So I’ve been fiddling around with the Sailor Senshi Maker, and inevitably began doing Sailor Senshi versions of the Rainbow Brite characters. Then I kept doing them. Now I’m up to the entire population of Color Kids (plus Krys), so I figured I’d share them with you so that there was maybe some point to the ridiculous amount of time I’ve poured into this thing. ;D
So first up we have: Sailor Rainbow! (Sailor Brite? Sailor Rainbow Brite? Rainbow Sailor Brite??) She was the first one I did, and she was probably the most fun. Making her belt out of upside-down crescent moons made me giggle like a little kid.
Next up: Sailor Red! (Sailor Red Butler? Definitely not Sailor Butler, haha!) Skirtless! I imagine that Sailor Red is like the Starlights - male in civilian form but female in senshi form. I had to construct the belt out of drag-and-drops, which was interesting to say the least!
Third is: Sailor Orange! (Sailor Lala?) I gave her a big fluffy bow to make up for the loss of her long robe. I hadn’t realized until I tried to make her that the Senshi Maker currently lacks any sandal options! Perhaps I should have given her hair a bow to replace her beret?
Fourth is: Sailor Canary! (Yellow) Why do the legwarmers overlap the shoes in this fashion? On that note, why do the pantyhose go over the leotard rather than under? She may be the only one not wearing heels. I thought it was appropriate, as her original outfit’s shoes were ballet slippers or some type of dance shoes.
Fifth is: Sailor Patty! (O'Green) She was almost as fun as Rainbow, what with her hair, shorts/bloomers, and “bandaids” (I think they are actually parts to build your own wand or staff)!
Sixth is: Sailor Buddy! (Blue) I think Buddy would also be like the Starlights, with a male civilian form. I had to make some sacrifices especially in the legs with this outfit. There weren’t quite enough layers to make it all work out. If the Senshi Maker updates at some point in the future with more leg layers, I may redo this Color Senshi.
Seventh is: Sailor Indigo! (Finally, an easy one!) I had to add her pigtails and bows manually, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the result! Tried something a little different with her belt, as the star was just blending into the belt strap.
Eighth is: Sailor Violet! (Sailor Shy Violet?) After all the troubles I had with the two previous Color Senshi, Shy Violet turned out picture-perfect. I’m particularly pleased that the star on her tiara turned out to be a different shade than Rainbow’s.
We’re not done yet! Ninth is: Sailor Moonglo! So… frilly… love…
More seriously, it was so nice to get to use all these frills. The Color Kids are surprisingly unfrilly considering their subject and target audience!
Tenth is: Sailor Pink! (Sailor Tickled Pink?) Out of all the Color Senshi, despite all the manual construction I had to do on many of the others, Pink was the most difficult. She has so many colors in the upper half of her costume that were very difficult to portray in this medium. I eventually gave in and gave her a rear bow in order to include one more color.
Eleventh is: Sailor Stormy! …Bahahahaha!! Maybe it’s the hair, maybe it’s the lightning bolts constructed out of crescent moons, but Stormy is just kind of hopelessly hilarious! Her costume is surprisingly good, though.
Finally, we close with: Sailor Krys! Krys’ costume is actually kind of plain without the upper sleeves in rainbow colors. For others who had extra colors to include, I added a back bow. That just didn’t seem right for Krys, though. Added the mask to replace his helmet!
And that’s all, folks! I had so much fun doing these, so I hope you had some fun looking at them! I sincerely recommend that you go play with the Senshi Maker, even if just a little!
