Dragonfly Tears (2023 vs 2016)

dragonflies are signs of good luck for me. i can recall significant moments where i spotted a dragonfly in person and what followed after

i was so proud of the 2016 art i did at the time. i never wouldve thought id be here to see my improvement 🥹 i also wanted to give the same feel as the time i used to do traditional art (posca markers as my main medium). cus of that, i would use a very limited colour palette with minimal rendering and it was nice to play around

i had the idea of mixing Sonny Angel trinkets with Junji Ito's art style for cute and creepy combinations! i made them into stickers with spot holo to highlight certain details for each design and i just love how they turned out ✨

art i did inspired by Someone by Pixie Labrador early last year! the mv for the song reminded me of the cover for Go For It, Nakamura! so i wanted to do a redraw with the characters from the Someone mv ✨

i really wanted to portray gay panic while featuring the rose and beret from the mv. i also realised that the butterfly hairclips on the main girl's hair are close to the pan flag colours! not sure if it was intentional or not but i really love that detail

my design of Sandy (the mystery prize) from the Stardew Valley sticker rally that i hosted last year! the rally had all of the bachelors and bachelorettes (and Krobus) at the time and i just really wanted Sandy to be a marriage candidate. goes to show that if you manifest hard enough, dreams do come true 💐✨️

Calne Ca sticker design i made for @anyxanik's Miku Sticker Rally at HoshiCon last year! as much as i had fun drawing her, it was a challenge to figure out how to chibify her with all the details 🥲

fun fact: i originally wanted to go for more blue Miku than teal/greens colours but she started looking too Sona for my liking lol

"uneasy lies the head that wears the crown"

my art of Caitlyn for the Arcane Sticker Rally i hosted at HoshiCon last year!

‼️‼️ YAP BELOW INCLUDES SPOILERS TO ARCANE S2 ‼️‼️

the main idea i had in mind for this was "heavy is the crown" (not really in reference to the song). its a big theme in Macbeth, which in my opinion was the literary reference for Caitlyn in the second seasons intro since her character follows a similar path

although not an exact copy, i also wanted to make her crown slightly similar to Viegos crown (a mix of King Viego and original Ruined King) to follow the whole "mad king" theme too

i wanted to add purple flowers as well since theyve been featured a lot during the season. i added them to the back, reminiscent of the funeral scene but for Caitlyns perception and morals

and of course the blue cross over her eye is a direct reference to the seasons intro and the constant foreshadowing of her eye throughout. i also tried to make it Jinx-blue since Caitlyns need for revenge against Jinx blinded her to ruin

Tokyo Alley: Dreamers was the first big Tokyo Alley event i tabled at so i have a soft spot for this design 💛

as an "easter egg", her highlights spell out my name!
