You Can't Swing a Dead Cat Without Hitting a...: Why do you think people who make up expressions seem to have it out for cats?
I Have Half a Mind...: Ever done something really stupid that you regretted right away? Share time!
Everything Happens for a Reason: Do you believe that everything happens for a reason? Even the most menial of events?
If It's Not One Thing, It's Another: Pick a different question from the list you haven't answered yet and answer it!
From the Get Go: When you first meet someone, what do you notice first about them?
Same Difference: Are you the detail-oriented type, or the big picture type?

It's Always in the Last Place You Look: What's something you seem to lose a lot?
Happy Easter from 1983!
Great! If I have a lot of people who want to come then I will try to find some place other than my apartment. If not I’ll just do something small at my place. I’ll keep you updated. I’m Nikki by the way, I’m not sure we’ve met yet.
I'm Tegan. We haven't met yet. Nice to meet you though. What brings you to Van?
Since this month is Autism Awareness Month, I am looking to throw a small fundraiser for Autism Speaks. I haven’t decided on a place, but I wanted to see who would be interested in coming first. If you are just let me know!
Count me in!

Since she had moved to Vancouver, Cam really hadn’t had the time to go out yet. She had been busy with unpacking and getting her house set up properly. It wasn’t as if she hadn’t wanted to go out of the house, but the woman had priorities. Coming home to a messy place full of boxes wasn’t her idea of a great way to say “welcome back, Cam!” Although, now that things had been set up a bit more, she decided that she was going to check out some of Vancouver’s nightlife.
After dolling herself up, Cam made her way to a bar she had read about in hopes of meeting someone who she could spend some time talking to—who knows, maybe even someone she could go home with? Either was fine. Part of her was starved for human interaction, but there was also a part of her that was a little nervous. Meeting new people, in thought, was far more stressful than actually meeting people in action.
When she arrived at the bar, Cam ordered a whiskey on the rocks. She flashed the bartender a smile when he sat her drink down in front of her and instructed him to open a tab for her for the night. After that whole thing was taken care of, the woman took a sip from her glass and swirled back and forth on the bar stool, scanning the area for anyone she may be able to approach. Then again, maybe it was far more fun to wait for someone to approach her, instead.
Tegan was feeling kind of mopey. Yes, mopey was the word she would have used to describe herself in that moment. Usually, she was happy, but not now. She remembered why her mother had given her her middle name, recalling what she had told her one time when she was but a child.
"Tegan, I gave you the middle name Rain because you always have a way of being the sunshine through the rain. Plus, it sounds a lot better than Sun, right? Sometimes, you can be a petulant little raincloud though. My little raincloud." Her mom laughed, hugging Tegan close.
"Are you sure you and dad just couldn't think of anything else? I mean, Sara got grandma's name. Why couldn't I?" Tegan huffed while being squished in her mother's embrace.
"Good question, but I'm not changing your birth certificate now." The young mother laughed once more, patting her daughter lovingly on top of her disheveled hair.
Tegan just couldn't bring herself to have it changed, even years later. The exchange was one of her best and treasured moments with her mother, who she didn't get to see all that often. She owed everything to her mom, and loved her very much.
On a whim, Tegan decided to go out that night to a little bar she liked, The Cascade. It wasn't anything fancy, but she could sit and enjoy a drink, maybe even meet some new people. The nicest thing was that it was within walking distance. Tegan never actually got her driving license, hours of riding in a crusty old tour bus had dissuaded her from wanting to drive at all.
Pulling on her beloved longcoat and aviators, her approximation of an anti-paparazzi disguise, she headed out.
After an uneventful walk, she arrived at the small building. Sauntering up to the wooden bar, she ordered a martini and propped her small frame on a barstool, sulking so much she didn't even notice the woman beside her.

Melissa couldn’t help the smile that pulled at the corners of her lips as Tegan moved to join her. She scooted over slightly so there was enough room for the two of them, and felt the jets start to press the hot air into her skin. She sighed happily and sank a little lower into the water. She let her head rest against the back of the tub, her hand moving to play with the bubbles covering the surface of the water.
"This feels amazing, Teeg," she said, trying a nickname out to see how it felt on her tongue. She turned to look at the other woman, letting her hand fall through the water before it came to rest on Tegan’s skin. "It’s been awhile since I had a chance to truly relax like this, so thank you." Leaning over, she pressed a soft kiss to Tegan’s shoulder, sighing happily as she leaned her forehead against the tattooed skin. She inhaled the vanilla scent, her eyes drifting closed as her fingers played over Tegan’s thigh slowly.
"Teeg, huh? That's a new one. Tegan grinned. "You deserve to relax. You work hard." She cooed at Melissa.
"I think this thing was a really good investment, it really is spectacular after being on your feet all day." Tegan sighed happily. She moved so she was nestled more into Melissa's arms, nearly on top of her. "I've never really shared it with anyone until now. It's a recent thing." She chuckled. She only had it installed about a month ago, but was regretting not having one sooner.
"I do appreciate a good bubble bath." She laughed as she smeared bubbles across Melissa's face playfully.

"Perks of being a songwriter," Melissa chuckled. She closed her eyes and leaned her cheek against Tegan’s palm, enjoying this moment with her. She let a sigh go, knowing that whatever Tegan wanted from her, she would happily give.
Feeling Tegan pull away, she simply nodded. As the water ran, she started to strip, wondering if Tegan was going to join her, but the answer was apparent as the woman slipped out of the bathroom. She tried desperately to not show any disappointment, and eventually slipped slowly into the water, letting the heat relax her tense muscles.
She relaxed in the solitude for a few minutes, her eyes closed and head leaning back against the porcelain tub. She heard Tegan come back into the bathroom and slowly opened her eyes, a lazy smile crossing her lips. “I’m glad I’m here, too. Thank you for having me over,” she said softly. Slowly, she lifted a hand out to Tegan, encouraging her to come over. She didn’t care if Tegan just sat on the edge of the tub while she continued to soak, or if Tegan joined her, she was leaving that up to the other woman.
Though, she was hoping for the latter.
"Mmmm, I’d love to join you for breakfast," she grinned "I make a mean blueberry pancake!" A light laugh escaped and she chuckled softly, her fingers playing over Tegan’s hand.

Melissa stepped inside Tegan’s place and looked around. She slipped off her shoes and smiled at her companion for the evening, “Nice place.” Okay, that was lame and a lie, as the house was stunning. She began wandering, admiring the paintings, letting Tegan change- or rather, she assumed Tegan was changing.
Hearing the soft voice invite her to warm up with Tegan, Melissa bit her lip. Usually she’d have been all over the invitation, running and tripping as she stripped out of her clothes to meet with the other girl, but this time…
She paused…
And it was strange to not rush to join a girl.
The reason she couldn’t run to Tegan was because, well, she actually liked her, and didn’t want to ruin anything.
She closed her eyes, thinking her options through a moment, before eventually starting down the hall towards where the musical voice had called to her a moment ago. She wasn’t walking towards Tegan for her own selfish gain, but because she knew what it felt like to be rejected by someone just after a hard break up. Really, whatever happened tonight, was for Tegan. If anything happened, or if anything didn’t happen, it was fine, just so long as Tegan felt safe and secure with her around.
Finding the bathroom, Melissa leaned against the door frame, smiling at the damp goddess in front of her. Her eyes soaked in the petite woman hiding behind a huge fluffy towel and chuckled. “You mentioned warming up?” she asked, taking a step closer to Tegan. She raised her hands, gently cupping Tegan’s pixie-ish face before leaning in to kiss her lips softly. “You look… radiant…” adorable, comfortable, brilliant were all words that were flying through Melissa’s mind to describe Tegan, but radiant was what she’d gone with.
"Radiant, hmm? You have a lovely vocabulary, my dear." Tegan chuckled, brushing damp strands of hair away to better see Melissa's face. She liked the pace of how the evening was going, but it was getting late. Tegan hadn't realized just how much time had passed.
"I'll run you a nice warm bath, you'll feel amazing afterwards." Tegan really wanted to join the other woman, but decided against it. There would be plenty of time for that later, she reasoned as she turned the faucet on.
Letting the heated water flow, she then moved to her master bedroom, which was linked to the bathroom. A sprawling, king size bed was right in the middle of it. Undoing the neatly placed sheets, Tegan prepared her bed for her guest, laying a pair of night clothes on top of it and grabbing some for herself.
"I'm glad you're here." Tegan skipped back to Melissa, happy to not have to spend another night alone. "You'll stay for breakfast tomorrow, won't you?" She tilted her head like an expectant puppy, hoping the answer was favorable.
Let's have a throwback Monday Monday Monday.

Reluctantly, she let the other woman go and chuckled as Tegan produced a phone from her pocket, “Good on you!” Laughter escaped her lips, and she wrapped her free arm around Tegan, starting to wander to a well-lit spot the cab could find them at.
When the cab arrived, Melissa held the door for Tegan before sliding in beside her. She relaxed back into the seat, letting the other woman tell the driver where to go. Her hand that had been resting on her knee slowly moved to fall on Tegan’s knee instead. her thumb began drawing slow, lazy circles over the damn denim, and she looked out the window, watching the city fly by.
Tegan got out of the cab and stretched once they arrived. She had made sure to pay the driver before Melissa could, grinning as she did so.
"Home sweet home." She sighed happily. She had bought a spacious house when she had enough money to do so, while her home in LA was simply an apartment. Unlocking the door and kicking off her shoes, she made her way past the well furnished living room to the luxurious bathroom. While Tegan generally didn't spend much money on material goods, she made sure her house was beautifully decorated. Large, upscale paintings adorned the walls, mostly from her artist friends. A jacuzzi was in the corner and various fine smelling bath implements lined the counter where the sink was located. There was also a temperature self adjusting shower, which Tegan adored. She removed the rest of her wet clothes and her underwear before wrapping herself in a large fluffy towel. "Come, warm up with me." Tegan called out to Melissa.

Melissa grinned as Tegan wrapped her long coat around her shoulders. She pulled the lapels of the coat until they were both huddled together inside the coat, and she had to admit she was liking the feel of Tegan being in her arms. A slight shiver ran through Melissa, and she honestly couldn’t tell you if it was from the cold or from Tegan.
She pressed her forehead to Tegan’s, and allowed her eyes to drift closed. A low sigh escaped her lips as she just enjoyed being held by someone again. Without thinking, Melissa’s lips gently brushed over Tegans, needing to feel a little more intimacy from the girl. She hoped to god that Tegan wouldn’t pull away soon, as she realized she’d been missing another woman’s touch entirely too much recently.
"Hey you. At this rate we'll never get home and dry off." Tegan chided, twirling daintily from the double embrace of the jacket and the older woman. Placing her hand ever so tauntingly at Melissa's side, her lingering fingers fished out her phone from her pocket.
"See? I brought it with me this time." She smiled, recalling when they met earlier. After calling a cab for them, she took Melissa's hand in her own. "I had a lot of fun tonight." She yawned. Even though she was younger, she wasn't as young as she used to be. Her late night era was behind her. She was hoping Melissa wouldn't catch on.
Sittin' on the dock of the bay (Melissa+Tegan)
"Oh, I know. I really don’t mind it… I like being teased, after all." Melissa let the double entendre hang in the air as she reached a hand up and brushed some hair out of Tegan’s eyes. "And I might be old, but I still take care of myself. Not only am I limber, but flexible to boot," she chuckled.
Letting Tegan go, she eventually climbed out after the other woman and jumped up and down a few times trying to warm up. She reached for her clothes, pulling them on quickly, hoping they would help to warm her up as well. When she was dressed and huddled inside her coat, Melissa nodded, looking at Tegan.
"That sounds good. Have some coffee there and warm up a bit?" she suggested. She began walking down the dock towards the street and smiled, "Did you drive? Or are we hailing a cab?"
"I actually walked here." Tegan was still wet, but she pulled her shirt and jeans back on. She never got a chance to swim as much as she would have liked, but her late night swim with Melissa was refreshing and highly amusing.
"You look a little chilly, let me help with that." Tegan smiled and grabbed her coat. She wrapped it carefully over Melissa's shoulders and then proceeded to press herself into her under the guise of getting more warmth. "I'll warm you up alright." Tegan husked. She may have been getting ahead of herself a bit, but the other woman was just what she wanted and needed right about now, common sense be damned.
Sittin' on the dock of the bay (Melissa+Tegan)
Melissa perked an eyebrow, “Did you really just call me old?” she gasped before starting to swim after Tegan. Sure, the girl could swim, but Melissa had grown up swimming in Ippswitch, which had bays and docks just like where they were swimming now. Melissa took a moment to let her muscles warm up before she really started to give chase.
After a few more minutes, she grabbed a hold of Tegan’s ankle, pulling her back through the water. She shifted positions so she was no longer swimming, but was instead treading water. “Caught you,” she whispered, a grin pulling at her lips. She leaned in for the prize, but stopped just as her lips were millimeters away from Tegan’s.
"I’ll cash in that prize later, though…" she whispered. She could feel herself starting to shiver and murmured, "We should get out and find someplace… warmer…"
"You know I'm just teasing, hun." Tegan waved it off, feeling more comfortable, but still a little cold. "I'm surprised you caught up with me. I guess you're still limber after all." Tegan swam to the edge and pulled herself up out of the water. Droplets glistened and shone off of her body in the moonlight.
"Why don't we go back to mine and warm up?" Tegan said as she shook her head like a dog, attempting to dry off.
Sittin' on the dock of the bay (Melissa+Tegan)
"That depends, do you like being teased?" she asked softly. She was about to say she could tease for hours, but was interrupted as the other woman stood abruptly and started to take her clothes off. She’d be a fool to look away, so of course she watched with rapt attention as each piece of clothing hit the wooden platform of the dock. It wasn’t until Tegan was standing on the rail that Melissa realized what would happen.
A laugh escaped her lips as she stood, starting to follow suit, “You’re fucking insane, you know!” She watched as Tegan dove into the water and rolled her eyes as she commented on the water, “Yeah, I bet it is” she said, hopping out of her shoes.
Once she was also standing on the rail in just her bra and underwear, she jumped, feet first. She’d learned that much early on when diving into unfamiliar water- feet first keeps you from hitting your head and drowning.
When she surfaced, she was only a few feet away from Tegan, so she took advantage and playfully splashed the girl, having fun on the midnight swim.
Tegan underestimated the coldness of the water, and felt herself getting goosebumps in places she forgot she could. However, she could handle the cold well, as she did many a polar bear swim in her youth.
She splashed back as Melissa splashed her. "You know, I was going to suggest skinny dipping, but I didn't know if you'd be up for it, old gal." Tegan joked and swam away. She was a powerhouse under the water, gliding and moving so easily, it was like she never left land. "Hey, if you can catch me, I'll let you kiss me again." She taunted, sticking out her tongue like a child.
Sittin' on the dock of the bay (Melissa+Tegan)
Melissa felt Tegan pull away, and she willingly let the other woman, go, though her hand stayed on Tegan’s jaw. Her thumb stroked lazily of the soft skin there and Melissa slowly opened her eyes. She drew a breath as her tongue reached out to taste her lips, and taste the lingering of Tegan.
A shy smile crossed Melissa’s face as she heard Tegan’s compliment, and she couldn’t help but chuckle. “So do you,” she whispered, her eyes capturing Tegan's. She winked at the other woman, hoping that a little playfulness would relax her.
Hearing the change of subject, she couldn’t help but want to tease the other woman a little more. “Mmmm, it is, but it’s not as lovely as you,” she whispered, leaning in to Tegan again.
"Are you teasing me?" Tegan caught on and huffed in mock indignation. "I was going to kiss you again, but I'm not so sure now." She teased back. Suddenly, an idea crossed Tegan's mind and she stood up abruptly. Despite the slightly chilly air, she removed her coat and began removing her shirt and jeans. Clad only in her bra and underwear, she hovered over Melissa's sitting form. "Good night for a swim." She climbed up the rail and positioned herself for a dive. As children, she and Sara had taken intensive swimming lessons, and the older twin felt right at home in the water.
Muscles tense, body in position, Tegan dove off of the dock. Her lithe body sliced through the water with ease, and she surfaced moments later. Cheering happily, she gestured the other woman to join her. "Come on! The water's nice!"
