Rail Cables - Winter Selection 2016. Stanier Black-Five: New Zealand based sound-artist Jo Burzynska has been actively involved in the avant-garde music scene for over 20 years now. Her audio work is largely based on the manipulation of her own environmental recordings, as well as found sounds, which she uses to create dense soundscapes that use sources such as mesmerising aircraft drones to the pounding rhythms of trains and more recently the sounds of the earthquakes that have shaken her city. She has performed alongside Merzbow, hosted a number of radio shows on Resonance.Fm and she occasionally writes for The Wire magazine. Sam Grant is a sound artist, musician and record producer based in the North East of England. He has played in such noisey hardcore bands as Khunnt and Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs as well as recording / producing / mastering many albums, one of which is Richard Dawson's critically aclaimed 'Nothing Important'. His installation work looks at the more fundamental nature of sound, exploring its influence over our thoughts, and our perspectives of space. Grant builds sculptural objects as performers - their physical form adding to the conversation begun by the composition. Daniel Rejmer is a music producer/mixer based in Stockholm, Sweden, Working in London for many years his dynamic approach to sound has spanned a wide variety of collaborations. As well as producing, mixing and engineering for many different artist, Rejmer was also one of the main musicians and collaborators with Ben Frost in the band ‘School of Emotional Engineering’. His music has been released through Lawrence English's A Guide To Saints label...part of the Room40 family. Joseph Curwen : HP Lovecraft inspired Post-Rave Hauntology Rituals and Radiophonic Occult Synth Horror Soundtracks, from Newcastle-upon- Tyne, England. All digital noise intended. Hello 2016. We have the strangest selection here yet. Its fucking amazing.

Why there are two tracks from 1995 on the Spring Selection
AN OPEN LETTER WHICH WAS SENT TO EVERYONE INVOLVED IN THE RELEASE OF THE SPRING SELECTION To the beautiful Spring people, I thought I would just explain the choice of putting two tracks from 1995 by Being on to start the record...because obviously they are not exactly train inspired pieces...plus it completely messes up the Rail Cables tag line of 'New music inspired by train travel' ....so here it is! (Its not as long a story as the first paragraph suggests....!) My first job was in a record shop in Kendal as the Saturday lad and anything a little weird used to catch my eye, there was this one strange looking cd with very little information on it by an artist called Being titled Selected Transmissions....the only thing I recognised about it was it was released through Andrew Weatherall's Sabresongs label...I was a big fan of his mixes at the time.... It wasn't some cool little independent record store...it was a big chain one that ended up treating its employees really bad just before it went into liquidation... (Our Price...if your wondering...Mark and Dave) So our boss told us to take whatever we wanted when it shut! I actually got the stores sound system?! Anyway I took the CD i had often looked at wondering what it was, It blew my mind. I couldn't believe it had been made in 1995! It still sounded so amazing and fresh. The first track 'Muse' was my total favourite opener to an album for years....I always found it so so perfect with the sun shine. The amount of train journeys I've spent with the first sine waves from that track being the soundtrack to me squinting my eyes watching the sun as I travel. When I started thinking about this seasonal compilations idea one of the first things i thought was.....for the sunshine starting to show in the series it would be perfect to start with that Being track.... So I tried emailing Andrew Weatherall asking how it works if you want to use a track...what royalties I have to pay and that....someone from his company emailed back saying Andrew had lost touch with that guy ages ago and if I can find him and he gives me permission I'm free to use it... So it would be great right now if i had a story of travelling the land and getting stuck in traps and having to fight bears to find this Being....but I didn't. It was actually quite easy. So I found him! And it turns out he's still making (amazing) music and he was blown away some body was actually affected by his music so much! Said he was flattered and it was fine for me to use it!!! So thats why the first two tracks are the first two tracks from my favourite album to listen to on a train when the sun is shining. It works perfectly...going into Tom's tunes straight after.... So excited for you to hear it all... As for making a mess of the tagline 'NEW music ' on even just the second release.....fuck it! I'm so excited that this project can do what ever it wants! Certain parts of it I really want to try to stick to, like the 4 musicians every season and a different artist for the sleeve....but little surprises here and there are fun aren't they?!?!? I don't feel bad about it...ha. Honestly we should all be so so proud. It flows amazing....really really perfectly. Cool, Cheers for reading chaps!!!
