Hello! this is the SFW blog of @scar-rain-on-me !
This is where I ramble about Scar and analyze him like a bug in a jar.
I also get into more controversial topics like the prevalence of ableism in the fandom and hints of internalized ableism in some of the cc's behavior towards Scar.
This blog is primarily about RPF, so if you don't like, don't read!
so....i take it you saw joe get mad at EGG (...realistically gem+grian) for breaking his redstone and not bothering to fix it or tell him they broke it in the first place?
i've talked about it on my new blog @rains-rpf-rambles which is where i'm gonna be posting rpf and discourse content from now on, so pls send asks like this to that blog instead!
to be entirely fair- the redstone interference could have been tango, impulse, and skizz when they were trying to move in the elder guardian. i only watched impulse's pov on that, but i remember them running into some issues with joe's redstone for his skeleton farm in the process.
however- egg absolutely moved cub's shop without permission. he said it clear as day in joe's stream chat.
i really hope this situation doesn't get played off as a new "rivalry" or "drama" or something stupid like that. i hope they have that "long meeting" joe threatened and i hope egg (and/or imp, skizz, and tango) get told off for messing with other hermits' shops and redstone.
joe is going the fuck OFF on stream right now, holy shit.
so apparently either egg (when they were building "the good egg") or skizz, impulse, and tango (when they were moving the elder guardian) broke the redstone line to joe's arrow shop and just. left it broken???
joe was rightfully pissed, i have a few quotes:
"well just because they're building in front of my shop doesn't mean my shop should get shut down"
"is this a prank? no i think it's just them being rude"
"is there anyone who can prank people who are inconsiderate?"
"you think they'd at least tell me they're shutting my shop down"
[reading chat] "somebody was transporting a mob through" "well that doesn't really sound like an excuse to shut down my shop without permission"

Joe then immediately flew to the end to mine out obsidian to encase his entire redstone line.
Then cub logged on and he and joe expressed their grievances in the chat
scar logs on and diffuses the situation by putting on the persona of the friendly banker and encouraging joe to file a complaint with the sheriff
joe said if this wasn't resolved in a timely manner they might need to have a loooong hermitcraft meeting about messing with other people's shops.
scar promised to act quickly and even offered bricks and anvils for joe to smash through egg's window (cub did it for him since he has immunity).
while they were doing that- joe realized that whoever broke the redstone line also messed with the lectern and calibrated skulk sensor he had set up for it, which angered him further.
I wasn't able to re-watch the next part in the vod before the stream ended, but i remember joe made some sarcastic remark like "yeah and while you're at it, why don't you break more of my redstone"
this is the Most pissed i have Ever heard joe, but scar was Really quick to diffuse his rage and promise that action would be taken, and distract both joe and cub with disney anecdotes about eating a meal with goofy.
Scar is such a great mediator for conflict, and i feel like this is a testament to that clip where joe says that scar is the only hermit who has never once been unpleasant to work with, and talks about how he's such an excellent communicator and really considerate of everyone's thoughts and opinions.

i like how cub's bases (& many of his mega-projects) always gotta have one or several little scar effigies and representations built in.

CLEO: Yeah. Yeah, I know this about you. These are the things that I love about you Scar.
SCAR: No those aren't the good things! Think of about like theー being strong, and! And, and uh... Can't think of anything else. And that is not even true. But yeah, no, I'm a...
CLEO: You're strong-willed.
SCAR: Am I?
CLEO: I mean, when it comes to things that are important, yeah!
SCAR: Maybe. I dunno.
CLEO: I mean, like, not to me. 'Cause I can get you to do pretty much anything. So...

SCAR: You wanna go kill Cub?
CLEO: It takes very little effort, I'm gonna be real.

There are so many wonderful and entertaining dynamics where Scar gets to be as chaotic as he pleases while the other person yells at him in disbelief. Funny man ー Straight man (also knows as boke-tsukkomi, for weebs like I am) is a proven comedy duo formula that works, and works well.
Which is why it upsets me when people try to push Cub and Scar in this box. Because Cub presents you with a dynamic that hasn't been explored before: what if you thought everything Scar Goodtimes does was fucking awesome. What if you were completely down to get into any and all trouble with him without a single question asked.
What if Hotguy were the sexiest man alive. Well, he is, obviously, and Cub is gonna collect all merch of him that exists, and give him a dedicated corner in the museum, and outbid everyone for the Hotguy painting auction. Because Hotguy just makes him feel a special sort of way, you see.
What if the magic crystals were actually real. And they are. They possess secret, powerful capabilities no one can begin to understand. They bend time and space. You should totally visit the wizard in the jungle and buy everything in stock. Cub did that and Cub absolutely does not regret it.
Scar wants to abuse his authority as the POE, blowing up all shops that he deems unworthy? He should do that. Here are some TNT blocks.
Scar wants to burn down the s11 map, despite the hard work of the firefighters? He should do that. Here is a flint and steel.
I can keep going for eternity. Cub loves crazy. Cub IS crazy, he is Scar's wonderful mad scientist friend who he is a little scared of. Just because he knows how hard Cub can go. Every hermit knows how hard Cub can go. Cleo thinks Cub is the scariest hermit (despite being able to handle him herself pretty well). Doc, despite his evil theatrics, doesn't dare to mess with Cub. Cub can destroy entire Minecraft ecosystems in seconds just because he thought it would be funny. He is not no-nonsence, he is all nonsence.
And he loves his friends so much! Including Scar, especially Scar! He is an incredibly involved hermit who is always ready to help people and participate in community projects. He often laughs at Scar's jokes when no one else does. He always treats Scar with respect, seeing him as an incredible strong and capable individual. And he gets so, so worried when there is even a tiny implication that Scar might actually be in trouble.
TL;DR: Cubfan135 is the silliest man alive who is deeply enamored with everything Scar does and you should treat him as such
I feel like the way all of Scar's MUSCLE STRONG MACHO characters are heavily satirized isn't discussed enough in the fandom. All of them are enveloped in some sort of coat of irony. And it's been done so much, the lines between intentionally making fun of hypermasculinity and others actually accepting it as a part of Scar's own persona started to blur...
I feel like the way he talks about his brothers is really telling too lol his brothers are indeed this kind of gymbro from what i know...
Adding to this, that one scene from Secret Life when Grian scares Scar and he makes that comment about how he was so sweaty "I'll take a picture and send it to you so you can keep it" was obviously satirical of those gym bros who send pictures of themselves sweaty after a work out. A lot of people played it off as "Scar is being weird again" but if you remember how ridiculous Scar finds his brothers when they act like that, all of these personas and jokes make more sense
you know cub understands scar's desire to just act scared and whiny for the sake of it too bc sometimes he engineers a scenario to enable just that, and scar always drops the act the moment he's had enough lmfao
the thing about cub is he likes facilitating experiences
You defend Scar's right to not be babied just for him to be like "oh no I almost dwied!! I was so scawed >_<" on camera. I applaud
The thing about convex, is that sometimes Scar is in trouble, and Cub's twitch chat is like, "Cub! Go help Scar, Cub!". To which Cub just replies with "Nah, There is no need."
And it could read as Cub being dismissive. Why does he not want to help his friend? Does he hate him? But in actuality, it shows that Cub understands Scar exceptionally well, since Scar will often want to complete a task all by himself, even if in process he's whining for assistance here and there.

Cub is ready to jump to help Scar any day, any time. But he can read between the lines, and he knows he needs to receive Scar's approval first to actually go and do something.
I appreciate Cub for how respectful he is about Scar's personal autonomy, both verbally (always emphasizing how skilled Scar is; hyping him up when it comes to any of Scar's new projects) and via just leaving Scar alone to sort his own troubles. A really good showcase of Cub's emotional intellegence.
I still think about recent Scar stream and Skizz recalling a dirty joke he made in an older video and Scar being like "oh!! Do you think I got it?? Do you think I got it back then??" like. Brother I've heard you giggle for less
It's true that in older content Scar didn't engage with suggestive jokes as much as he does now but it never really came off to me like he didn't understand them, more so that he didn't want to participate. Like Keralis joked about butts in Hermitquest s1 and Scar was like "oh :) that's creepy" instead of tilting his head in a question or something.
Top 10 things I wish I clipped is some VOD I was watching where Scar was talking about how he doesn't make a good valley girl and how Jimmy is actually the "natural valley girl" and he just tries to repeat what he does to the best of his ability
There isn't enough girl Scar out there Do you know how much he calls himself a crazy cat lady in early HC seasons. That's a trope rooted in misogyny but I'll take it. He said he wants to become a (cat) lady at one point ☝️

Thinking about Scar and femininity will always make my head spin 2025 christmas stream was literally made for me specifically. Scar going out of his way to wear a pastel pink cape with his dress was crazy. He really is a good businessman he knows what people want
Truthfully, I really hate when people are willing to tackle the themes of gender (on a fanon basis) in their story but completely ignore Scar. Just turn to him and shake their heads, like "I don't know. He's cis I guess. Nothing going on with him."
Scar has such a flexible view of the personas he can adopt. That includes enthusiastically participating in playing up a different gender (the valley girl bit) and exploring different gender presentations.
This applies to all of his dresses, and the elf skin (which is also implied to be a dress look at the pixels I'm telling you).
He tends to speak of being "beautiful" instead of "handsome" (a word he often applies to himself, in casual speech) when he's an elf, which leads me to believe that he is very much intentionally experimenting with his character's looks. This also happens with more minor feminine outfits of his, like the Elsa cosplay he did for one of the MCCs. Both Scar's language and paralanguage very much indicate that he understand what it means to present feminine as a cis man IRL, and he still continues to push for his persona/character's freedom to morph into anything.
Not acknowledging all that personally leads me to dissapointment. He likes being a badass shirtless hot guy and he likes being a cute and pretty princess! Have fun with him!
Why do people feminize Grian all the time. Sure, you can do whatever you want for fan depictions, but why is being a short or skinny guy equated with femininity? Especially since it's usually in contrast with Scar being the big, buff masculine one.
"The fandom wants Grian to be what Scar is" is a sentence I have definitely said before lol I'm happy I'm not the only one seeing it.
But honestly I don't have a problem with making Grian feminine. Grian does put himself in a decent around of feminine roles, he calls himself a mother and a girlfriend and a queen. He also does enjoy a bit of a cute aesthetic in his life.
I think the issue starts when people claim to be fans of both Scar and Grian and then only pay attention to Grian and only allow Grian to be a complex character. Or intentionally bend who Scar is, just he can fit into the one-dimensional mold they want him to fit in. One feminine partner and one masculine partner, the girl and the boy.
It's an issue with heteronormativity but that's a really hard problem to unpack, as it's a problem within queer spaces as a whole. Characters being divided into "the small, hairless and submissive one" and "the big, strong and dominant one" is something that happens in every fanbase ever. It's sad to see, but it can only be challenged if shippers like these begin to question their preferences.
I'm just glad that Scar continues to be his whimsical self and I can just tune out everything I don't like about fanon...
