Currently, ALNST/ZOMST and BLs (mostly Thai) have completely consumed all of my waking thoughts. But I do tend to go towards gaming content, anime, and manhwas as well. This list includes DBH, Genshin and Honkai, Ganbare! Nakamura-kun!! (AKA Go For It Nakamura!), and One-Room TA.

I always feel so cheated in stories when characters are walking around with this Big Guilt and then...you find out that the thing wasn't their fault at all. And not in a "they thought they did it but it turns out they were set up" way, or even a "accepting that just because they did A which caused B which caused C it doesn't mean C was their fault", way but where they finally lay out the sequence of events and it's clear that any thinking person would not connect them. Like, fucking commit!!! The character isn't LESS compelling if they actually did the thing! You can't have the haunted brooding meow meow who is...also completely blameless
unpopular opinion probably but I actually like that ao3 doesnât let people take back their kudos.
unlike social media platforms (which ao3 is not) where people unlike stuff whenever they think or find out the original postersâ moral compass doesnât perfectly align with their ownâs or whatever, and âlikesâ can be taken back at any time, ao3 treats kudos as something sacred. once you give it, itâs the authorâs to keep forever.
This will be more of a rant about the episode as I have gotten over a bit of my fangirling about Tee's MC role (Detective Phat) and made notes as I watched the episode. But I have to say that I am looking at it more critically now that I am locked in.
Ranking of Ep 2: 8/10
Okay so first off, when I was watching Ep 1, I didn't notice the title song was repeated twice to do the full opening sequence. I have noticed that in multiple GMMTV series that they tend to not commit to longer songs per scene, which lowkey kills the mood a bit since it does seem like it is for every action each character does. It also doesn't seem to fit sometimes (i.e. the action scene in the finale of Wu series when Niran and Pete were doing their own little thing).
But Kaye is found out and yeah, the police were definitely suspicious of him. I would too but knowing the police are tailing me, I would also try to make it seem like I'm not a cold blood killer, such as feeding the local cats. Lol Phat is not impressed of course, but I got to say, I love how they show the slow police work they're doing while investigating. Though really, tailing him like that would make me more cautious. They're also loud lol. But Neo's character (forgot the name lol) is already acting a bit sus in my opinion so far. Wonder if they got the permission to investigate Kaye's apartment. But the fact Kaye kept the picture is cute.
Phat was definitely saved by the phone when he hid in that closet.
Got to say the blatant advertisement doesn't get old lol, especially when it's so there. But I love the scene of Prim and Praew doing their work. I really love the exchange of their fighting poses and the slight realism with Off's character/head anchor saying he rather get results than caring about the people involved. Interesting how the two siblings are investigating their own thing though I do think that Off's character is definitely leaning towards the sus list. Same goes with Prim unfortunately since she didn't really look sincere when talking to Praew when she mentioned her family history. Though that could be me thinking too hard here.
Interesting how the investigating reporters recovered the files more than the police. Though I do wonder if that is what that office is doing since the other workers seem to be not doing anything else than looking at a blank screen (I think).Â
It does seem like Kaye is being pursued by two groups, which was interesting shots to make it seem like it was the police until the slow turn towards the loan sharks. My poor anxious bean did not deserve the beating. No wonder he carries a hammer for protection. It's better than a gun for sure though. The close up shot of him picking himself off was great to show the torn up feeling of doing it or not to attack the loan sharks for revenge. Same goes with the backing up but my dude really just needs a blanket. But bad timing and bad luck for Kaye to get arrested for a misunderstanding. I'm a bit glad that he sort of subconsciously recognized Phat enough to know to collapse in front of him, but wonder if that was intentional or not for his character to see him as a safe space. Or it's for me seeing that in BL lenses lol.
The reveal of how the victims might be picked is really interesting as it did show a pattern of an anti-hero since the victims were people who screw other people over. The connection to the bank is also interesting as it ties the siblings to the manga since their father was part of a bank scheme. But Neo's character is definitely sus with him refusing to see the connection and asking questions that seem to be straying away from Kayeâs hunch.Â
Interesting how they introduced handcuffing to each other. But even with the fact they could hold Kaye for a long period of time like that is also interesting as I thought the police could only hold them for 48 hours to prove their innocence or guilt. With how theyâre showing the gentle side of Kayeâs character though is really nice. Heâs just an anxious dude who is trying to get by and just so happens to want to feed stray cats even when he is lowkey poor.Â
I also love the ending scene of how Phat bought the cat food that Neoâs character ate. Really interesting how the preview of the next episode is similar to how Goddess Bless You to Death was like. Wonder if they got inspired by that series since both Thup and Kaye became consultants for the police because of their connection to the case.
Because of the slight nitpicking I had with the elements of the episode, it has a lower rating than Ep 1, but it still holds promise for me to keep going without feeling like it's a chore to watch. Despite how the premise is now looking a bit similar to Goddess Bless You to Death (going to say this as GBYD from now on), I do like the chemistry and the slow reveal of Kaye's POV and the introduction of more information pertaining to the murders. Crossing fingers the storyline and pacing won't drop in the next episode.
It's a bit early to start pointing fingers at who might be the copycat killer/Nekros killer, but hopefully there will be more concrete evidence next week.

in short, i think the main dynamic of "we care about each other a lot, but let's never tell the other that, and continuously misunderstand each other" will be the same, but this time till will be chasing after ivan's attention while ivan runs away. lemme elaborate
till got a lot of screen time in alnst, but we didn't get a lot about how he felt about ivan. to the point where the fandom constantly debates what he thinks of him outside of "he's annoying!!!....oh shit he's dead now" what we do know is that till did see ivan as a friend, but a very difficult one because ivan's behavior from an outside pov is incredibly confusing. after alnst, we know that till regrets not taking the time to understand ivan, and wants to care for him. and now, in zomst, they're stuck in a vulnerable position together for an indefinite time. so till tries again.
the catch is ivan doesn't trust till's desires for closeness because till is infected with the zombie virus, something shown to impair judgement. despite ivan's obsession, i truly believe he wouldn't want till's attention as a brain dead zombie. we forget that outside of cure (where one of them was going to die), ivan isn't forceful with his carnal desires at all. in fact he is disturbingly okay with being treated like garbage if it means he gets till's genuine reactions. ivan loves till for his burning desire to stay true to his wishes, so a husk with till's body that doesn't act like till would revolt him. or worse, make him feel guilty for wanting more from till at all because his feelings are "shallow."
