at all. “Okay look, I have zero memory of anything that happened over the past few weeks could you catch me up? Maybe it’s just the shock of it all , but I’m drawing a blank .”

“No memory? Well that’s troubling little one.” More so then the deaths and the link to the Underworld that found its way into town. Sally tried to remembet if she had come across anyone who hadn’t got their memories back when the saviour broke the spell on the town but the purple haired teenager was the only one. The purple hair was a nice touch though, it reminded Sally of the witches and dark fae of Halloween Town. “Do you need somewhere to stay? I have a spare room at the mortuary?”

“And I’m a rabbit, but I know I’m not natural in this world. I can feel it, can’t you?” she asked, watching the other woman earnestly. “I can’t access my abilities, you’re human… I strongly suspect this isn’t that kind of place. But no, where I come from, the dead don’t talk. Not without some foul magics indeed. Honestly, being dead’s probably safer than being alive.” Wonderland had always been a strange place, one that she loved, but it was dangerous and that was why she was always so anxious. Hsiao-Han knew how to keep herself alive there. “Who’s Santa? Why did you kidnap someone?”

“Perhaps the magic is the realm itself? But we have the skeleton Bone Daddy band. Zero the ghost dog.“ She sighed wistfully, she missed home, it was a place where she had been herself. Here in this land she felt like a fraud - she wasn’t even meant to be human. “Jack got bored, I love Halloween Town, it’s frightfully delightful. But every year was the same routine. Three hundred and sixty five days to prepare for the exact same festival, with the exact same script. It get’s rather tedious. So Jack took over Christmas. Santa is a big red man who delivers present to children. Rather fearsome really.”

Hsiao-Han rubbed her face, trying to hide the panic in her expression unsuccessfully. She’d always been a frightened little thing - it came with being a rabbit, she supposed; the phrase rabbit-hearted existed for a reason - but the idea of the dead coming back to life, or at least having a link to the living world was beyond anything she’d imagined. That this kind woman, Sally, had no problem with it made everything worse. “Yes, but witches aren’t, you know, dead. Dead is… You shouldn’t be walking around when you’re dead. Not that I know what happens after that, but, you know?” she repeated, not really sure that she understood what she was saying either.

“No, but creatures dead and alive frequent Halloween Town.” Sally was confused, did the dead not frequent this land? She knew the humans had gotten a shock when Jack tried his hand at Christmas, but she had assumed that’s because the toys he left were delightfully ghoulish, and not like what the human children were used to from Sandy Claws. “I don’t understand - this is what happen in my realm. I’m not supposed to be human. I’m a rag doll. My Jack is a skeleton, his rendition of Shakespeare is really very good.” she told the other. “My true love is dead and has been for as long as I have been in creation. Didn’t stop him kidnapping Santa, that was a hell of a year.”

The dark haired witch had lied to her. There were no skeletons in this place. However the wails echoing through the caves were certainly a more familiar haunting sound that had the rag doll humming in mild content. She picked up a decayed plant, pulled at the rotten petals lightly, blue eyes closing for a second as she wished to find the one she sought. Grimacing as the flower shook and disappeared. She hared when that happened. Did that mean Jack was gone and she wouldn’t find him. “Hello? Has anyone seen a skeleton? About this high.” she motioned about herself. // @jack-pumpkin-king

“…And that’s why I’m worrying about all this rumour about being able to bring back the dead,” Hsiao-Han concluded, finally taking a chance to breathe before she passed out or, worse, gave herself some kind of panic attack. She took a long, deep breath, pinching the bridge of her nose as she closed her eyes. After a few moments, she opened them again and sure enough, she wasn’t alone. “I mean. Aren’t you?”

“Worried about the dead? No, of course not. I was created around creatures of death and nightmares. Being dead is not the limitations that people believe.” Sally wasn’t even sure what she was anymore. Was she still a rag doll or was she human? Then there was Jack, and the Mayor, and Zero. Where were they? She could only hope they were in Halloween Town, safe and well and preparing for next Halloween, without her. “Vampires, ghosts, witches, the boogie man, skeletons, they are my people.”

Uma was listening, but she didn’t want to hear it. There was absolutely no way her first and second mate were d- gone. They couldn’t be. She needed them there beside her, to keep her steady by giving her something to focus on. Without them… Without them, she was lost. She hit the nearest surface with her fist, not even flinching at the pain it caused her. “I’m asking the questions around here! My crew ain’t the sharpest but there’s no way they let themselves die. It’s every man for themselves on the Isle and my boys are the best at what they do.” The pride was to hide her fear that they had indeed died - that perhaps they’d suffered, trying to find her. “I haven’t asked for any damn names, but you want a skeleton? Try the graveyard.”

“It wasn’t a matter of letting themselves die. The realm collapsed. Rescue teams sent over barely got out of there alive. Your boys will have tried their best I’m sure.” But from the woman’s words, they seemed close and when someone you cared about was in danger, every man for themselves always went flying out the window. She knew that from experience, facing Oogie to protect Santa and Jack. Nearly lost her leg doing so, and had to restitch new material and discard of the material he touched though. “I can’t exactly answer any more questions when I likely know no more than you do now.” She’d tried the graveyard, and then she’d tried the forest, looking for a door to Halloween Town. No dice. “I’ve tried there. I don’t think he made it to Storybrooke.”

Talking about feelings wasn’t something done on the Isle. Truth be told, talking about feelings wasn’t something Uma had ever been given the opportunity to do. Perhaps in another life she could be honest with herself, speak about her true emotions - the grief warring within her with the disbelief, unable to accept what had happened to her boys- to the people she car- to her crew. So a random stranger telling her not to be angry… Uma couldn’t care less. “I’ll show you upset,” she growled, reaching for her cutlass only to find it wasn’t in her scabbard. Of course. Another thing to have abandoned her. “All I need is to find my crew. Tall blonde idiot that could lift a ship and a shady pirate, probably clutching a hook. Where are they?”

Crew. Crew meant pirate right? Sally wasn’t sure, there was never any pirates in Halloween Town, just ones she had ready about in books. “I haven’t seen your crew - if they didn’t make it through the portals, then I’m afraid their gone. I’ve heard people saying the land on the other side collapsed in on itself, anyone who didn’t make if through...” she sighed. “Have you seen a skeleton? Tall, good looking, might not be a skeleton anymore - his name is Jack, I can’t find him either, he wasn’t in Storybrooke as far as I know.” and she couldn’t find an entrance in the woods for Halloween Town.

Her home was gone. They may well have been trapped on the Isle, but it was her freedom; her freedom from her mother, her freedom to be herself. She’d watched through a glowing green portal, cuts and bruises and dust littering her body as hope tried to fail her, tried to leave her like Harry and Gil were… No, they had to be here somewhere. They had to be. She was a Captain, damn it, and she required her crew to continue to be so.

She turned on her heel, staring down at the person watching her. “What?!” she shouted, stamping her feet in a strange mixture of disbelief, grief and anger. “What the hell are you looking at?!”

Sally had met bigger and badder than the teenager in front of her, and arms folded over her chest. “That attitude is not the one to take, but now that you ask, I’m looking at someone whom is clearly upset and could possible use someone to talk too.” Sally could understand the feelings of confusion and disbelief since the curse broke. She wasn’t sure how, but she was no longer a rag doll, no longer able to unstitch and resew herself.

She was also missing Jack. The redhead had checked everywhere for him, but still hadn’t managed to track him down; so she figured he was still in Halloween Town, perhaps a ragdoll to human was more realistic than a skeleton?
