Biggest fuck-up ever is that people have to pay to become doctors
Like unironically we should be subsidising at least 50% of their educations. What do you mean we have a shortage of doctors we should have surplus. What do you mean theyāre being overworked they should be treated like royalty, they can fix human bodies
I donāt care if some of them are only doing it for the money. I donāt care if all of them are only doing it for the money. Intentions donāt matter to the stitches in my nanaās leg or the ten billion other lifesaving treatments we all get at a detriment to their finances and mental wellbeing. Entire cities are kept alive by just a couple thousand of them what are we DOINGGGGG

What have I become, my sweetest friend?
Just like with Charles, Javier can find you. Again, I included if you go with him versus riding on your own.
Transcript update:
Javier: There you are, friend!Ā Arthur: Hello there, Javier! Javier: Dutch is worried about you.Ā Arthur: I aināt dead yet. Javier: *Javier laughs* So I see! Wanna head back to camp with me? Or you want me to tellĀ āem youāre fine?Ā Arthur: TellĀ āem Iām fine! Iāll be back soon enough. Javier: Okay. Version 2: Arthur: Iāll ride with you. Javier: ??? (need translation.)
I know I posted an audio similar to this in the past. Who is Arthur talking about here? Sean? John? Update: Someone said itās about Albert Mason. Transcript: Arthur: Youāve tried your hardest to get killed, but I keep saving you!
New with transcript.
Also like Dutch was shit to Molly but people still love John even though he was a major asshole to Abigail and even groped Karen against her will
The math is not mathing
Hosea also was never able to give up his outlaw life for bessie, yet people find them so cute....like yes he loved her but if dutch had done the same to annabelle or someone else the fandom would use it as bullets
PERIOD.
Like I said few posts ago: people will bald Dutch for everything because it fits into the āman bad>:(((ā narrative.
I mean there is a very clear contrast between Hosea and Bessie, and Molly and Dutch.
Hosea is in love with Bessie until her dying days, whereas Dutch sees a devastated, wreck of a woman that was previously his lover, knowing he has caused her to feel such pain because of his constant neglect and mistreatment towards her, and offers absolutely no sympathy and instead goes out of his way to upset her further.
Hosea never speaks a bad word about Bessie throughout the entire game and strongly values the relationship they had. He grieves her until his own dying days. And more importantly, yes he was unable to give up his outlaw life for Bessie, but he absolutely tries to the point he leaves the gang for a considerable amount of time, really putting in the effort to give her what she wants. Hosea even states that she understood when he returned to the gang, which clearly implies the relationship they had was built on communication and mutual respect for each otherās wishes.
Whereas, all Molly wants is the same love and affection from Dutch he is supposed to be giving her as her partner, whom he has isolated and, in a way, trapped in the gang. And he will not even give her that. To make matters worse, he is happy to have her spend her time trying to impress him and get his attention only to brush her off, while knowing all he needs to do to make her leave him alone is be honest if he has lost feeling for her. Not to mention he talks badly about her behind her back shamelessly, knowing she would never in a million years do the same.
Also, I know Iāve already replied to this post, but the comparison of Hosea trying and failing to lead a normal life with Bessie, a woman he undoubtedly still adores even years after his death, and the treatment that Dutch subjects Molly to is so bizarre. The situations are so starkly different that I donāt even see how comparison can be drawn other than they are both men in relationships with women.
Hosea failed at something he did for Bessie, but him falling back into the outlaw life is something that 1. We know Bessie forgave him for and 2. Takes nothing away from how much we can tell Hosea adores that woman even years after her death. We never meet Bessie, and yet we learn so much about her purely from Hosea. Even when he isnāt talking about how any judge who would spare his life and take hers isnāt one he could respect any more than himself, itās evident in every mention of her that Hosea Matthews is deeply in love with his wife. No, he was not perfect. Yes, he was unable to leave the life of an outlaw behind for Bessie, but that is starkly different to any of the circumstances with Dutch and Molly.
To avoid just fully delving into how awful of a partner Dutch is, Iāll try and keep it short. Dutch wonāt even call Molly by her name. Do you understand how dehumanising that is? To repeatedly tell the man you love to call you by your first name and for that to be ignored every time? Calling somebody by their own name is such a basic form of respect that Dutch wonāt even give Molly. He ignores her wishes to be called Molly, he makes any excuse not to speak to her and no matter how upset she is, he will never let up. He wonāt even look at her, and this is the case as early as chapter two. He does not care enough about Molly to show her any basic human respect, let alone love, and all Molly asks him for is, to quote her directly, āto be treated with some respect and affectionā. She is not asking for a lot. She repeatedly expresses understanding for the stress Dutch is under and a willingness to help him if he would let her, but it makes no difference. No matter what, Dutch doesnāt care about her. She is asking to be shown the love she gave up everything for, and Dutch continuously neglects and manipulates her in turn. As the response said, Molly has no options besides staying in the gang with Dutch and he knows this, fully aware of the situation she is in, fully aware of how miserable Molly is, and still seeing the woman he brought here as little more than an inconvenience to him. Her emotions mean nothing, her love means nothing, she means nothing.
Also, hey - does Dutch talk about Annabelle like a woman he loves? In my opinion, no he absolutely does not. Annabelle exists only as motivation for Dutch to continue a feud he started. Hosea brings up Bessie at any opportunity he has to do so; reminiscing by the fire, riding through a place the two once went, even just playing dominoes with his son like he used to with her. She is on his mind constantly, and her memory prevails with him in even the most mundane situations. As he states, sheās the last thing he thinks about before he goes to sleep and the first thing he thinks about when he wakes up. The photo of the two of them is facing his bed. He is putting in every effort to remember Bessie as she was.
Unlike Hosea, Dutch does absolutely nothing to preserve or remember the kind of person that Annabelle was. āI liked Annabelle,ā yeah sure, but who was she? What was she like? How come you only ever bring her up when Colm shows up? Annabelleās memory and how she serves Dutchās own motives is all she seems to be worth to him. Of course people all grieve differently, but when we have Hosea to contrast it with, Dutchās memory of Annabelle and the way he speaks about her does not suggest that he loves her the way he claims. She is an idea, an abstract motivation, to Dutch. She is not a person.
Additionally with John - yeah, John sucks in the early chapters. No one who loves the relationship with the Marstons will deny that. Heās awful to Abigail, but unlike Dutch - who starts bad and gets worse with his abuse of Molly - John changes. Like I said in the replies, John has a redemption arc. You know. In the game about redemption. Johnās redemption is directly centred around his family, especially Abigail, and by the time we get to RDR, he has done a complete turn in how much he cares for his wife and child. Undeniably, he starts bad, but he gets better.
This take is just completely ignorant to the actual circumstances of all three relationships and how vastly different they are. Hosea being an imperfect but immensely loving partner and Johnās entire character arc being about becoming a better husband and father are, in fact, different to Dutch being an abusive partner to a woman who only ever wanted to feel loved and respected by him.
Also, if it was a āman bad narrativeā, do you really think Hosea and John would be off the hook? Because yes, those two were still imperfect, but as the original ask said, people love Hosea and John and their relationships with their respective partners. Perhaps itās just that people rightfully recognise and criticise Dutch and his relationship specifically because he is an incredibly abusive partner, not because of any kind of narrative about men the fanbase is trying to push.

Hi there! I stumbled across your page a few days a go and I love it. I am really enthralled in your comprehensive examination of sex workers role in society in 19th century and Abigail's character analysis. Your love for both history and RDR really shines through.
I have never studied history, but I would love your knowledge and opinion on Jack's education. I've always wondered why Jack was not in some form of education or schooling in 1907, and it's always confused me when Abigail asked him how his studies were going during the epilogue at Beecher's Hope even though Jack is never seen leaving the farm.
It's mentioned by John in RDR1 that in Armadillo there is a schooling education system in the area with the line "I think there are some school children outside, why don't go scare them?" Again in Armadillo, there is a stranger mission called Lights, Camera, Action where the playing as to enter a building that is labelled by both John and Jack (depending on who you are playing as) as an old school house.
I always thought maybe it was due to his father being an murdering outlaw on the run from the law, or the fact that Jack would be needed to do work on the farm for harvesting season.
What do you think? š¤
First of all, Iām so sorry this is so late. I love your question and I really wanted to be able to sit down and take my time to answer it.Ā
Iām sooo glad you love my blog.Ā Iām actually working into preserving an old brothel in the West, so Iām even more deep into the literature and research right now. I also am working preserving an old Sanatorium so Iām pretty excited to answer peopleās questions if they have them.
Long post because I have several different things to explain and it does jump around a little so I can explain different scenarios.I took a history of childhood class so I can hopefully be pretty helpful. A lot of this is speculation and possibilities, even if they are unlikely. This is based on what Iāve read other working class families did.
Iām super proud of this meta and wanted to share it. This was really historical, maybe it will bore you all and I understand that. History isnāt everyoneās cup of tea, but if even one more person think itās cool, then Iām happy!Ā One thing Iād like to add is that Uncle seems relatively educated in some ways. Heās not quite the fool people think he is and Dutch alludes to this basically sayingĀ āYouāre lucky youāre like the jester or else I would be very concernedā type of thing.Ā So, Uncle can probably teach some things as well whether itās stuff heās picked up over the years - that is legit - or maybe some of it is educational.

Red Dead Redemption 2 was so real for creating the most in-depth, realistic clothing system I've ever seen in any game, and exclusively using it on burly, unhygienic men.
You choose every layer, every accessory, with dozens to hundreds of each to choose from. You can go in and fine-tune minute details like whether or not to roll up the shirt sleeves, or button the collar, or whether to wear your pants under your boots. These clothes get dirty in real time depending on what you do in the game. Mud, dust and blood linger unless washed off. Every garment has a warmth rating based on its material, and the game calculates what temperatures an outfit is suitable for based on the combined total. Dressing too cold or warm for the weather causes health debuffs.
You can choose which way he parts his hair, and whether he gels it. If you eat too much he gets bulkier and gains a double chin, and if you eat too little he can go underweight and get all bony and sallow. Both of these states come with stat changes. His hair and beard grow in real game time, and you need to routinely style and shave his facial hair if you want any style other than a full Santa. You need to bathe him regularly or people will start commenting on his BO, and he'll start visibly appearing filthy long before that. He sunburns in the sun, and in the heat he becomes slick and glossy with sweat.
This shit is IN DEPTH. It blows the customization systems of actual fashion-centric games like tf2, Monster Hunter and Splatoon out of the water in every regard. They honestly look basic in comparison. It's a paradigm shift for sure once you experience RDR2's level of customization. Everything else starts to feel smaller.
The player character all this customization is applied to, and I simply cannot stress this enough, is a 36 year old, 6'3" smoker weighing well over 200 pounds, with facial hair thicker than a sheepdogs, forearms like gnarled tree trunks and a dark, dense forest of body hair covering every reasonable surface. His skin is pocked and marred with scars from a rugged, nomadic lifestyle, and his teeth are the colour of cornbread. He has a thick southern accent, is a known mean drunk and knows how to skin pretty much any North American animal. He has never worn deodorant, flossed or moisturized. He eats canned beans, fruit and the like by simply pouring them into his mouth and gulping, often while walking or riding a horse at full gallop.
I can think of NO better use case for such customization. Not some fresh-faced little twink, not some busty anime babe. Just a gross, hairy, unwashed homeless dude with crippling self esteem issues and a chest broader than a barrel laid lengthwise. A non fashion-centric game, certainly a non-fashion centric character, but for some reason the best clothing and customization system ever concieved, bar none. What the fuck.
